I purchased tickets in advance to attend the New Year?s Eve party 2012. I paid approximately $240 for three tickets. Upon arrival to Impala, we waited patiently in line for 30 minutes on an incline verses the flat sidewalk on Broadway. After a comprehensive search, we were granted admission. We were advised the VIP with the open bar was downstairs. This room, is 1/3 the size of the upstairs area and occupied with sofa, chairs, bar, and dance floor. There was 200+ customers to 3 Bartenders. The average wait time was 25 minutes for a drink and you couldn?t take it upstairs to the other dance floor. At 11:30, we moved to the smoking area, located outside in front of the club.
While, I was smoking my medicine (cannabis), I was observed by several SFO Police Officers. A customer from Impala, stumbled out the door and vomited into the street in front of the Police. He sat down on the sidewalk and his friends told the Police he was okay.
While this is going on, I didn?t know I was being watched by Impala?s Bounces. I had no clue they coming up with a plan to STEAL my medicine. The guy that was just vomiting and guests, were readmitted before my party WITHOUT being searched. The mix female bouncer who was searching purses, asked my wife, ?Did you save one for me??, after searching her purse twice. Then, searched her girlfriend?s purse breaking her cigarettes. My back is to the club and I?m facing the street. At this time, the Mexican American, 6ft3in with black hair is patting me down. With a delay to my right pans pocket where my keys are located. Then, I turn around and he asked me about something in my top suit coat pocket. I looked at the doorway and my party was gone. I told him, ?My cigar box.?. He said, ?He needed to see it.?. I pulled it out. He said ?Open it.?. He took it out of my hand passed it to the African American man 5ft5in. He said,? I cant have it in there.? and put it into his pocket. I told him he couldn?t take my medicine and he turn his back. I went into the club and got my guest. I was back outside in less than one minute. I asked the African American bouncer for my cigar box and told him I was leaving. He ignored me. I asked for his name and he ignored me. I asked to speak to a Manager. He ignored me. When, my wife wanted to re-enter the club he told her No. I told him she has to claim her coat. While she was inside, I pleaded my case with another bouncer, Samoan 5ft7in, He stated, He should give that back to you, but he walks into the club only after speaking to the African American bouncer who had my cigar box. Which contained approximately $200 of pre-rolled cannabis cigars.
To have my medicine stole, by the bouncers who are paid to protect the patrons, is disgusting. I put nothing past this establishment. Example: Theft. I was never given the option to leave, with my property.

This place used to be a great club to go to and the food was really good too... after they went through a few managers the place went down hill FAST AND HARD!!! They don't serve any food anymore, the staff is rude, the drinks are watered down, I asked for a Grey Goose Tonic, saw her poor Grey Goose but sure did not taste like Grey Goose. The door guys pat you down when you go in (not a good sign) and there was still a shooting in the club not too long ago... the crowd is all from east Oakland or at least it seems man what a way to ruin a nice place... I will never go back there again!!!!!!!!

I love this place! It has such an inviting atmosphere. It is a good-looking crowd and one of the best I've seen in the area. The rustic look it has is so cool. Not to mention the staff is amazing! They have really good looking bartenders too! I could go there all weekend and have a great time. Each night is different but never loses its inviting feel!
I can't wait to go back.... Good speciality drinks too! :)

I have been to Impala before and it's generally a good time but they really take care of you for VIP services. The event coordinator is very helpful and will make sure you have a great time. I have ordered bottle service a dozen times all over the city and Impala offered the best service and communication by far. An absolute recommend!!!!

They charged a $10 Cover charge, and then the downstairs was closed off for a private party, and thats the only area for dancing! I basically paid money to sit in a restaurant. When we left (quickly) I tried to warn the people in line that the downstairs was closed off and the bouncer tried to get all hyphy on me. weaksauce.

I chose 1 star, but only because I had to in order to submit my review. This place isn't even deserving of one star. I will never go again and plan to spread the word to everyone possible to never go here. The staff is rude. The description of ""no cover"" is incorrect. Try $20. Very expensive drinks, which if they were strong great, but not the case. The staff, managers included, are rude and on power trips. At the end of the night in the time to go process they broke a glass in my friend's hand (she's a small size 2 girl) and pushed us out the door (bleeding hand and all). They are all about a quick buck and the customer is of no consequence to them.

we came here for cocktails, and ended up having dinner to avoid paying cover charge. we expected cheezy mexican food. we were all wowed by both the service and the food! the chef jamal came to the table and told us about the food! the manager was walking around checking on everybody and after dinner he walked us into the vip room! we ended up staying there untill the lights came on! the music was amazing on both floors!
great place whether you are looking for a great meal or a killer party!

I visited this place w/ high hopes and was greatly disappointed. The staff is rude and snobby; looks only get you so far. The food isn't bad, but the place is so pretentious and uninviting that the food doesn't matter. The manager, Tommy, was impatient w/ us and the rest of the staff was unfriendly. Don't waste your time here. Please.

If your on broadway and just want an overpriced small pour cocktail then the decor here is cool. The VIP Hostess is AWESOME! However, that was not enough to save this venue for me. Food is standard quality but way too overpriced! $23 for 6 grilled shrimp on skewars! Do not eat dinner here! And if you try to have dinner late, the manager will come kick you out of your table as soon as you finish to make room for the VIP tables for the night.
