AMAZING customer service! Perhaps they've had a change in management, because both the guy at the desk and the manager herself were extremely helpful. After a terrible experience with Butterfly Bike & Kayak rentals (in which the guy straight out lied to me and attempted to charge me more than the published rates), I was ready to forget the whole bike rental thing. We needed a carrier for the baby, and the manager worked with us closely, even allowing us to exchange the first one, because the baby was just a little too small for it. SO pleasant!! The rates were reasonable and well-published. I would definitely rent from here again, if we return to the area for vacation.

Thieves & Liars! I thought the negative reviews were exaggerated, but these guys are crooks! I called with a few questions before renting a bike & baby cart online, and the guy quoted a price $10 per item higher than the online price. He said the online price was only for rentals made 1-2 weeks in advance and that the stipulation was in the rental agreement. I looked it up and there was no such wording in the contract. I called back again and said that I could not find any such stipulation in the rental agreement and asked him if he could let me know where the wording was listed. He then said that he was "telling me that that was how it worked" and that he was "just doing his job." So, he clearly lied to me about it being in the agreement. I called him out about trying to overcharge us with rates higher than their website listed and stated that if they charged us more in person after we had made our reservation that it would constitute fraud. He replied that if we tried to make a reservation online that he would reject it. He refused to accept our reservation, refused to give his name, refused to let me speak to a manager, and proceeded to hang up on me. What a jerk! BLATANT thievery!
Not a bargain, but everything worked out
I contacted Big Fish by phone a month out before our visit to Seagrove. The person I spoke with on the phone was very helpful and was anticipating a smooth experience with the company (who also owns Donut Hut and Brozinni Pizzeria). When we arrived to our home mid day, our bikes had not been delivered. I left 3 voicemails, an email or two as well as tried to call a few more times and there was no answer. They did finally deliver our three bikes at about 5 pm. I made another phone call just to simply ask if we would be charged for the whole day, This time when I called, a woman (guessing Nicole) answered, and I explained the situation very kindly and just wanted to know if we would be charged for the whole day or not. She immediately started rudely saying that everyone needed to find more patience and yes we would be charged for the whole day. I have never had anyone speak that rudely to me on the phone before. I asked that the bikes be picked up and we not be charged. Interestingly enough, they were at the house within 5 minutes to pick the bikes up. I think some kindness would help here.
Paid cash and they still charged my cc and said they had no record of the cash I gave their delivery guy. Absolute worst customer service, I will NEVER rent from them again. Make sure you check your cc statement for fraudulent charges!
Had the unfortunate experience of renting 5 bikes from Gulf Riders while on spring break in San Destin last week (4/6/14). Gulf Riders dropped off the bikes within 3-4 hours after we ordered, but once delivered, rentals were not the new, beautiful bicycles pictured on their website. In fact, the bikes were a huge disappointment; but, being that our high school girls were ready to start their vacation, we reluctantly accepted the bicycles and the girls took off. After about 20 minutes, we got a call. The bikes were difficult and UNSAFE to ride with rusty chains, loose steering and we later learned, dry rotted tires! I wish I could post the multiple photos we took on this site!We picked up the girls and immediately (within one hour after they delivered the rentals) called Gulf Riders for replacement bikes. The person who took the call was immediately defensive and argumentative refusing to make ANY correction. In fact, she told us that we had agreed to those bikes and we were going to be billed for the entire week-no replacement offered like their contract implies. Needless to say, we were forced to rent NEW BIKES from competitor who promptly delivered 5 pristine looking bicycles that were in good working order. Gulf Riders left their bikes on the premises of our rental property despite repeated calls for pick-up. We're guessing they plan on fighting our credit card dispute since technically we "had" their product for the entire "agreed upon" period. What a hassle for a week of vacation! Bottom line. Avoid renting from Gulf Riders. What a scam operation!
Do not use these people. They are the worst. Never been ripped off by a retailer like I was with these guys. They are dirty.
I could literally look put a great list of things that are amazing about this place, but the most commendable of them all is the staff that they have in here, they are very cool and helpful.
