Thorough eye exam

Dr. Kurtbay is the best optometrist I have ever gone to, in a lifetime of going to eye doctors. Every time I have gone there (past 5 years), he has operated the equipment himself - though I understand that sometimes an assistant will do some of the tests for him (like the one where you press a button every time you see a light -- to test your peripheral vision). He also offers a retina scan so you do not have to have your eyes dilated any more. This keeps a record of your retina on the computer -- then when you go back year after year he compares this year's scan to the last year's scan to check for any changes. In this way, any problems (like macular degeneration or other eye diseases) can be caught early on.

Dr. Kurtbay has always taken the time to make my prescription was right; when I could not decide whether I saw better with one prescription level or another, I was allowed to take tester contacts with me so I could try them out for 2 weeks you before I decided. In sum, I highly recommend Dr. Kurtbay.

Both times he got my perscription wrong

I have gone to Kurtbay twice and both time he gave me contacts that were too strong. I told him that I couldn't see clearly, but he didn't mind. I've been getting bad headaches because of it. I explained my sensitive eyes to him and he prescribed me lenses to keep in for a month at a time and now i am having more problems than ever. I'll go again to get new contacts.

He's really nice and he does have up to date equipment but he is not the one using it. You'll go in and an assistent will take all of the tests for you. Shes not a doctor so you wonder what's really going on.

He's a nice guy, but long winded so expect to wait a while. I waited nearly an hour last time I went and had to finish my checkup on another day because while he shuffles you off to his assistent, another patient gets a checkup which means you have to wait for their appointment to end to finsih what you started.

Very thorough exam

They have the most up to date equipment to cover everything regarding your eyes. The selection of glasses is great and the people are really nice. I have been going to them for many years. Even through I live in Oakland now I still visit Kurtbay regularly.

Rewarding Eye Experience

I enjoyed this experience from beginning to end. Top of the line equipment. Generously explained procedures and took the time to answer my personal questions as well. Couldn't ask for anything more. Thanks again Dr. Kurtbay
