Just had some sushi by Ikoma at costco. had what looked like a delicious tempura crunch all over the top of it.It wasn't tempura. It was FRENCH FRIED ONIONS. ON SUSHI.....what? Sushi is a light, fresh food. Frech fried onions have NO PLACE on sushi. If they were fresh sweet onions that would be great, but these were not. It had raw fish (salmon), but I couldn't taste it even after taking off all the onions, because the flavor had already sunken in.I forced it all down because it was expensive, but I will never buy that again. The Japanese brand name made me think that maybe it would be more authentic. However, this was literally the least authentic, most disappointing sushi of my life. (of course, I lived in Japan for a few years, and have high standards for sushi.)
Wasn't worth the price. Got to the restaurant at 5:30 on a weekday (opens at 5). The oil still wasn't hot so I had to wait until nearly 6 for my food. The softshell crab smelled bad and I wasn't about to eat it. The tempura batter was very heavy and oily. The server was pleasant and did a good job but fantastic service doesn't outweigh bad food.
Service rejected.I went there at 900pm Wednesday and they told me they were closed. I double checked the hours on their doors and on their web-page and they claimed their dinner hours is Mon - Thur: 5PM - 9:30PM.I dressed casually with shoes on. I talked politely to the host. There were a few customer still having their dinner.
I love the food and have there twice and never again. What are the odds it would take ten minutes to be seated with no wait, and thirty minutes for the meal. I never had anyone offer drink refills and when the waitress finally showed it was to give me the bill!I live around the corner from this establishment but will never go back or take friends there when visiting.
Yay! a Sushi Place that is excellent. Fresh Fresh Fresh. Lets just say my husband is picking up from there more and more. Not sure if he likes that! I love it. I had a great time, this is a smaller restaurant quiet atmosphere great sushi some of the best sushi I have ever had. They are kind of hard to find from the road off of 9400 south. They are in the same parking lot as the Smiths. Glad I found it. SUSHI TIME!
