Overall
Horrible

We stopped in about 2 hours before a Giants game and the bar was semi-full, but none of the tables had been bused or cleaned. There was a sign when you walk in that said "order at the bar." There was one bartender or person working, but she quickly disappeared to somewhere. We sat and waited for 15 for our table to get bused and for the bartender or someone who worked there to show up. No one did so we took off. This place is a joke.

very unfriendly bouncers

stopped by before a giants game. i just got through reading the sign behind the bar telling the patrons how friendly the staff is and how it's all about the patron when a door guy comes up behing me and says, ""i'm gonna need your stool"". i had no idea the thug worked there and thought i was being mugged. he was trying (successfully) to be real intimidating. so i say,""what do you mean you need my seat?"" so he tells me he needs to take like he took everyone elses. apparently i was sitting in a 'no stool zone'. i then realized he works there. so i told this idiot that he should've told me he works there before demanding my stool. didn't go over well. so the rest of the time i was there, i observed him and the other gorilla at the door. two of some of the biggest jerks i've ever encountered. a real turn-off. probably won't go back. the bar staff in contrast was friendly.

very pretty and nice servers, great live bands!!

I go to Oneills all the time and the food is great, theyour arm off and beat staff is amazing. The bouncers look like theyd rip your arms off and beat you with them but they are some of the nicest blokes around. 3 Cheers to O'neills for the great improvments!!

Great Service and Atmosphere

I was visting San Francisco 6 months ago and wanted to grab a few beers and a game and stumbled across the best Irish Pub I've ever been in. Great crowd (meet my girlfriend there), great service (Eron helped me a ton with a surprise Valentine's Day gift), and great atmosphere. Everytime I go back I'll stop at O'Neill's. For those of you who are lucky enough to live in San Francisco you need to make the trip. It's well worth it.

Great place with or without baseball season

During Giants season the place was packed and so much fun. I visited it again once the season was over thinking it might not be as lively as before. To my surprise the place was packed! It's become a great neighborhood pub! The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the live bands are wonderful. I came in for pub quiz and had so much fun. Overall its a great place.

They serve a fantastic fish and chips, very large portions. try the kiddie Order for size.

It was my first visit to a Pub and I thought the experience was such a treat. the place had a very homy, earthy ,European appeal. I would say really authentic because It had all sorts of wall decor ,paraphernalia, Irish quotes and sayings on the walls and ceiling. It was fascinating to see and look at. i'd say the owners spent a whole lot of time and effort in the construction, because of the History and culture they invesed in the place.
I swear the food tastes extremely awsome. I love the real down to earth Dublin feel of the food served. They have a full Irish breakfast, which you just can not get anywhere in America..

Lunch for One

I came in by myself on a weekday for lunch. I walked in and there was about six people in the bar. Their menu consisted of pub grub like burgers, fish and chips, and shepards pie. The food came out quickly and I had a nice chat with the bartender, Kelly. I liked the breading that they used for the fish and chips, and their coleslaw was not runny or tasteless. My first experience was awesome and I hope that everyone else has a great time. They also have PUB QUIZ on Sunday nights.... and excellent addition to the neighborhood.

Night Life Finally

I have to tell you i have a Bouncer in the area a WHILE and finally a pub that is open until 2:00am, I found the doorstaff to be very professional and curtis! The bar staff is amazing, I have been hanging out since the new pub opened and have meet some kind people, on some occassions celebraties have popped in where they were treated just like an average joe. All I have to say is GO O'NEILLS you are doing just wonderfull in your new location!

Overpriced!!!

The most expensive Guinness I've ever had to pay for and the food sucked! Small portions and rude door staff; very rude. I've given the place two chances and I'm never going back.

I thought this was my neighborhood pub...

Beware of O'Neils trying to be a ""shi shi"" bar. I thought this was my neighborhood irish pub, but the ""bouncers"" treated me more like it was some hard core techno dance club in the tenderloin. They cater to the ""private"" parties on Thursday nights. So if you are not on the list, expect to be picked out of the crowd, and then kicked out! Yes, it WILL happen to you, even if you are a regular. Not a neighborhood pub, after all.

game days

Me and my buddies are always going to the giants games, and ever since O'neills opened up we have been going to the pub before the game to enjoy some good appetizers and burgers. We usually end up there after the game as well. The beer is less expensive than the million dollar beers at the games, so we have a couple rounds before we go to watch the game. Everyone there is friendly and when the giants win, we all enjoy celebrating with others. they also have t.v.s and music to satisfy everyones needs.

a great experience!!!!!!!!

I had a great time at this hot new irish pub. It has a really welcoming atmosphere. The entire staff is very friendly, and the drinks are very tasty. It is a good place to bring out your friends and enjoy some cocktails. They played live music this past weekend and eveyone was in good spirits. It was crowded but not too crowded. Overall my friends and I had a great time, and we will definately be going back for more!!!

Good Fun and Great Laughs

My husband and I often visit the San Mateo location on weekends. We decided that it was time to come up to the city, and what we saw was amazing. The establishment was BIGGER!!! We ended up spending the entire night! The bartenders were outgoing and funny. I encourage everyone to get an O'Neill's experience.

I love the beautiful hand painted drawings on the wall. I have not had a chance to visit Ireland, but I can almost guarantee that this pub is the closest thing to the Emeral Isle. I hope that everyone has a chance to experience this pub at least once. Clean atmosphere and a capable working staff. The food is unique and tasty.

a good place to meet people

This is a great place to have drinks and make friends. The food is delicious and the drinks are inexpensive. Not only is it a bar, but they also serve brunch. I had a great irish breakfast, one of the best I have ever had. The service was fast and friendly, and the prices inexpensive.
