Be careful !!!!

If i could give a "0" star i would ! Do NOT waste your money !!!! These people rob people out of 200 dollars ! They give you bogus rental listings and give you the run around to why you can't see any at the end of the day. It's scary how they send people to random homes that aren't even for rent !! Please save your time and money and skip this place. If you're really in need of finding a home I suggest looking up property management companies in your area .

well this is how i found out about this place. i was looking for a place to rent in the recycler and they had this home in lakewood the sounded so nice. i called the number and it was first step rental who answered the ad. they told me i would have to come down to fill out papers. they didn't say nothing about a fee of 200.00 dollars. ( here i was complaining about another company wanted 40.00 dollars) well i have a busy schedule so i wasn't able to go there that day and it's not close to me. so about two weeks later i called to get info on the address to their bussiness and they didn't seem to be polite telling me yea you called last time. but i think he had me confused with another caller. when i got there i was assigned to a guy name joseph. he was polite. he didn't say anything about that house in lakewood that i was interested in and still didn't mention the 200.00 until he took down my info and was ready for me to sign the contract. i was desperate to move. i was short selling my house and i didn't know how long i had before i needed to move out. i wasn't finding anything on my own. i have a small dog. and most places didn't accept pets. so i told joseph the area i wanted to live in that except pets. he said they could find me a place and if not they would refund 125.00 back to me after the contract ends. he said very seldom there's a refund because they usually find a place for their customers. they gave me about 5 pages of rental properties. but there was no price on the rentals. so i had to ask them to write the prices down.( i mean who goes looking for a place and you don't know how much rent is, duh! i wanted the square footage to but they didn't know that. while i was there i could hear them talking bad about other customers. joseph told me every wed and sat they have a new listing. i ask do they email the list to you, they said no cause they have gotten a virus in the past doing that. so i had to pay to have them fax me a new list to staples every wed. and sat. it was either that or drive all the way down to santa ana to get the list. sometimes the list wouldn't be in the area i ask for. sometimes when i called they would put me on hold for a while. well anyway i end up finding me a place. on my own. it was on the same block that was on the list that first step rentals gave me. ( if i told them that they would probably lie and say thats one of there rental properties on their list)

now the deal is if they don't find you a place after your contract end, you have to send a letter in with your contract 10 days after your contract expire to get your 125.00. so i wrote a letter to them know soon it expired and told them about there unsatisfactory service. about i still had to come out of my pocket with faxing the new list to me because they don't do emails ( this is 2013) and sometimes the list is not the area i wanted and the long wait on the phones. i put that all in the letter and sent it certified with a tracking number and a return receipt . a couple of days went buy and i didn't get that green return receipt in the mail. and i couldn't find my tracking number, so i sent another certified letter and made sure i had the tracking number, but still i didn't see any return receipt in the mail . so i called first step rental and told them i was calling about my reimbursement and that i sent them two certified letters and a lady name letty( who's in charge of the reimbursement) said they didn't get any letters. she ask when did i send it. then she told me it usually take about two weeks for a refund and to call back in two weeks. i went on line to look up my tracking number and the post office left a notice. so i called the post office. the clerk found both my letters there and she said there were about five other letters from other people there too.

This place actually helped me! I'll admit that I was a little skeptical at first. Since the last time i found a place to live, was on my own. I was in the need of a place to live and i needed to move in right away. The reason was a flood in my apartment complex. The agent that helped me at First Step Rentals was very professional and courteous. He even found me a place that would accept my two cats! The process was quick and informative, I was in a condo within two weeks of signing up. I would recommend this place to anyone that needs a place to move into as soon as possible. Thank You First Step Rentals!

Fraud

Save your money. You basically flush $200 down the toilet. The employees are unprofessional and liars. They also give a lot of misleading information. I would do zero stars but i had to do one.
