Hilton Santa Monica Hotel & Suites

This hotel has a 4 star rating but I'd disagree. It's a bit old and could use an update. Staff not very accommodation considering my non smoking room smelled like smoke... Uck!

My family was visiting me here in Santa Monica, since I live here I couldn't recommend a hotel, just to stay out of the seedy motels. They eventually settled on the Double Tree. At first glance it's nice. Valet only parking, but the valets are nice and a cozy room with all the amenities.



The problems began with the door. Really, the card reader. Which ran out of battery as we were gone for the day. We found ourselves locked out our room until maintenance could replace the batteries.



The day after my family arrived they decided to eat breakfast there at the hotel to be quick. If you're gonna do this, be rich. It was expensive for just okay quality. Right around the corner on pico and pacific is Cha Cha chicken. Half the price, bigger portions, awesome food.



My grandmother is old and can't go out with us all the time. So my sister ordered her a ham sandwich in advance from room service and told them to charge the room. They brought her a turkey and and a bill for $26. She gave them two twenties and the guy just left never returning change.



The worst offense was they lied to us. My family left two things behind while in a rush to leave for the airport. One was a balloon and the other a bag. Everyone spotted the bag but no one packed it. Opps. It was left sitting on the bed. That's our bad.



When we called to get our stuff back, we worried about mostly the bag. They denied it was in the room. So I went there personally and asked for it. They gave me some one on the phone (why couldn't he meet me face to face?) who continued to deny there was any bag left behind. I asked about the balloon. Surely you can't miss a balloon? After a long moment he said that was also never recovered. This is a bold face lie. The contents of that bag are my disabled nephew's ipod and headphones. I'll continue to call the Double Tree to make sure they don't forget that they lied to me, my family, my nephew, their customers.



I recommend you find some better place in Santa Monica to stay, where they are more interested in protecting you instead of a thief.
