Definitely the world's rudest employees and by far the world's worst food which is grudgingly served by surly employees who obviously don't want any customers ever!

Don't support this nasty corporate chain. the greed is as thick as the smell of expired ingredients.. the food at this place is terrible, a horrible odor is constant - it's a loud slopfest.

Authentic as it is... Italian food.

I love their food because their plates are huge and it's filling. I have my twenty third birthday here and my family, and friends like the place. The food are very tasty, flavorful, and of course filling. It is a great place to eat with friends and family, can even throw a birthday party there; that's what I did.The staff member are friendly, but the services are quite slow. It's worth waiting for the food, even when it's a little slow.

It's Loud in there, but dependable

We've been here several times both for family dining and for big office parties and birthdays etc. It does get pretty loud in the rooms. I'm not sure if it's the staff yelling or the guests or just the acoustics causing multiple echos off the walls, but whatever, it is part of the culture of Buca di Beppo.
Go with a large group and share, that's the best way. My favorite is the 5 cheese pizza with the caramelized onions. They took it off the menu last year but the secret is that they will still make it for you.
Also like the chicken breasts, the large salads and the lasagna.
Lemonade is pretty good and comes with refills

Wondeful staff, Delicious food

We had a Birthday Party June 3rd, 2006 also the night the Bay Bridge decided to close down the bottom protion!!! It caused many guests to flake out...But the wonderful staff accommodated us quickly and gracefully as the head count kept changing. They were so sweet and efficient. We ordered the salad, calamari appetizer, fettucini alfredo, a pizza and ravioli for 10 people. We were in heaven! Everything was good. Very impressed. We still had food left over too. FUN!

A little overrated

reading the reviews saying how this place is always crowded, I made reservations online a few days prior and so we were seated promply when we got there. the place has a nice homey feel to it, but people talk really loud. we had a small quatro al forno, side fettucine alfredo, and mozzarella garlic bread, the bill came to about 30$, no other drinks. the service was not the best, we had to ask for more water and the waiter did not come to check up on us a lot. worst of all, our garlic bread came AFTER our entrees came. and they did not even bring us the regular bread while we waited for our food (about half an hour)! and dont get the garlic bread unless you like huge pieces of raw garlic over the bread.

I haven't dined in the Buca restaurant in a few years, but recently ordered the Spicy Arrabbiata Pizza to go. It is HUGE first of all - but also really really good. So much better than I thought. Huge chunks of spicy sausage, nice crisp strips of pepperoni - light and crispy crust.... EXCELLENT for the price.

Good for friends or families gathering

It's a fun place for big group of people to shout and laugh loud in. The plate is huge and you can all share within the group. The bartender is funny and he told jokes while I was waiting, that's somthing different. If you plan to have birthday party here, the staff will sing the song for you, too!

My Buca experience

This place is like chucky cheese for adults. We had a bachelor party there and our waitress, ended up sitting on my boy's lap and feeding him tiramisu while the rest of the flamboyant staff circled us- blowing bubbles and yelling comments of questionable nature. We then ended up standing on the table to cheers the whole room. If you want a nice quiet dinner and dull servers beholden to your needs, stay away. If you want to be as loud and drunk as you like and aren't easily offended then this is a good place. Peace.

Good festive Italian

Go to this place for a fun relaxed atmosphere and huge dishes. The food isn't outstanding, but it is plentiful. Thin crust pizzas, huge plates of pasta. You can't go wrong with the huge desserts as well - tiramisu was pretty good.

Buca is wonderful!

It's not fancy, but it's hearty, filling, and quite tasty. The meat sauce is quite good, and the pizzas have a wonderfully thin crust, making them a little lighter than the average pizza chain. It's definitely comfort food, and LOTS of it. Make sure you bring reinforcements, as two small entrees and a salad serve about 4-5 very hungry people! For dessert, (if you have any room left), try the tiramisu or the spumoni ice cream.

Good place for lunchtime indulgence

Had a coworker's birthday lunch at BDB recently and must say that the value can't be beat. The food's mediocre at best on most dishes (with the exception of the chicken parmesan and the caprese salad as well as the salad w/pancetta and gorgonzola) but the prices are great, the food is really tasty for what it is, and the atmosphere is a lot of fun for a big group of people who wouldn't typically choose to spend time together. The waitstaff is really nice and accomodating and the lunch crowd is pretty sparse. Definitely worth a try for large groups, but I wouldn't take a date there.

Quantity, Not Quality

Yes Buca di Beppo gives you giant portions for all to share. Unfortunately the food is not the greatest. Based solely on the quality of the food I would not recommend this restaurant. However, it is a great place to dine with a large group (because of the previously mentioned giant portions). It has a fun atmosphere and a nice waitstaff. But if you're looking for good Italian food, eat elsewhere.

incredible experience

My son and his girlfriend took us to this place while we were visiting them in San Francisco and we had a party of 6 so we ordered a wide variety of food and each item was served at the perfect time and in spite of the place being totally crazy with busy-ness, we were never without attention from our servers. It was a wonderful experience that made our trip to the city unforgettable. Thank you so much. Buca di Beppo! We look forward to coming back!

Buca Delivers

We used Buca Di Beppo to deliver our food through the Waiters on Wheels service. Wow the larger portions were perfect for our All-star baseball game party at our house. I highly recommend you use this service with Buca di Beppo to feed the larger parties at your house.

Plenty of food to eat

Great for family/ group dining. The more people you come with, the more money you save. Most food comes in two sizes: Small or large. Small feeds 2-3 people. Large feeds 4-6 people. Their corn meal crusted pizzas is fabolous. Pasta dishes are delightful. The house specials are worth to try. Their ""7 lbs of love"" (chicked dish) is an amusing sight for eyes and enough to feed everybody in the group. Go on, get loud and don't forget to save room for Tiramisu.

Good compromise

A lot of food, not as bad as some other reviews say. It is great for groups, when you are 10 and want to taste different dishes, it is a good compromise for pretty cheap!

This is an example of how italian food can turn into a big pile of mush. The food is terrible and lots of it. If you want real italian food stay away from this place. You can feed a lot of hungry people with the amount of food that is wasted here.

If you dont go for taste ...

I've heard some people mentioned about this place. So we went there, made reservation 2 weeks prior. If your party aren't all there, you can't be seated & have to wait for your turn.

Portion size is worth the money. But how it taste.... that's a different story. The food taste just ok. The salad came drenched in dressing. Not too appetizing.

Great place to have a big crowd & big party though. You can be as noisy as you can be.

Just ok

The best thing we had was the garlic bread. the other dishes were huge but taste was mediocre. I don't eat meat, but friends ordered the meatballs and they said it wasn't that great. I've had better fried calamari appetizers. It wasn't bad, but just ok. What would have made it better was if it came to the table hot. We were seated promptly and service was good, but that's also because it wasn't so crowded on a Monday, when our group went.
