The lounge is pleasant and upscale, (three TVs for sporting events) white table cloths and plenty of seating. We sat up at the bar. Ended up ordering dinner to go from their menu. The food is excellent. The filet mignon burgers were fabulous and cooked to order w/large seasoned steak fries. The french dip sandwich was generous with the tender meat and the bread was fresh. We also ordered the Eastern scallop dinner, came with fresh steamed vegetables, baked potato, salad and the scallops were melt in your mouth smooth and drenched in a wonderful butter sauce. I have been back for happy hour with friends and in the lounge with your beverage you can order any food item you want. We had the fresh bay shrimp cocktail. For $7.50 it's very large, lots of shrimp with fresh lettuce garnish, tasty cocktail sauce on the side and a fresh lemon wedge. Yummy.

I don't want to even give this place one star. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I went to the Drying Shed last night for their New Year's Eve gala. Friends suggested we go there and were raving about this restaurant. So I was willing to spend the $39 for myself and my friends spent $75 for being a couple. When we first entered the place, there was no receptionist to greet us. Eventually a woman came up and said if we were going to the New Year's eve gala to just walk straight back. She didn't even walk us back like most restaurants do. We walked past some booths into a big area that had round tables set up. I looked to the side where there was a table setup with a Mary statue, soiled linens, a broken ornament and a big door knob on the table. When we spoke to the lady who was in charge, she told us what we were supposed to pay. The sign in front said $39 dollars per person. I gave her $40 and instead of giving me a dollar back, she said ""it is $40 dollars"" and stuck the money in the book she was holding. Then we sat down and she told us to help ourselves to the hor'dourves. We went up and saw they were serving food that we could buy at the local Save Mart or Safeway. Dinner wasn't any better. I picked up a dirty plate and served myself to so-so food. There were three tables setup and one table where the plates were had a bunch of table cloths in a pile in front of it. And the dessert was a joke. We were supposed to have live entertainment and all we had was some guy on a microphone singing a few songs. And then another guy was sitting in the background just playing songs...not a professional DJ at all. And to top it off, I went into the bathroom and in my stall there was no toilet seat covers and the toilet seat cover case was taped partially to the wall with grey making tape. It was disgusting. The whole place just looked like a dump. Because we spent so much money, we ended up staying until 10:00 but we couldn't wait to get out of there. Now I wished we asked for our money back and left earlier. When one of my friends called and complained about the experience he had, the man on the phone was rude and hung up on my friend. It is a no class dump. Please don't waste your money going there...it is not worth it.

The restaurant is located up towards the east hills of san jose,inside a shopping center with good size parking and good location. When I arrived to meet my party, there was no host at the entrance and i had to look for some one to seat me. When i met my party the waitress did not greet me or offer me a menu. She totally ignored me. The second time the waitress came she did the same, only after i told the bus boy to ask the waitress for a menu one was brought out by the bus boy with a glass of water, the menu sheets were stained, looked very bad. When the waitress finally took my order, it probably took 30 to 40 minutes to get my main dish(Filet o Sole), the salad came out quite sooner 10min w/o any utensils and napkins, i had to wait for them and they still forgot the napkin i had to tell one of the persons in my group to get me a napkin, the salad was not good it had a lot of leaves with stems(are they feeding cows or what?). When i got my main dish the fish was oily wich was suppose to be grilled and the rice was really hard, the water tasted like chlorine,when i asked the waitress for bread, she said they ran out, what kind of restaurant runs out of bread, (cheap one or bad managed). The prices are high, the portions are small and the service is really bad. I don't reccommend this place to any one unless you feel like chasing people down. THE DRYING SHED, DRY ON SERVICE AND PERSONNEL.
P.S. Exception to the bus boy who is probably the only employee who does like his job and the only reason people get served. GOOD JOB BUS BOY!!!

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!! This place is out to con you out of your money! The owner Ed and his staff are rude and a bunch of liars. They moved my friend out of the banquet room into the restaurant area 3 days before her wedding. They then proceeded to tell her that she had signed up for the dingy, dirty, dark restaurant area. They totally ruined her Big Day!!!! People had to stand up to look over the booths in order to see the bride and groom. What kind of wedding set up is that!!! To top this the place needs a complete makeover.
I cannot believe the service I had the first and only time I was there. The service at this place is very poor. While I was trying to have brunch the waitress must have came by our booth about 3 times to ask if we were done eating, all the while never coming back to even refill our glass of orange juice or to bring us the requested condiments. I have never been to a restaurant where the waitress asks if we are done eating 15 mins after sitting down. And since I was invited to have brunch there with friend s who said they know the owner and that the service usually better I gave the restaurant the benefit of my doubts. I also needed a place to have my wedding reception(100 People) and decided to have it at another place but was pressured by my fiancé and her friend to have it there. After giving Ed the owner a deposit I had to use the men’s bath room and was discussed with the unpainted wooden panels they used for the restroom stalls. I decided to call Ed and to tell him I decided to cancel my event at his location and asked for my deposit to either be returned or some how give me a restaurant credit in the form of certificate. He said the only way he would give me a credit was if I had 100 people or more come to the restaurant. I think he should have been little bit understanding with my explanation and met me half way. I really don’t understand how this guy is still in business.

I've been in the restaurant business for many years in The Bay Area and The Drying Shed is probably not the worst I've eaten at , but definitely one of them. Firstly, the hostess was terrible and very rude. My family and I weren't sure how many of our invitees were joining us for dinner and the hostess was not very nice or helpful and left my family waiting in their lounge (very puny lounge). The hostess proceeded to sit other customers who she called by their first names. I assumed they were regulars ( And need I say a lighter shade) and it seemed she was more interested in helping them first . Then she told us we could not drink water in the lounge because their was a two-drink minimum ! Secondly, the food was cold and stale and it seemed as if the hostess, who also was waitressing us, was trying to get us in and out. Absolutely horrendous service ! I was appalled ! Lastly, my mother gave her a fifty dollar bill and asked for change and she returned with two ten dollar bills and continued to argue with my mother that my mom gave her a twenty dollar bill ! (She never gave my mom the correct change). Being in service for many years does not mean the place is great or even good. If you want to get ripped off please come to The Drying Shed they'll leave your wallet dry !

My family and I had brunch at the Drying Shed on Mothers Day '08. We had reservations but we were pleasantly surprised with how quickly we were seated since it was very busy. There was a good variety of dishes and everything we tried was delicious. The service was excellent . We're happy to have finally tried this restaurant because it's less than 10 minutes from our home and of course you want to support your local merchants. I will definitely go there again. The prices were quite reasonable, especially on a Mothers Day where one could easily pay half again more than the $22 each that we did.

LAST NIGHT WE HAD A PARTY OF OVER 40 PEOPLE AND IT THE WORST PLACE WE COULD HAVE HAD OUR PARTY. FIRST OF ALL THE APPERTIZERS WE ORDERED WERE ALL FROZEN FOOD FROM COSTCO. AND THE SUPPOSEDLY FANCY PLACE PUT OUT STALE CHIPS AND PRETZELS AND HAD THE GULL TO CHARGE US $50 FOR THEM! THE SERVICE WAS THE WORST THE LADY THAT CLAIMS TO BE THE OWNER YELLED AT ALL OUR GUESTS AND THREW OUR FOOD ON THE TABLE! THE FOOD WAS VERY OVER RATED. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE SERVICE WAS THE WORST, WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SPECIAL EVENING WAS RUINED BY THE HORRENDOUS SERVICE. OUR PARTY SPENT WELL OVER $1200 AND IT WAS A WASTE. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE. A PLACE LIKE THIS NEEDS TO TAKE A CRASH COURSE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. MY WORST FEAR OF ALL IS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 26 YEARS. BEWARE BEWARE DO NOT GO THERE! GO TO COSTCO AND BUY WHAT THEY SERVE. THEY EVEN BUY THEIR STALE DINNER ROLLS THERE!

I would have to admit to being an expert on seafood. It's what I love. Last week my son and I ordered the fried prawn appetizer. It was so delicious we both ordered prawns again for dinner. We had a prawn fest!! Although we did have to take some home as our appetites are average and the portions are enormous. Included with the dinner is a choice of soup or salad, potato, rice pilaf or fries and steamed veggies. I had blue cheese salad dressing and it was generously loaded with real blue cheese. My son had the soup du jour which was clam chowder. He said it was the best he ever ate. I skipped the starch and had extra veggies. They were fresh and steamed to my liking. I really hate soggy vegetables so it's nice when a chef gets it right. My son had a baked potato with all the trimmings. Along with dinner they serve mini loafs of warm bread. According to the food server, the prawns are freshly breaded daily. You can sure taste the diference between these and frozen . The sweet taste of the prawn is not overwelmed by thick batter breading. They have a very light coat. The service was excellent. Both a man and a women served us. it didn't seem to be a territorial thing like some places are. You know the old ""It's not my table "" routine. They were both friendly and attentive. We sat in a very comfortable booth Lighting was good enough to read the menu but not bright and interrogating. Parking was easy. It has a large lot and the spaces are wide, not just for compact vehicles. This was a bonus since I had just had knee surgery and don't have a handicap placard. We will definitely go there again soon.

This place is so bad words can barely describe how awful it is. We ate Easter Brunch here a month ago and I hated it. My friends wanted to give it another try so we went for Mother's Day. So much for giving this place the benefit of the doubt. Not only is the food old and stale so is the owner and his staff. We were greeted by a receptionist who obviously hates her job and shows it by the way she greets the customers. The food is the worst! The shrimp smells/taste bad, the lasagna is burned, the salad is aged brown and the desserts are dry. These people pile old food on top of the so called ""fresh stuff"". Don't waste your time or money here. It's overpriced. You are better off at the McDonalds down the road.
