WOW! My new fiance and I (we had got engaged that day) went here to celebrate on the evening of our engagement. We each had a 5 course meal, in total 10 different dishes. The service was absolutely amazing and the food was even better. We both left feeling full, but not too full, but completely satisfied. We had: ahi tuna appetizer, roast maine lobster, herb crusted lamb, filet of beef, seared sea bass, cheese plate, pumpkin soup, pear tart tartini, bananas flambe, and chocolate souffle. We also got 2 glasses of champagne. Since we were also celebrating his birthday, they gave us a little lemon mousse cake with a candle and sent us home with a pumpkin bread wrapped up to-go. Absolutely a must do if you're in SF. Worth all the money we paid. Only complaint is that you sit fairly close to other tables, so you don't really have much privacy.
This is another must-visit San Francisco establishment that I have been frequenting ever since it opened in the 90s. I noticed that some folks have used the phrase, "tourist trap." While I agree that tourists do frequent this spot, I must point out that this is certainly no "trap." And as someone who loves and is proud of San Francisco, I actually INVITE tourists to visit Beach Chalet, so that I can share with them one of my favorite spots in the City.Beach Chalet is also a microbrewery restaurant that offers top notch craft beers. Beach Chalet upstairs; Park Chalet downstairs - can't go wrong with either - both offer excellent libations, and also live entertainment on most nights.Oh, and if you have never been, set aside 5-10 minutes to browse the murals and museum-artifacts and the scale model of Golden Gate Park.
THE EATS:Spanish Chorizo -- A dish that came with a full, juicy, chorizo link instead of the normally smaller ground up pieces you find in a chorizo dish. Accompanied by a handful of perfectly seasoned potatoes and two even more perfectly done poached eggs. Super thin pieces of cheese were grated over the dish as a finishing touch. This dish definitely did not disappoint. If you're a fan of eggs + sausage, don't hesitate on this one! Soft-Scrambled eggs -- Super simple and classic, yet somehow they've made this a fancy $$$-worthy dish. The eggs are extremely yolk-y (very yellow, very creamy) and true to its name (very soft.) Carefully poured onto a large piece of crispy grilled toast that is topped by a couple slices of tasso ham and spinach, this dish was not only beautiful to look at, but also mouth-watering good.
We randomly picked this place while in SF and it was a great decision. It was packed and about a 45 minute wait but we grabbed a table at the bar right away. The sourdough chowder bowl was fantastic!! We also got the fish tacos but it wasn't worth the $18. They screwed up the taco order, then forgot to put it on the bill, and then added it but added the wrong amount of tacos and in the end they just comped us the tacos. The staff was super friendly and patient. Love seeing the bread being made right there and how they carry it around the ceiling in the baskets.
We hired Paella Time to cater my husband's 50th birthday. Ralph is absolutely wonderful, and a delight to work with. He took care of everything down to the smallest detail providing all of the glassware, plates, silverware. I was also able to book through him a flamenco guitarist and singer. Such much fun. The sangria, tapas, and paella was superb! Thank you Ralph and Paella Time crew for making my husband's birthday a truly memorable occasion.
Amazing, delicious, fantastic, brilliant, awesome... these are some of the words used to describe our company holiday party. We were looking for something different and fun, and Paella Time did not disappoint. The process was a breeze, and our party was one of the best we've ever done. They supplied everything we needed, and cleaned everything before they left. Incredible tapas and paella. 5+++ stars!!! Thanks Chef Gerry and crew!
We had the Mac and cheese to start which was delicious. The complimentary cornbread was fresh from the oven in its own bread pan. The fried chicken was juicy and had a spicy sauce. Which was good, just be aware that the sauce is spicy (might want it on the side). We got the ice cream sandwich for dessert which was pretty frozen. Needed to thaw for a few minutes, but tasty. The drinks were great and has a sizable bar.
Hired Paella Time to cater our annual wine party, and from the countless compliments we've received this is one of the best we've had, and we're already considering this for another future event. Chef Anthony was friendly and engaging explaining the process, and answering questions along the way. All of the drinks and food was as good as promised. Thank you Chef Ralph, Chef Anthony, and Paella Time team!
Just used Paella Time to cater my Mom's 60th birthday. Everything was fantastic. They came early, set up, helped me with drinks and food that I was providing, and prepared AMAZING paella in a big paella pan. It was so much fun, and my mom and guests really enjoyed it. At the end, they packed everything up like they were never there. Great experience. Super easy. Thanks for a wonderful time.
Bowls are just $6.95! Top 5 cheap eats during lunch in the financial district part of town. I recommend coming in before 11:45am or after 1pm because the lines can get long. Also standing around looking at a machine to deliver you food is quite awkward. fyi - vegetarian & vegan friendly. No meat. Only quinoa and all that good stuff that the internet tells you to eat to feel good.
