Business Description
The Brass Door, formerly known as the 8/5 Club, was established by Howard Schlesinger in 1946. It was originally a six-stool bar and 20-person dining facility with a menu, which comprised of steam beer and fried chicken. Schlesinger s son, Mickey and his partner Dick Basso bought the club in 1955. Soon after, they renamed the club, The Brass Door. Over the years, the partners expanded the facility to include a 20-stool bar, 50-seater cocktail lounge and a dining area for 160 guests. Following a brief period of closure in 1994, due to a fire, the bar was completely rebuilt. Still operational from its original location in San Ramon, Calif., the bar has an extensive menu of prime beef, fresh seafood, salads and pastas.

I'm a single female traveler who visited the Brass Door at the suggestion of the hotel front desk clerk. Ordered from the ""senior's"" menu which is designed for lighter appetites (and yes - seniors, which I'm not!). The prime rib was excellent and the portion was quite generous for being billed as portioned for ""lighter appetites"". The service, food quality, and appealing menu options were so good I went back again the next night to try the veal. OUTSTANDING! Veal was very tender with a perfect crunch to the crust. I think I would ask for sauce on the side next time, though. I'm here for a week and have every intention of going back again at least once more (possibly twice) to try the seafood and maybe the chicken!! Wait staff recognized me the second night and was very gracious and welcoming. I felt so at home there. They've provided me with two very memorable meals and lovely dining experiences!

Customer service needs improvement

Would not recommend. Asked for lemon in our water & server facial expression & body language expressed impatience when she inquired about cocktails. Caeser salad plate was chilled however salad was not . When placing bill on table & returning credit card transaction she ackonwledge us with her back turned as she walked off. No excuse, restaurant was not busy as all.
