As we expand these programs we will integrate 11 artist-teachers representing Root Division. Content, curriculum design and scheduling will be executed in collaboration with the administration, faculty and parents. These artists will teach a total of 132 hours a month in these schools. In addition Root Division seeks volunteers from the community to work alongside artists in schools.Root Division is an arts and arts education non-profit that promotes creative expression throughout the community. We are currently seeking applicants for our Resident Artist Studios Program based on 17th Street in the Mission. Artists receive studio space at below market rates and valuable professional & creative development opportunities in exchange for service in the organization. As part of the studio residency, artists volunteer 12 hours a month towards Root Division's mission and are able to get involved in the community in any or all of the following areas:- Organize opportunities for peer interaction and creative development for fellow artists in the Studios ProgramResidencies are offered for a 1-year commitment. Spaces can be shared by two artists, but both artists must submit applications and be accepted into the program. * ** * Application process includes submitting completed application form, images of artwork, resume, & artist statement. Applicants will be notified about possible follow-up interview with the Artist Selection Committee.Email or call for upcoming availability. ( Currently seeking artists with interest in teaching art to youth. Spanish-speaking artists are especially wanted! )ABOUT ROOT DIVISION:Root Division is an arts and arts education non-profit located in the Mission District of San Francisco. Root Division's mission is to improve appreciation and access to the visual arts by connecting personal inspiration and community participation. We provide subsidized studio space to working artists in exchange for their service in creating shared learning opportunities for the community. Artists develop creatively and professionally by teaching art to underserved youth, leading adult education classes, and producing exhibitions that showcase local emerging artwork.
