Last December, we had picked out a great quality solid Antique 3/4 in x 5 in wood called Taun Teak from the warehouse ( store ) of the Factory Direct Floor for less than $3.90 per s.f. = half price of elsewhere we have searched ( me & my partner ) for our new house which was still under construction. Last month, finally after everything was completed except the flooring ( the company advised to be installed the last to avoid damages and scratched during the construction period ), we had the Factory Direct's installation crew in to start the "nail down" installation. Before commenting about their good work, let's start off with: - I called in and stated that we have purchsed the flooring in Dec last year and now are ready for installation. The nice gentleman on the line asked for my invoice number to pull me up to his computer screen and scheduled a date for delivery and a date for installation. I was wondering if they could start the same day of delivery so he was patiently explaining about how solid wood needs a few days of acclimation inside the room before installation for the best result. Ok, fair enough and very professional. - Two gentlemen arrived 5 minutes before the appointment time for the delivery, moved box by box ( I guess 70-80 lb each ) into my living room and opened the ends and asked me to count and receive the 85 boxes. Ok, on time, polite, no extra talking, well trained drivers. - 9:15 am of the installation date, 3 installers showed up at our door with a truck of tools, machines, pumps, and whatever they need for the job. The Crew Lead Pat asked for every detail that they need to know includes the direction of the flooring planks, space of cutting work, what edge and stair color variation we prefer, and the closet doors to meet the floor...after received all the answers from me, the hard workers started the job without talking or playing any loud music or smoking or singing like some other contractors did in our house before. - There was another gentleman I think he said his name was Wang, the site manager, has stopped by and checked the work twice during the installation period and communicated with Pat about a couple detail - 5 days later, the beautiful floor has been completed! we love it! Pat asked us to call their office to let Steve know that we were happy with the work so they left after the floor's cleaned and all the garbage's taken out of the house into their truck. - 1 week later, we received a copy of our final paid in full invoice and the manufacturer floor warranty and the workmanship warranty from their corporate office's email. - last week, we referred our neighbor to the Factory Direct Floor for their house's new hardwood floor project. They came back with a home made cake with thanks and told us that we have just saved them close to $5000 for 1500 s.f. because Factory Direct has both lower prices on matrerial and labor compare to the price they found. Ok, that's what I told you right?

The best thing in my house is the floor Oh No...someone doesn't like to see my favorite flooring company stays busy..oh well I believe Factory Direct Floor is busy due to its price, service and the most important, nice people who work on this project. Thanks Tom, Teri, Tugs and the helpers. I live in a newer condominium built in 2011, 5800 Third St, San Francisco. Most of the buyers took the basic carpet from the builder instead of the upgraded wood flooring that cost 4-5 time of Factory Direct's prices. Our HOA wasn't easy to work with, it took 3 weeks to get my kitchen cabinets project approved but Factory Direct Floor was on the file with other units they have done before mine, with the completed document required by HOA, Factory Direct's approved for flooring in 2 days by my HOA, but flooring was the last thing to be installed after kitchen..sigh.. Of Course Factory Direct Floor has the proper paperwork, the valid contractor license and the insurance policy that our HOA requests, I had to fill out the HOA paper again with all the document even they were on file already. However, the documents were not the only reason I decided to do business with the Factory Direct. I know for sure the Factory Direct has done at least 4 other units in our building beforr I applied. Jimmy, who has found this wonderful company and became their first customer in the building. Johnathan on the 3/F, Dianna on the 4/F, and Tim I forgot which unit he's at, all of them are very happy with everything includes the price, floor quality, and the installation workmanship. With their referral, I had visited the company twice in order to select and decide on a Hickoy distressed engineer floor from their thousands of items displayed at minimum 45% below other floor stores I found. It came with a lifetime warranty from the brand as well as the workmanship warranty from the store. The installation was just awesome by the crew that did Tim's unit but not other 3 units. I had over ordered a little prepared for some cutting waste so we had 1 full box left at the end of the job and the installers took it back to the warehouse for a full refund no restocking charge or penalty. I know that all 5 of us have sent more neighbors to Factory Direct Floor these couple of years and the HOA also started to tell the new buyers that Factory Direct Floor is our preferred flooring guy of this building as well as 5900 Third St. - Jean C.
Hi, I have read all the great reviews on this page about how good the prices and selection of the Factory Direct's flooring so I went all the way from Santa Clara and purchased the new hardwood floor named ' acacia ' for my house and was installed by the company crew. Beautiful! I had no doubt about the low prices and the great selection here but this is the review about their great customer service. The sales manager Tom was the greatest professional I've met in the remodeling field. He has given me all straight and honest answers for almost a hundred questions I have asked a lot because this is the very first flooring project for my first own house in my life, youknow how it is. After I purchased the floor, he has requested their in house crew to call me for installation appointment. I thought I have to wait for a few days before someone will call me just like any other home remodeling companies do, believe or not, the crew lead named Bat, has called my cell phone right after I got into my car from signing the flooring project at their office, guess 3-4 minutes! he has booked a day to deliver my wood for acclimation ( don't understand that but they said its industrial standard required ) and a day to start installation a week from delivery. Bat, a nice man and his 2 helpers showed up right on time 5 pm sharp at delivery appointment and moved all boxes into my house and stacked up with opening box ends ( acclimation ) and inspected the site with telling me some minor work that I have to prepare as a home owner. They then returned a week later and installed all the loose planks on my floor that became a great looking flooring with all bunch of tools, nails, guns, pumps, etc. I did not understand the procedure but I did not ask a question because I already have trusted that the company knows what they are doing from that point. 4 days have passed, and the beautiful flooring has been done which changed the entire look of my house. Bat has called his installation manager to report that the job has been completed with customer ( me ) satisfied and agreed to pay the final balance with my credit card. They then have taken every single piece of the old carpet and garbage for disposal and left me home alone to think about what's the next I need to do for my new house. The whole process, no hassel, no pain, but pleasure.
The below one star reviews written by the same gentleman. We know who he is and why he's doing this: he was once a good flooring sale manager and was treated very well by the company but has gone a different direction...other of his team members are doing very well by either opening their own stores or hired by our company. We do not appreciate the fake reviews but all our customers know us as: - we are a Stocking Outlet Dealer with 3.5 million sqft of quality Flooring inventory at all seasons ( you come you see them ) - we carry over 65 national famous name brands ( 1500+ items) include Mullican, Mirage, Urban Floor, Johnson Premium Hardwood, Provenza, California Classics...all with thousands of dealers countrywide and great manufacturer warranty ( you come you see them ) - our operation here has 4 forklifts, 13 trucks & vans, and 12 in-house professional installation crews - we carry a valid $2 million liability insurance by Farmers Insurance and 32 San Francisco, South San Francisco, Walnut Creek, San Mateo, Emeryville, Oakland, San Jose major high & mid rise condos' HOA has our CA contractor's license and insurance on file. eg. The Water Mark (SF), The Beacon ( SF), The Brannan ( SF)...and hundreds of condo units customers are on our reference list ( you ask for it, you get it) - we have been in wholesale for 26 years and serve a large group of commercial customers like builders, real estate agents, investors, contractors, dealers, flooring brokers, and small distributors so we have to stock this large inventory all the time for fast turn around time which is an advantage for outlet customers ( home owners ) who may need to buy and pick up immediately. - just like us, specializes in hardwood flooring, Lumber Liquidators is a national flooring dealership with over 100 locations, we compete with them and respect them. I believe their warranty is backed up by the publicly traded company. On the other hand, Costco is a grocery outlet who only carries a few laminate floors.
I'm the trucking service provider for this company and I know almost every employee here, Teri, Tom, Calvin, Joe, Steve, Alex, Frank, CY, Wang, Henry, Agi, Bagi, Hoi, bagi & the installation guys... everyone's very friendly and professional and that's the reason the company has been in business for over 2 dozen of years. We carry the heavy wood flooring almost every day for the last 10 years to their out of area customers, from their southern california vendors, to their branches, and sometimes out of state locations. They are busy all the time but the guys are still very patient to take good care of their customers. I had sent them at least 20 customers after my floor's done perfectly by the Factory Direct Floor. My clients and friends are very happy with the floors and they have sent customers their way too. I was asked to write a review for them because they were attacked by someone who was selling flooring does not like them to be busy here. Ok, I am on the reference list, one of a few thousands with the names, phone numbers, and the brief information for new customers to contact for references if they want to. A solid business with good price, selection, and service will stay long in business even someone is trying to write bad about it. Customers will visit the store and see what they do and have after they read the reviews no matter good or bad, fake or real, then judge with their eyes and brain and even call some of their thousands of references before purchases. So I do not think the bad reviews have attacked you guys but have brought more curious customers over. There is really a huge warehouse full of flooring and mouldings in stock - I guess about 4000 pallets stock all seasons at just their San Leandro warehouse. Selection - I think is way too many but I guess they need them to compete. Prices and quality - no need to mention, always the best per my experience and the people I referred
After a lot of my co-workers written on our company ( Oracle ) employee forum that everyone is very happy with the hardwood floors supplied and installed by Factory Direct Floor, we finally decided to do our floor last October. we found the prices the best here after stopped 3 hardwood stores on our ways here from San Jose. With lots of great choices of quality products by various name brands, it was very hard to make decision. The sales team was very knowledgeable and patient to assist us so we landed with a solid Kempas from Indonesia. There was a section with China flooring products which has been discontinued. The quality of them were actually very good with thick and supreme anti-scratch finish but we did not want to buy the discontinued products. We were told that actually the Made in China floors are not cheap but more expensive than floors made in other countries because of the high import duty and its continued increasing labor and exchange rate. There are only some big brand names like California Classic, Urban Floor, and Provenza can still import from China with some exemption and most of the brands like Johnson Premium Hardwood has moved their suppliers to Brazil or Malaysia since years ago. The professional company installers arrived right on their appointment time to delivery the wood and open cartons inside the house for acclimation per the manufacturer instruction. They were very polite and knowledgeable to handle our questions and concerns related to the installation. The crew returned to install the hardwood floor a few days later and things went just smooth as what we expected. 2 weeks later, I found a final paid invoice with a warranty filed copy of the flooring in the mail box. Great job! I have also recommended this company at the company forum as well as referred my neighbors who were interested in the floor. Me and several of my co-workers are on their reference list as well.
Hello, half of this review is written on behalf of my brother Ethan ( he does not do online avtivities ) who lives in Berkeley California. He has purchased 1200 square feet of solid premium exotic cherry 3/4 by 5 inch prefinished hardwood floor from Factory Direct Floor in San Leandro 2 years ago and had one of the company installers Baki installed in his new house. Me and my wife saw the floor when we were visiting Ethan's family last Christmas and we both had fell in love with this beautiful and strong floor. Ethan said the material price and the labor charge total was a little over $6200 and the wood has been produced with excellent craftmanship. The Factory Direct Floor installers delivered the wood one week before the installation date and installed them within 5 days with excellent workmanship. The floor is a nicer brand with a 30 years manufacturer warranty and additional workmanship warranty at no additional cost. We have visited Factory Direct Floor while we were in town and have purchased the same floor and required the LTL shipping to our house in Portland Oregan. The company had the floor in stock and had it shipped in one week. We have hired a local Portland installation company to get the flooring installed with Factory Direct Floor's professional recommendation of a longer in room acclimation due to the humidity difference between N California and Portland as well as some detail installation tips. The floor is looking beautiful now and everyone in the house loves it! My wife was looking for a matching transition molding locally because we didn't know we need one at purchasing and she said the price of the flooring we have paid to Factory Direct Floor was about half ( 50%) of the price in a local flooring retailer for the same quality and grade of Cherry. - Ethan & Bryson
well...rushed in yesterday after received their email about the "huge" year end sale...it was a bit crazy...the showroom was packed with lots of people...guess everyone's there to get the same "year end deal" hehe... purchased the solid 3/4 inch x 5 inch solid brazilian teak aka cumaru at $4.99 per sqft saved $1800 on my order of 1000 sq.ft. because the lowest price of this same quality I have searched is $6.79 per sqft from Lumber Liquidators. My neighbor, Mr Guy Yin who did his nice Mahogany floor with the company has referred me to factory direct floor said their installation work is also awesome so I requested the installation but unfortunately I was told that all the 11 company crews have been fully scheduled for the next 3 weeks...I'm thinking to wait due to their low $2 all included installation rate as Brazilian teak is extremely hard wood which is very tough to be properly installed as I read online or I need to spend some effort to find an individual installer with sooner availability but not sure if he is as good and reliable. The only complain I have is that I have waited 40 minutes to place the order...there was only one nice sales person who was helping the full house of customers!! he said everyone else was on the long weekend vacation except this poor guy... I advise the company to prepare for the next "huge Sale" event with more sales people on the floor so sincere customers like myself don't have to wait for this long in the cold weather... by the way, there are a lot of pallets ( i guess over a thousand of pallets ) stacking in their huge warehouse just like other reviewers said so I feel very comfortable dealing with a company with big inventory and low prices.
We had our really horrible floors replaced with some great Indonesian Cherry and we were lucky enough to choose Factory Dirct Flooring. Andy came out and gave us a very reasonable quote and took care of everything after that. We went in the warehouse ( that was the toughest part to pick up from their almost 2000 hardwood selections ) and spent almost 3 hours ( no pushy at all ) to pick out the solid Indonesian cherry for only $2.89 per sf ( its 3/4" x 4" first grade prefinish compare to $4.99 per sf at the other dealer 2 blocks away ). Teri was very patient and helpful at the showroom. The team that came out were professional and very considerate. They worked quickly, cleaned up after themselves and we ended up with exactly what we wanted. Their site manager Frank who manages 8 crews was very professional and patient in listening about the way we wanted our library to be installed the way different than other rooms. I would highly recommend them and would readily use them again. We have recently had another crew from Factory Direct led by CY out again, this time to lay hardwood in our pool house ( the floor looks so great in the main house so we decided to do it in the pool house ). The guys that came out did an excellent job again. They talked through what they needed to do asked me appropriate questions and gave me some advice. They finished the work quickly and we are very happy with the end results. I have agreed to be listed as one of their references with my name and project information. If you see my name on the list, call me!
My wife and I just bought a beautiful three story Victorian home in SF and needed to have the hardwood floors refinished. I chose the Factory Direct Floor because they had so many great hardwood selections in stock so I thought their refinishing work should be also very professional. They were on time and professional throughout the job of 2900 sf. They completed all three floors and the staircase. The maple staircase was covered in awful brown carpet and the second floor was a mishmash of several carpets that all had to be removed. Underneath the carpet was a decent pine floor but it was painted and needed to be sanded and patched. On the third floor we thought we had hardwood but only had it for about 1/2 the room and that was after extensive patching by the guys. They gave us a great price on doing all the floors and even when we ran into problems (or I made a request for patching etc) they met the challenge and never asked for a penny more than the price they had given me. They moved quickly to accommodate our need for the floors to be done prior to moving in. The manager Kelvin was always available to answer questions and was very responsive to concerns. In the end, the floors came out amazing and are by far the best feature of our new home. I would definitely recommend this business for any wood project.
