The Santa Clara Police Department is a law enforcement agency that safeguards individuals rights and their properties. It is structured into various divisions that include investigations, field operations and administrative services. The primary function of the Investigations Division is to conduct the follow-up investigation after a crime has been reported. Its goal is to identify the perpetrators of the crime to assist the district attorney's office in the successful prosecution of the suspects. The Investigations Division also assists the victims of crimes during the course of an investigation. It has the Specialized Crimes Action Team (SCAT) which targets narcotics and vice activity in the City.
