I have not found a better stylist in 15 years. I started having Shaun Farmer cut my hair about 8 years ago. Since then he has been cutting all my friends hair. He is great at make over?s, new cuts, and haircuts that are cutting edge. I have really curly out of control hair. He know just how to texture my hair to get it to lay just right. When it comes to color, he does a fantastic job. Regardless of what color you want or the amount of colors (I have had as many as five) he does a fabulous job! I flew from Seattle to San Francisco for this hair cut because he moved. I will return in March for another hair cut because it is definitely worth the flight!
When I came to work Monday morning everyone asked me who cut hair. My answer is always the same.. Shaun did! and he is truly fabulous!

After years of disappointing colorists who were unable to match a shade of blonde to my olive skin and stylists who cut a half a foot of chunky layers off my hair farm, i was finally referred to Lauren by a friend. She is a BLONDE WIZARD! And, she gives me a fantastic cut every time as well. Not an over the top glamorous one (because that's just not me), but naturally beautiful because she knows i can't be hassled with product and blow-drying. Last time i went in, she said she was moving to a salon called Head and Soul. I will follow her wherever her career takes her. Thanks Lauren! You're my saving grace!

Ever since my aunt decided to pop out babies and stop doing hair I've been on a never-ending search for the right hair stylist. It's been about 4 years and I have been to a different stylist every time. They've ranged from horrible to mediocre with hairstyles ranging from bowl cut to dog show hair. The last, last lady I went to gave me the ugliest, unflattering, and BLUNT layers I have ever seen. I was scared that my hair was beyond repair, (I wanted to fix it, but somehow keep the length) but heard many good things about Amber at Bladerunners, soo I decided to schedule an appointment. I don't know how she did it, but not only did she fix my hair, I actually ended up loving the cut! I don't even remember the last time I loved my hair after an appointment. I live in Los Angeles now, but I will forever be faithful to Amber until she decides to start popping out babies.

After ten years or not having a hair cut, my best friend finally talked me into going ot her stylist Tony at Bladerunners. It took some convincing being as how they charge $70 for a haircut and I'd never paid more than $15. I've been going there for the past year ever since. Tony is fantastic, I absolutely love my hair cut, he's pleasant, and I'm always a very satisfied customer.
Most importantly though, and I was NOT expecting this when I first went, when Joseph aka Joe, shampoo'd my hair, he gave me the most amazing head massage ever. That alone made it worth the trip out to the city (I live on the peninsula) and worth the $70. Joe is amazing, he also styles and blowdries my hair out after every cut, or you can request him specifially just to blowdry your hair or do your color. Needless to say, he is my regular person now as he is great! He always takes his time and makes my hair look fabulous. I don't even have to specify what I want because I know that whatever he does I will love. If you're looking for a good hair cut, go see Tony, and if you just want a RED HOT style for a night on the town, along w/ the most awesome head massage EVER, see Joe. You WON'T be disappointed. Bladerunners Salon ROCKS!

Hey i am not fron sanfrancisco but love everything about it..i let my hair grow longer than i expected w/hopes of finding a great stylists, w/out all the drama...i walked in and Jenni kim was and is my stylist for as long as she is available when i am out ther..she looked at me knew what i wantd with just a few words, gave her an idea of what i wouldn't want to be obvious which was my round face, she cleaned my hair up so well, that it's grown beautilfully and you can see more of her work in the wind. no one ever notices my face and only ask of my hair and how i style it, and man jen if your reading this...i don't brush my hair...if u remember i was like wash and go. and it is great hair, short , classy, trendy, modern and professional all inone. most of all wash and were...is sleep hair you will see..... thank you very much and i hope to get a nother hair appt in october. seee you soon, .....aloha from Keely

I get my hair done by Lauren and I totally trust her. For the first time in my life I can relax and not ""back seat drive"" my stylist the way usually have to. I am used to keeping a vigilant eye on the mirror while getting my hair cut (I have very wavy hair prone to getting HUGE if not cut right... it's dangerous) and now I just let her do her thing and I'm always happy with the result.

I usually get my hair done by my personal hair stylist, but she moved to new york. I went to this salon dec of 2005 and will never go back. she recommended me to go to bladerunners and I saw all the reviews and even have a few girlfriends that said it was a good salon. Im not sure if it was just the stylist that was inexperienced.. I ran into a friend the other day that also had a bad experience with this hair salon and this is my reason for posting this review!! i think people should do research before trusting your hair with just anyone. when i went, i left the salon MAD as can be. I wanted to kick the little girl that did my hair. I was literally left butchered as if i got my hair stuck in a lawn mower. Be sure you know who your going to see before you go get your cut done. Aside from my horrible haircut, the hair stylist swore she knew exactly what she was doing-- only because she knew my hair was horrid-- so she kept trying her best to style my ragged hair.. Dont go to amber.

i have been going to blade runners since 2003 and wouldn't change for the world. i work in the salon/spa environment and receive compliments on my color and cut daily! i never hesitate to recommend this gem! recently my stylist rebeccah moved down south, but she made sure to let me know about how great stephanie is. i was hesitant at first and actually sent my boyfriend in as a test monkey and she totally impressed me - took time to talk to him about what look he wanted to achieve, what was realistic, and she made sure to pull some photos so he could get a visual. needless to say, he's never looked better :) it's worth the $.

i have been going to jenny at bladerunners for the past couple of years and i trust no one else with my hair(she even came to my wedding and gave me a stunning updo). everyone who works there is really sweet and attentive(with the exception of a couple of receptionists). to be perfectly honest the first time i went there i was really nervous and felt a bit out of place (they are all super funky and covered in tattoos) considering i'm fairly conservative but i soon came to realize that they are all really down to earth and super nice! (lauren and stephanie have done my hair before too and they are really great as well) also, since the salon is in the haight its probably good to give yourself at least an hour to park or do yourself a favor and take a cab.

I just came back from an appointment with Emily, and I love my hair! A friend recommended her to me, and her reviews on citysearch are 100% accurate. She is very nice and spends time talking to you about what YOU want, as opposed to so many who just assume they know. I was her last appointment on a Saturday afternoon, but she took more time than any other stylist I've had to get my cut exactly the way I wanted it, and she made sure to ask my opinion as she went along. She's so nice and friendly but also doesn't need to have a forced conversation during. Overall a great experience - and the head massage during the shampoo was so relaxing!

blade runners is awesome! I just moved here and was really nervous about going someplace new, but after a couple reccomendations I tried Blade Runners. I wasn't sure at first since everyone seemed like a typical ""cool kid hipster"" but everyone was super nice to me! I got an amazing head massage at the shampoo bowl and my stylist did exactly what I asked for. I was surprised to see negative reviews on here, my only advice would be that just like anywhere else, make sure to be specific and you will get what you ask for. If you're not sure what you want they are all really creative and talented and have lots of hair books to look at. They even made my super damaged hair feel soft again! Magical! I would recommend this place to anyone

I am completely neurotic about my hair, and trust very few people with it. If I get bad haircuts, I freak out and get depressed. After a number of those kinds of experiences, and about 2 1/2 years without a haircut, I ventured over to Blade Runners about a year and a half ago. I have seen three people there (two of whom have moved), and each time been happier and more trusting than before. Most recently, I followed the recommendations of several others on Citysearch and made an appointment with Emily. This was the first time I didn't bring a photo, or go with even a clear idea of the exact cut I wanted. I just told her the things I like and don't like in haircuts, and she completely understood and did an amazing, creative job. I also have to add that I am a fairly difficult client, in the sense that I can't make up my mind about anything and usually change my mind once something is done. She not only put up with it, but she listened to what I was saying and made all the little changes and she didn't seem bothered by me at all. I will definately be going back to her.

I came in for a re-cut after being devastatingly butchered elsewhere. I had the great fortune of immediately getting an appointment with Emily, who not only saved my haircut, but gave me one that got multitudes of compliments, and which I have subsequently kept. She laughs when I tell her she's a genius, but seriously, SHE'S A GENIUS!

I have gone to Blade Runners for several years. Staff is friendly, not snobby. They give awesome cutting edge cuts...but just be sure you get the right person. I went one year ago and have not been back because this new girl did not even listen to what i wanted and she BUTCHERED my hair....gave me one inch bangs and a chin length bob, that just made my round face look like a bloated cow UDDER.....sick. so I didnt even get a haircut for a year cause I was so scarred. I dont know if she is still there, but she definitely does not fit in with the rest of the staff....who are skilled and open and listen. get a consultation first. they really care.

I loved Amber! She listened attentively while I explained to her what I wanted to do with my highlights and gave me exactly what I wanted... and I am VERY PICKY! She also spent a good amount of time styling it at the end. She is sweet, attentive, and knows what she's doing. I would definitely go see Amber again.
