Lassen's has been going steadily downhill as far as customer service and also freshness of organic produce are concerned. I have been shopping at the Goleta Lassen's for over a decade. My most recent experience was my last contact with this store. The final straw was when the employees refused to allow me to return a bottle of organic, mango-scented hand soap, an item I had bought from their "clearance" bin. I was told it could not be returned and was a final sale item, although at the clearance bin there was no sign reading "final sale." A young woman I had never seen before, working in the cosmetics department had the "final" say. She took the hand soap bottle from me and turned it around to show me that she had written, in marker pen, "final sale," across the UPC code. (As if any of us ever look at the UPC code for such information!)When this woman and the young cashier agreed that my item could not be returned, I informed them that they had lost a good customer. All for $4.75. I set down the bottle and left. I have no intention of ever shopping there again. I would like to add that had "Sasha," their manager of former years, been there----you better believe she would have had the good sense to treat a long-time customer with more tact and respect. Good-bye, Lassen's! Lazy Acres all the way. They know how to value a customer.
