Just had lunch for two at Tian Sing Chinese Restaurant. We tried the chilli peppers (capsicums) with black bean & chilli oil, stir fried brisket with baby eggplant and chilli, and Hunan style crisp belly pork with chillies. We ate all the dishes with rice, Chinese style. The first dish, with its wok-blistered yellow and red chilli peppers and fried green chiilies, had a delicious flamboyance that was tempered by the smoky salty black beans and chilli oil. The brisket was tender and tasty, though a tad dry. The third dish consisted of melt-in-your-mouth belly pork morsels with chillies on a bed of diced snake beans. The fire of a hot wok was evident in the pork. The service was efficient and friendly. Tian Sing Chinese Restaurant is definitely worth a pilgrimage if you're a red hot chilli lover.
After zigzaging through the horrible SF downtown traffic on a friday afternoon, we finally got to Dim Sum Bar, after reading some decent Yelp reviews. We ordered 3 dishes: chicken, pork, and string beans with tofu. When all the dishes came, it turned out that all of them were deep fried. I guess that's really our fault for not reading the menu more carefully. We were hoping that the string bean and tofu was at least on the healthy side. The chicken and pork were not bad. But the string beans/tofu was one of the saltiest dishes I have ever had. I think they put way too much soy sauce. I guess it was also our fault that we were too nice to tell the waiter/owner. Customer service was not too shaby though.
This place is not for people without a sense of humor or adventure. After walking through the kitchen to get to the stairs that lead to the upper eating levels, We found ourselves in what I would describe as a ships galley. The surly yet amusing waitreess hands you menus and then informs you, " We no serve beer. You want beer, You go across the street to liquor store and bring it back." Did that. She gave us styrofoam cups to serve it in and before realizing a science lesson was to ensue. Warm beer + styrofoam equals Budweiser shaving cream. Food is army issue chinese. You get what you pay for, This is by far though the most bizarre dining experience I have ever had.
This place is fantastic - great food, decent price. I've actually never had a sit down meal here, although the inside looks like. My introduction was via their delivery service, which is pretty good and takes about 45 minutes to get to my Cole Valley flat, and from my almost-weekly to-go pickup en route to the Planet Granite climbing gym. The $15 minimum makes ordering for one irritating (because you end up with two entrees), but the food is worth it. Sesame chicken is delicious, the four seasons chow mein is pretty decent, and the lemon chicken is nice and crispy with the lemon sauce served on the side.
I love Chinese food, and this is my all time favorite place to enjoy it. I live in the East Bay, but I always try to find an excuse to eat here whenever possible, I've yet to try anything that wasn't tasty beyond my expectations. Everything from their home made leak dumplings and fresh chow mein noodles, crispy and flavorful chicken wings, cherry pork, and peanut noodles. I always order extra, so I can have some to take home with me. The place is a tasty delight and reasonably priced. But get their early, because at night it can get very busy!
I wound up there on a recomendation and was very pleased with the food. On the other hand, I found their dim sum "peddlars" to be very pushy and none of them knew the prices. 3 of us ate there and spent $110 on lunch. That was quite a bit, when I went there for just soup. If you know how to say NO and you have money to spend then I recommend the sea bass as well as the walnut prawns. I'll give them a 3 star rating, because the food was excellent but the dim sum waiters were too pushy.
Very convenient location! At first I would come to North Point Center just to go to Safeway or the gym but one day I decided to eat here with my girlfriend and I was blown away! The food is made fresh right in front of your eyes and the customer service is phenomenal. They remember you by name and they are always ready to serve you with a smile. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly. I definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Please do not expect you'd find good ambience, quiet, 5 stars service even when you are putting your order. What matters the most is the food and for the last decade i always came back to have lunch here during work days putting orders from the menu posted behind the cashier register. The last double digit years most of the time i usually ordered the fried fish over rice - i probably would say one of the best fried fish over rice in the city.
This is the first time I have been in San Francisco and this restaurant was the best I have had in a while! My husband and I got 10 dumplings a hot and sour soup and sweet cakes for $17!!! Really good food, great atmosphere!! Very bustling. I would go back in a heart beat and may just be heading back for supper tomorrow!!! There are a lot of different dumplings to try. Just go, try it, the food speaks for itself!
