I used to come here, but my colorist Mia left so of course I followed her when I found her. It took some work to locate her but I found her at Stilo. I still give this salon 3 stars for the stylist that used to cut my hair here, I say ""used to"" because I don't come here anymore since I found a fabulous stylist at my new salon.

First of all, I would like to say that since I am in beauty school I no longer go to L salon, but did so, off and on for 5 yrs with Maria, she was always attentive to my needs and ALWAYS delivered! She's not only a great colorist but her haircuts are just as good. My props to her and I would Highly recommend her to anyone!!

UPDATE: Elaine and Victoria are now at Stilo!!!
I called the salon last week to make an appointment with my colorist, Victoria, and was really disappointed to hear that she is no longer there. I asked the receptionist if she could tell me where she was and instead she pushed me to choose one of 2 other colorists they had. I did not want another colorist! I love Victoria, she is the only person I trust to get my color right. I called my friend Jen, who also goes to Victoria, to tell her news and Jen told me Victoria was still in San Mateo but moved to Stilo Salon. Yay!!! I saw her at her new spot, and now I am the happiest woman on earth! I gave 3 stars on this review because Victoria is no longer here, but my stylist is still here.

I went to this salon based on their before and after photos, which were withit and flattering. I paid over $300 for a cut and color. The owner/stylist did not listen to me, and gave me exactly what I specifically said I didn't want; a boring bob which is also FAR shorter than what I had agreed to. The colorist was going to ""jazz it up"" but instead I got mousey brown with highlights that barely show eccept for color lines in several places. I could have gone to Supercuts for this hair. I will say that the work was done skillfuly, I just HATE what was done.

Lynn is the best! The first time i went to her she took the time to ask me what I wanted and we talked about my previous hair styles and decided on something that would shape my face the best. She is meticulous and does an excellent job. I've been to her twice so far since the girl I used to go to left, and both times she did a great job. I was very satisfied and plan on going back. I definitely recommend this salon to others.

My appointment was for a color and cut. First off, let me just say that I have been to a number of high end salons in the bay area and while the atmosphere was good, this was definitely not one of them.
The colorist was fifteen minutes late for our appointment and I was given no notice. More importantly, I told her explicitly that I did not want red in my hair. I ended up with strong red overtones in my hair. Furthermore, the hair stylist was rude, impatient and cut my hair in less than twenty minutes (I had long hair). After I had explained to him my preferences and what I wanted, he butchered my bangs and chopped them extremely short. It looks really bad, like the type of haircut you get at Great Clips.
This salon is overrated and inconsistent and is not worth the cost.

You go into a salon that has a head stylist for $110 you expect a great haircut. At first as she was cutting it looked cute but then she began chopping it off and yes it looks somewhat ok when i style it the way we talked about, but you can not do anything else with the hair. IHalf of it is short-in the front- half of it is long in the back! A total disaster! To call yourself a professional and charge so much money, I think its a horrible lie. I went to some of the best stylists in NY for that price and looked like a doll. She she should not be allowed near hair! Horrible, just horrible, I can imagine what do with myself until it all grows out and I can restyle this disaster. Do not go to Elizabeth.

UPDATE: This place just isn't the same without Victoria and Elaine. I made the mistake of coming to see another hair cutter and colorist because I did not know where to find these ladies when they left and it was a bad bad bad mistake. I have since then found my girls and am loving my hair once again.
OLD REVIEW: I went to L Salon after checking it out on Citysearch. I was very nervous at first because of the mixed reviews. I went in wanting a different style and color than what I already had. I went in for a consultation (it was free!) and came back the next week to have my hair done. I had ideas of what I wanted, and got exactly that and more! This was the best experience I have ever had at ANY salon, by far. I cant even count how many compliments I have received or how many times people have asked me where I got my hair done. Staff is very friendly, professional and well trained. I had my cut by Elaine and my color with Victoria. I will definitely be back...I have already booked my next visit! I highly recommend this place.

I absolutely LOVE L'salon. I have been going there for about 2-3 years now, and love it more and more every time. I especially love their colorists; they are very knowledgeable. I have gone to many other salons in the Bay Area, before I found L'salon, and was never fully satisfied. No other salon has EVER been able to get my color right. My hair always turned out orange and brassy. The staff members I have dealt with there were always very pleasant. I have referred over 10 family and friends, and all of them love this place as much as I do. Colorists and stylist are highly trained. Definitely worth the money.

sept 2005- I heard they were the best salon. I had a special occasion and I wanted brown hair color with lite brown highlights. It was simply a shade or two lighter than what I already had. The stylist didnt really talk to me or make me feel comfortable. He just took the picture, looked at it and said ""ok."" After paying WAY too much money, I left with JET BLACK hair and some yellow-toned highlights... The salon is chic and modern, but my hair was a complete disaster.... I dont know if it was an off day for him, but I will not go back...
june 2006- i decided to give lsalon another try after a horrible experience a year ago. my friend had a very nice color job there so i though, why not? i walked in with medium brown base and light brown/dark blonde highlights... i just wanted a touch up on the color because my roots grew out... after 2 1/2 hours, i came out of the salon with dark brown hair with a very obvious red undertone and auburn highlights that were not place evenly on my head... this time, i REALLY wont be going back!!!
