It was the worst! We took our truck in for a repair on the wiring harness and were told that it could be fixed. Got a call later that day from the service dept saying that we needed a new one for $5,000.00 plus labor or that they could repair the old one. I told the service manager that we wanted it repaired...not replaced! Went in to pick up truck and heres a bill for $6,000.00 They said that they had a recording of my voice authorizing the repair. We asked to hear the recording...they said come back in 2 hours. This was our 7th trip in to untangle this mess! When we returned they told us they couldn't find it...back home without our truck.
We live on a ranch and this truck is needed on a dailey basis. It has now been 1 month in the shop.
Enter insurance company. They called Dominic in service and asked to see old wiring harness that they took out, including our transmission. Toyota said they didn't have it anymore. After pressing for answers they finally admitted that they repaired...not replaced harness. We settled with insurance company and picked up truck FINALLY YESTERDAY. THE SERVICE MANAGER DOMINIC WAS A REAL PIECE OF WORK. We can see why there are so many unhappy customers. Next time take your car to Hansels toyota....they are the best and treat their customers like family. Also...make sure you always check your bill at Toyota of Marin.

Loved working with Tyler on my recent highlander purchase. He didn't try to pressure me into something I wasn't comfortable with and helped me find the right setup for my budget. He even stayed late on a Sunday to wait with me while I did all the paperwork and then do a proper "delivery" of the vehicle. Looking forward to my first service visit - even though it's not for like 5 months! These new cars are so efficient!

Smile in the front, Kick'em in the back.

We also are having a bad experience. Sure the sales service and smiles were nice. We were sold. But this low-mileage car was a lemon and they're treating us horribly now. Had a similar issue with the service light coming on within the first week of buying the car. We were told it just needed to be reset since they just performed their standard service. We brought it back, they reset the service light and a month later... $4500 in replacements and repairs. We're taking this up with them now. So far they're treating us as if we bought the car somewhere else. Horrible horrible experience. Not the dealership experience you would expect, beware of a polished chicken shack.

CAR NEEDED: New Year's weekend!

An unusual sequence of events led us to Toyota Marin on a rainy New Year's weekend. Our son was to drive down to UCLA on Monday. The used Corolla I had purchased was not the vehicle on the title! After checking out prices and cars online - safety, value, etc. I decided to take Michael with me to check out the inventory at Toyota Marin. WOW. This was not the car buying experience I'd had at BMW ...The salesperson was knowledgeable, relaxed, and thorough. We bought the car (the financing dept. was also great), and the service department presented us with an immaculate vehicle. Steve Nix, our salesperson, went over all the functions of the car with our son...Could not have been happier!

Car Sales Service

We had a great experience with the staff at Toyota of Marin. All of the staff had a very cheerful, happy spirit and were very helpful. Our salesman was especially nice to work with. He was very patient in explaining all the details regarding the new Camry we were looking at. Once we agreed to buy the car, he even told us to come back and he could continue to answer our questions on how to use the many functions of our new car. Being seniors, we especially appreciated that offer and did return for his gracious help. Over all we had a very enjoyable experience and feel at home at Toyota of Marin.

Best Car buying experience ever.

I have purchased two cars from Toyota Marin. The first time I purchased a new car and received excellent timely service and the y worked with me to get a price that I could afford for the car that I wanted. The second time, the used car department called to ask if I wanted to trade in my Prius. I went and checked out their inventory; they had a car that I was interested in at another dealership, which the ydelivered to me the next day. Again, they gave me a great deal and even worked out a payment plan so that I could put down a larger down payment and cut my car payment monthly. This is the only dealership I will ever buy from and I highly suggest it to everyone. The staff is incredibly friendly (even the salespeople who I weren't working with would stop by and chat and make sure that I was comfortable.) Toyota Marin made what is usually a stressful situation into a very pleasant, easy one.

Excellent Care for Special Needs

I recently purchased a Certified Pre-owned Sienna mini-van to accommodate a spine injury so I can lie down after driving short distances. The sales staff were very caring and supportive, conducting much of the sale while I was lying down in the back. They gave me lots of time and attention, with no rush or pressure. They seemed to genuinely care. However, once the sale was complete,the sales staff's extra helpful attention seemed to fade some. Their service department has been wonderfully helpful so far, and the free shuttle so helpful!

Service Dept Sabotaged my car

Have a 2000 Cambry V-6 with 60,000 mi. The starter went bad so took it to Toyota of Marin. Also had them do the 60k check-up. Got the car back and within a day it began to shift itself into reverse whenever forward speed decreased to about 5 mph. Checked all fuses and noticed that the licenses plate and truck lights weren't getting electricity, checked its wires and noticed that three wires going into the truck lid were cut. I Spliced the three wires and the lights began working and the spontaneous shifting into reverse stopped. The Check Engine light was still on though, the fault code indicating the EGR flow was excessive and some
manufacture/Instruction fault. This fault is keeping me from passing the smog check and hence getting the car registered in California. With some research I've
learned that these fault codes, no matter how much reapir and new parts you pay for, will eventually come back once they start. I bought this car new from them
and paid dearly for the service. The wires were cut in their service dept and the onboard computer hasn't been right since.

started by searching for used cars online. I found a car that I was interested in at Toyota Marin. I indicated my interest via an online form and I received a call from them immediately. My husband and I went to see the car over the weekend. First of all, the used cars are posted for sale on sites like Auto Trader before they have been inspected and serviced and cleaned. So we found ourselves looking at newly traded in vehicles that still had not been serviced and cleaned including the car we were interested in which had obvious cosmetic problems that the picture didn't show. The sales guy listened to what I was looking for in a car and he steered us to a used Volvo. It looked like it had been taken care of and he assured me that they don't trade in lemons and they don't sell them. He assured me that the vehicle would be fully inspected , that it was guaranteed and they would repair anything that they found that would be a problem and we would get a report to indicate what they found and what they did fix and what they didn't fix and we could look at it before taking the car off the lot. We never did get that report. He assured us that they check carfax and that they are a dealership with integrity, offering a 3 day return although I can tell you now that 3 days usually isn't enough time to discover the problems that you will inevitably find if you buy a used car from Toyota Marin. When there was some problem with financing, they tried to steer me to some crappy little car that had nothing to do with my original needs and when I said okay, thanks but no thanks and began to leave, he had me wait and suddenly they were able to finance the car. I wish now that I had kept walking.

They kept the car for the inspection, cleaning and service. When my husband picked it up, he was not given the carfax report nor was he given the inspection report. A week after we got the car, the check engine light went on. We brought it back and Dennis in service sent it to Volvo of Marin and repairs were supposedly made. We never received the diagnostic report from Volvo. However, since the repair was covered, we figured that was it. However, 6 weeks later, the check engine light went on again and the car was bucking and stuttering. We were told by Toyota of Marin to go to the nearest Volvo dealership since we bought a warranty from Toyota Marin that would only be honored if we went to a certified dealership. Volvo in Walnut Creek told us that all five ignition coils were cracked, one badly, and they highly recommended replacing all five ignition coils and the spark plugs. The spark plugs? Toyota of Marin was supposed to do an inspection and tune up and replace everything basic like oil filters and spark plugs. And yet, there we were having to replace the spark plugs along with five very obviously cracked ignition coils. When Volvo called our Warranty company, they refused to pay for the repairs.

So not only does Toyota Marin sell lemons they also sell useless and bad Warranties on used cars. So far, the repairs have cost us 900 dollars plus 90 for a rental. Our awesome finance deal? Our car payments are 350 dollars a month. When I called the General Manager of Toyota of Marin and left a detailed message of what happened, he never returned my call. The sales guy, a floor manager in the used car division, Jordan Sanchez, returned my husband's repeated calls five days after our initial call to tell my husband that it's just ""normal wear and tear."" Normal wear and tear on a car we have had for 6 weeks? You don't get five cracked ignition coils after six weeks of using a car. Every service person who we have talked to from Svennsons to Volvo in Walnut Creek to our local repairman in Lafayette all said that's bogus. They have all said we got screwed. So avoid Toyota of Marin.
