It's ironic that I'm writing this review, seeing as I don't eat cow meat. Never developed a taste for it (blame my mother's cooking). But growing up in San Francisco, the House of Prime Rib was our meat-eating family's temple of taste. We had to dress up to go to HOPR, where all the mean wore ties and jackets.Me, I loved the salads - and I really hated salads. So that says something right there. And I would actually enjoy the prime rib and understand why my mother thought it was one of the basic food groups. Perfect service, too.And you know what? It hasn't changed. Still top quality, still great service. And I can't help it - I still go in a jacket (but no tie). It's that kind of place. The salads are still muy bueno, too, and the prime rib smells incredible. My dinner companions always make the appropriate ooos and ahhhs and nummy noises when we eat there. It's so great that this place has remained at the top of the restaurant pile in S.F. Now I just have to get over to Joe's, where I *will* eat meat in their Sloppy Joe's Special ... num!!
One of my all-time favorite restaurants! The food is amazing- you can order your meat exactly how you like it. They have the presentation down to an art - they toss your salad & dress your potato for you at the table so it's almost like a show. The atmosphere is romantic, however at high volume times it can get a little loud. If I did have a complaint it would be the wait& number of people when it's busy... But it's worth it for the quality of the meal!
This is probably the best priced steakhouse with one of the best views in San Francisco. You can get a cut of filet for about $35! All of the food is fairly priced. It's a very classy interior combined with a live pianist. The steak was of good quality and all of their sides are of huge proportions. One side is enough for 3-4 people.
Long wait but the food really is great, sure the wait was supposed to be 15-20 minutes but it ended up being about 30-40 minutes and once we were seated we waited a while for our drink order and apps. The staff was friendly (when we saw them) but overall I was a little disappointed.
You can't get any more top notch service than this ultra luxury establishment. They specialize in Wagyu (sp?) beef. Expect to pay $500+ for the pure bread. I (er, my host) paid $165 for some Japanese/Australian cross breed. Most enjoyable cut of cow I've ever had.
We've been eating here since the early 70's and it's still our favorite SF restaurant! The prime rib is fabulous; the salad and cream spinach make the meal complete. Very generous portions; a wonderful culinary experience!!
Found this by chance, did a search on my phone for steak houses near me.The food was amazing, the service was great. The next time we are in San Francisco we are definitely eating here again.
Amazing Prime Rib! Came here on a trip to SF with friends and it was delicious! I would recommending making reservations since it seems like this restaurant is always packed.
I visit this restaurant from time to time and the level of their service improves a lot. The staff are corteous and kind. I also love that the serving time is fast.
Best steak house in town if you want some aged steaks. Old school and friendly staff. You can park at the Hilton Hotel's parking garage and they do validate.
