What a disaster National/Enterprise/Alamo is at SFO
I arrived on a delayed flight, had rented with Enterprise this time and walked to the counter, it was 2 AM in the morning. I then followed the posted directions to go to the National desk.
I lined up at National, only to have the obnoxious fellow working the desk scream at everyone in line that Enterprise people were supposed to go to Alamo. I then walked (5 feet) to the Alamo line thinking that the hollering was unnecessary.
I stood in line at Alamo for 2+ hours while about 3 people got cars. The guy at the National counter had his feet up on a chair, and frequently sat and did nothing when no one was in his line, except to occasionally holler for any people that were Alamo to come on over to National…?!? He pulled 5+ people out from behind the line to leave Alamo and go to National, never helping anyone else that had been stuck there for hours.
When I finally got to the front of the line, the person couldn't find my profile and was trying to get me to re-insert all of my information despite the fact that I reserved through my profile on the site. Reservation was transferred to Alamo, then to National. There were about 5 cars on the Executive aisle, 90% of which were minivans.
I then returned the car a few days later thinking it was all over. Summarily got tough-guy email from Barry A Cusick, Admin notifying me that I never returned their car. (this 2 or 3 days after I returned it) and that I better contact them immediately. Notified Barry that their car was returned.
I never got a response, but about 24 hours later I got an e-receipt with a big gas charge, despite the fact that I filled up right by the airport. Sent picture of receipt for gas, never received response. In fact, I've never received communication of any type from them.
No apology, no refund for the gas, nothing. What a crazy dysfunctional office this is.
I always use National at SFO and a few other locations. They make it simple. First of all you have a written quote when you reserve so no surprises. The Executive selection always has great cars and I can switch up. Check out of the lot is super fast with the scanner. Staff have wonderful morale. I cannot believe it is the same ownership as Enterprise which I hate with a passion. National will be my provider of choice for a long long time. Way to go. Great system, great people, great management.
My visit to National was from SF airport. The team was professional and informative. I rented a Red Ford Mustang convertible. The car was well serviced and a pleasure to drive. The return experiance was easy and efficient. Even though I had to return it to a different place. Thank you
Several cars available to rent, found one that I liked. Car was in excellent condition and I had no problems with it. First time I rented at SFO, National should provide information on how to get on 101 and when returning, how to get to Rental Car Center when returning. Staff was very friendly when answering a couple of questions. Will continue to use National.
when I arrived there were no cars available and a line with over 20 people in it. Waited over 30 mins to get a car and did not get the executive elite member benefits of the choice of any car. Not to mention, and this happens a lot with National, the gas was not full, but I was expected to bring it back full.
