I have been very pleased with Mission De La Casa. My mother-in-law was placed in this facility based on our request. There was very few facilities that we could choose from based on my mother-in-laws needs, dementia, wandering etc and that took MediCal. I assumed that if the facility took MediCal that we might not get the quality that we would at other facilities, but I have to say, even though I don't have a lot of other places to compare to, we have been very pleased at the care of the staff. We get to see my mother-in-law twice a week and sometimes 3 times. Every time we come to see her she is well cared for. They braid her hair and make her look nice. The place is always clean and I always see staff that are in the process of cleaning, so it is something they do on going. The activities director, gets her involved in the music programs and says she loves to sing and dance. When ever we take her out of the facility, several of the staff will say bye to her by name as she is walking out, even though they do not work at her station. On Wednesdays the staff give the patients pedicures and massage their calves and forearms. So even though the place has a hospital feel in the dementia until, the people are so nice and take good care of her. they are always glad to see us and know all our names. So overall I would give them very high ratings. I am very surprised at the other reviews. That has not been my experience at all.
If only there were only no stars at all. A half star would be too much!!

My grandmother was transferred here from the hospital after she had a stroke and she was treated horribly. Not only was she neglected by the staff, the doctor was NEVER available. I kept hearing my grandmother crying about the staff being mean to her, but I couldn't believe it at first. Yet, when my grandmother started to show bruises and rashes after telling me stories of being ignored for hours on wait, I was so speechless that a facility that claims to care for the elderly and the ill would treat their residents so terribly!!
After confronting the nurse station, the nurses and staff just assured the family that my grandmother would have more attention and care. The next day I went back...SAME THING AGAIN!!!!
This time, my grandmother said that she was crying all night because instead of helping her with the diaper change and such, the noc-shift yelled at her after pushing her around!!! Who does that?? My grandmother is still very conscious and oriented yet the staff had no intention to acknowledge the fact that they were hiding paperworks and documentation to why my grandmother was being treated this way!!
DO NOT KILL YOUR LOVED ONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE THEM HOME OR FIND A BETTER FACILITY!!!
First and foremost. I regret deep in my heart every second of the time I brought my father here. He stayed here short term. My Father was hospitalized several times because of infection on this facility he contracted while staying her. Unfortunately, my dad develop systemic infection that lead to his death eventually. The M.D told me because of combination of systemic infection and dehydration, my dad went to ICU. I totally blame it to this facility due to neglect, lack of urgency of nursing judgement and very poor nursing quality care.
A name MARY GRACE ENRIQUEZ nurse(Filipina?) at station 1 east. I am not sure of last name. She was just sitting at the chair and not doing anything when another nurse call for her attention regarding my dad's condition. Much worst, she was just using her personal cellphone talking. I was very dissapointed and called my brother to tell him about dads condition with this. This MARY GRACE stood up and told me to wait. Instead, she was with another male asian staff, doing this whorish and sluttish act inside this room in the back of nurses station. I really dont care but she should have prioritized the patient first as a general rule in this setting. I was very very dissapointed and went back to check on my dad's worsening condition.
Nothing personal but this MaryGrace nurse needs to be reprimanded or be removed from her job. Because of her ineptness and whorish act and behavior while at work. Also the staff here are very slow to react. Passive instead of Proactive. they were also snubbish. When I came back to nurses station again, This MaryGrace was just chitchatting with this very skinny male Asian social worker (Philip or something was the name I think) laughing and playing at nurses station. I am not here to talk BAD with people. But after all what happen to my dad. They can never put his life back. Hopefully the Owner of this place read this review to this facility and do something to correct it.

Do not send your loved ones here. They might die in short time due to neglectful care.
It seems this place is very very understaffed. If your love one fell in the room, the staffs never know as she/he is never around, it is only found out late, hour during the day time, during night, it's tough luck. It is lucky enough that your love one getting diaper changed TWICE a day. Try to do the laundry yourself and you will see the wet pant with heavy urinated smell, sometimes with the dirty diapers. Most of the visiting family member coming here to do their jobs (diaper changing, feeding, water drinking, cleaning) Once in a while, you might get a decent staff but it is very rare. Try to visit your love in the early morning or late evening, you will see more how your loved one is treated. and how is the response of the staffs when it is in need even with minor things (drinking water, need help going to bathroom) The call light is nothing, no response !!! The staffs do not seem to understand dementia patient care. There are no activities to stimulate, still, most of dementia patient are not allowed to join the activities, no matter what kind of these activities. On top of that, the family member does paid for the outings (in form of ""donation"")
I discovered many deficiencies in my parent's care. When I brought them up to management and RNs and the social worker; Instead of correcting them they just defended themselves and gets annoying saying they did not have time or it's not the way it operated here. The facility doctor is unresponsive, it is VERY VERY HARD to get a hold of the doctor or if you have a medical need to discuss. Most of the staffs do not look at it as a vocation. Sometimes I just wonder how they care for their sick elderly one.

hi- i am a care provider trying to coordinate care. I am letting the phone ring until the phone company stops it, THREE DIFFERENT TIMES between 11:30 and noon on 7/22/2010, but i am now giving up. Although I have physician orders to relay on one of the residents, i am unable to make contact. Perhaps the phone number is changed? The web site still gives the number that i am using. Don't know what to do....

Hello all, I wanted to let you know about a great place for seniors. I see residents smiling, having fun and participating in activities. Our residents say ""can't think of a better place to be,"" ""Overall this place is good,"" ""Everything here is very good and very clean."" The staff are happy and smiling, everyone is so friendly. There are many, many visitors each day; families and friends alike. The residents go on outings to local resturants and celebrate holidays with one another.

Just called there--had to call back 5 times!! First two times I was on hold FOREVER! Second and third time, I complained to the incompetent person who's answering the phone, Cindy, who then screwed up again and transfered me to someone in the kitchen who was rude both times and just hung up on me after telling me to call the main number AGAIN, because she didn't know how to transfer people.
