My husband was taking care of our spa for years, but it become more of a hassle than it's worth to maintain on our own. It was neglected for a few months and became grimy and nasty. I contacted Devin and he responded to me promptly and was able to come over that same week to take a look at the spa. He was friendly, professional, and offered a very flexible and affordable maintenance plan. After just one treatment my spa was looking like new and now my grandson has a spa to splash in again! Thanks, Devin!
Happen to stumble on this, and have been using Biogurd chems for 12 years and find them to be superior. Called the factory a few times for tech info…

I was charged $600 for a circuit board that was $202 with American Pool Service. There was NO used part or new box for the part indicating the work had been done. They were asking for $1500 for a used heater and labor while Oceanside Pool required $600 for the same BTU's. with labor. Many missed and delayed by 8 hour appointments. Sloppy and never cleaned up the sediment off by deck, driveway, and bar area.Sediment poured down a slow drain does not help. You had to sweep it up. I spent more time cleaning than they did in labor. There were two additional leaks from the job. I was charged $100 for a gasket with $50 for labor but they fixed the second leak without charging me.
We recently had a new pool vinyl liner installed by ABCO (Nick Penna). ABCO did an excellent replacement. Went the extra mile by providing a video of the liner maintenance with valuable tips to extend it's life. Our expectations were exceeded. A job well done.
I inherited a pool man when I bought my house, and we did not get along!! Multiple back and forths with him and I was DONE!! Didn't want to deal with him or any pool man- I thought I could service my pool myself LOL that was a mistake and it turned green within a month- i looked on craigslist and found A BUNCH of pool companys, Blue River was one of them - I called a few of them but Blue River was the only one that was able to come out and look at my pool early the next day- he gave me a good price but I still wanted to get some more prices- my dad always taught me never to take the first price, no matter how good it is- turned out though, not only did he give me the best price he didn't try to sell me crap that I didn't need (which some of the other ones did!!! GRR!!!) After the initial clean up I decided to keep him on and he gave me a reasonable price for weekly service.....Since then Brennen has always been upfront and honest with me and my pool is clean NOT green yay!!! :)
ABCO truly is “A Better COmpany”When my pool suddenly started leaking I tried for months to get the previous installer and then anyone else to come give me advice and/or an estimate. Then all at once three vendors all responded on the same day. I had all three look and offer estimates. Nick Penna at ABCO was the only one who said, “You have a leak and if I can find it you may not need a new liner for another year, maybe two.” He found a leak and patched it. When I offered to pay, he said to wait to ensure that was the problem. If that fixed the issue then send him a check for just the repair. Well, it fixed most of the leakage, but the bottom of the pool liner was brittle and still leaked some in other places. Because of his approach and that he was ~ $1,000 less than the most expensive bid (though a few hundred more than the lowest bid), I called Nick back to replace the liner. The previous repair cost was nullified; I was not charged since it did not solve the issue.Nick had some beautiful colors and borders to select from and offered his opinion on which would hold up best for our situation. Since his original estimate had stated that ANY liner we chose was all the same price, there was no concern about pushing one color/thickness over another for profit margin. Nick wrote me a contract that estimated 3 to 4 1/2 weeks until the job was complete. He also left information and a grid layout flyer on pool maintenance using PoolRX and granular chlorine to extend liner life. Nick spent SEVERAL hours taking detailed measurements, and later he called, said he had the liner and could he come and install it the next day. It was TWO weeks from the day he wrote the contract until he was installing the new (Gorgeous) liner. The installation is much better than the previous 2 liners and as good (maybe even better) as the original installation. His work included repairs to the provicil, step and padding, and removal of roots. After several frustrating days with my pool service I decided to resume maintenance myself. Nick came by to give me a 2-3 hour detailed “Pool School.” Beforehand Nick looked over the pool pump and found a small leak, which he insisted on fixing, no additional charge; he wanted a satisfied customer whose equipment was working up to its’ best before he left. The leak was only ~ 1 - 2 ml/minute. After the repair he said we would check it after Pool School. He looked over all of my pool maintenance tools and offered tips on maintaining and using them for best efforts, and how to prevent inadvertent damage to the liner. He looked over the chemicals and made recommendations on amounts to use, frequency and type of testing. He talked about how liners get damaged and stretched, the dangers of letting level get too low OR too high. After the education session he checked the leak on the pump, and it was still leaking, so Nick took off the previous rubber patch and used an epoxy patch instead. Excellent, excellent business practices. I am so impressed and happy that we went with ABCO/Nick.As a side note, when I had gone to purchase my pool chemicals before “Pool School” the store owner had one of Nick’s flyers, was familiar with it and could tell me 3 or 4 other customers who had their liners replaced by Nick, all of whom were satisfied. I know that I certainly am.Wayne Lyke, Oceanside CA
If you are looking for a reliable, friendly and quality pool service with reasonable prices, look no further! California Pool Care knows their stuff. We have about a 20,000 gallon swimming pool and they always do a great job keeping it clean and informing us on any repairs that need to be done, before they charge a thing. Our last pool service would let stuff break and we would have to find out on our own and he couldn't even figure out how to fix it and we would get unwanted charges. So great service equals great maintenance, repair and communication!
This young man does a great job. He always keeps my pool clean. We have been with California Pool Care for about a year now and have not had any issues with our service. He is friendly and highly competent. Needless to say he knows his stuff and I would recommend him to anyone looking for pool or spa service!
California Pool Care has really impressed me. Layne, the owner, seems to always go the extra mile and know just what my pool needs. It has been hit or miss when when I was trying to find someone who could take care of our pool and also troubleshoot the problems with our filtration system. It seems like we were just having a bad run until we found California Pool Care. My pool now is operating as it should and we can't wait for summer! Thank you Layne for all your hard work!
I refer California Pool Care to all my neighbors! They do such a great job. They are honest and reliable.
