I work at a VERY exclusive private jet company that charters jet the size of Gulfstreams v (G 5's) to citations 1, 2, and 3's. We have very wealthy people renting out and chartering these jets and excpect for everyting to be on point, pressed and sharp looking, In these Aircrafts are bed linens table clothes and assortment of linens, down comforters, pillow cases, silk napkins, blankets as well as pilot uniforms and suits and passengers laundry. The linens have tremendous amount of spots from food stains to wine spills to just everyday people mess. We needed to find a good and fast dry cleaners that would be able to deliver if we were unable to pick up, so I was referd to New Life Laundry and Dry Cleaners in north park. I called the owner Tom to see if he was able to dryclean and launder all of the items have them Cleaned, spotted, pressed and ready in 2 days for an outgoing flight for one of our VIP's. I gave him the list of items he gave me a quote and a discount for being a first time client and said he could have it done the next day which I was pretty impressed with! i dropped the items off on a tuesday morning and picked them up on a wednesday afternoon, all of the items we ready pressed neatly and hungup ready to go. When the client returned two weeks later, they made a point to tell us how impressed they were with the way everything was soo nicely pressed and how New Life got all the spots out of the silk napkins and the comforters. They wanted to make sure in the future we took all of their drycleaning their before every trip! So now they do all of our company's Drycleaning and laundering for all of the flights, events and pilots uniforms and suits. I myself am very impressed and very picky when it comes to Drycleaning. My father had owned his own Drycleaners for 30 years before he had to sell the plant and retire. So I know what a good Drycleaner is! New Life was fast, very polite and always put the customer first. Everyone is going to have different experiences with different places. But Ive refered all my clients and friends and family there and not once have I gotten negative feed back! There is also a 24hr drop box!
Hello, I've been afraid of the Dentist my entire life due to bad experiences as a child and adult until now. This is a brand new office with a brand new philosophy. They're painless and on time! I have a terrible mouth and needed a root canal due to a severe infection. First of all let me say this office is gorgeous! It is a luxury office tucked away in the Balboa Office Building. This suite alone probably raised the value of the entire building!! When I first got there the staff offered me a variety of tea and snacks. They were genuinly warm and caring. After filling out the standard paper work which was actually kind of cool because I filled everything out on an ipad, the Doctor, Fred Harandi, saw me immediatley and addressed all my concerns. I told him I was scared to death of Dentistry and very sensitive and in a lot of pain and he assured me it would be pain free. He is a really likeable guy but I was apprehensive at this point. He gave me the option of taking laughing gas so I chose that option and it made the entire experience cool believe it or not! The room is painted sky blue so I literally felt like I was in the clouds during the procedure and it was pain free after all! This dentist must have skills others don't because I seriously didn't feel a thing. Even the injection was completely pain free because he uses a special machine where you don't feel a thing! I chose to write this review directly after my appointment because this visit made my day. If you hate seeing the dentist or are afraid of the damage it will do to your wallet, go see Fred and his staff right away! Sincerely, Tony M.
Health Savings Associates really impressed me. I grew up here in San Diego, moved to Hawaii and have now moved back. I was thankful that a friend referred me to Health Savings because after living in a place where health insurance isn't an *issue* I didn't know where to start. The broker I spoke with was very honest. She explained to me the pros and cons of group and individual insurance (we have a small business with no employees) and we finally decided to apply for insurance individually, because we're healthy and it would be much less costly. Her honesty really put me at ease and let me know that she was focused on my well-being, not my wallet. My broker ran multiple quotes which she emailed me, and even came to our house to go over all of our options and thoroughly explained each plan: why one plan would cost more than the other, the difference between a deductible and an out of pocket maximum- the whole 9 yards. She even did a quick *exposure analysis* for us to help us make a final decision. After about 2 hours of learning how my insurance works (interesting stuff, to me at least), I was confident in my decision and happy with the coverage I was purchasing for myself and my family. My broker even helped me realize that I didn't need insurance so immediately, because (I had no idea) my former emloyer's benefits wouldnt end until the end of this month. I would absolutely recommend Health Savings Associates. They're people looking out for people- doesn't get much better than that.
What started as a dare from his twin sister (to carve an egg shell) has now become an identity. The Eggman, Frank Casciani, wants your eggs - unfertilized and sterile, from finches to ostriches (ladies you can keep your ovaries). That makes him different than most people. We crack them and toss the shells aside for the omelet we can create; Frank Casciani turns them into beautiful pieces of kaleidoscopic art that have garnered him International fame. His studio in Balboa Park's Spanish Village is shared by several other egg artists and jewelers, although he is one of only three, that he knows who make kalidescopes with the shells. The studio is jam packed with beautiful eggs that are carved, painted, bejeweled (Swarovski crystals only). A single painted Egg can take up to 10 weeks to build, and have as much as many as 14 layers of paint. Casciani use automobile paints and glitters in his process. The eggs themselves come from various sources and donors. Your normal super market extra large eggs, however, will be politely declined. The Finch eggs come from a 4-year-old boy whose family raises Finches. He brings them in regularly on a large flat egg carton and earns a buck a piece for them. To be honest, I never thought a shell could look so good and that they could be decorated with more than just food coloring and vinegar. The art is indeed inspiring and beautiful. When in Spanish Village I recommend stopping by Shells In Design for an omelet...I mean "Awe-umm-letting".
This is my bright smiling review of Dr. Krasne and his office staff! From the moment I stepped into the clinic I felt at ease and was greeted by friendly professional staff including the owner of the clinic Dr. Hema who welcomed me to the clinic and scheduled me an appointment with Dr. Krasne. This dental group took exceptional care of me during the numerous dental visits I had in the clinic. Dr. Krasne and his team always explained every step in detail and answered all my questions I had along the way. I decided to pay for custom bleach trays and I was so very pleased with the results. Next I had my two crowns completed and my cracked tooth repaired. Which totaled 3 front teeth Dr. Krasne fixed to perfection. I'm so impressed by the results and how absolutely beautiful my teeth look. I was so pleased with the exceptional professionalism and customer service Dr. Krasne and his staff provided. I highly recommend Dr. Krasne and his entire staff to anyone who is looking for a top notch professional, caring, thorough, amazing dental office. If you want sparkling beautiful movie star teeth definitely choose Dr. Krasne! No matter where my work takes me I will always fly back to have this amazing dentist care for my smile! Thank you so much for all your hard work making my smile perfect!!!
I went to Dr. Tourian for an emergency visit. I was in so much pain and I had not been to the dentist in years (the number of years is too embarrasing to say!) I was so scared to even pick up the phone and call, let alone go in, but I was having such a bad toothache I had no choice, plus I was scared about cost (I don't have insurance). When I called the girl who answered the phone was so warm and caring, she accomodated me and got me in right away. When I got to the office it was really nice inside and very modern. It had more of a home feel than a dental office feel...when I met Dr. Tourian he was so nice and genuine. He had this cool camera that showed my tooth up close on the screen for me so that I could see what he was seeing...he was so kind and he explained EVERYTHING. I immidiately felt at ease and a little more comfortable. They had a payment plan without interest that I signed up for. They put some sort of berry flavored gel or something that made me numb, so when I got the dreaded shot, I did not even feel it! It was the best dental experience I have ever had and I will never go to another dentist!! The website is so accurate in it's description: www.myfavoritedentist.net it's so true!!
Initially, Dr. Styrt's outstanding credentials and referrals from patients drew me to his office. Once my husband and I met him, we were quite impressed with his desire to not only straighten our children's teeth, but to correct their bites and jawlines as well. Dr Styrt was as focused on their beautiful smiles as he was on correcting their alignment to avoid any future problems. There's much more to orthodontia than just straightening teeth. In the past several years, we have seen our children through expanders, braces, retainers and a number of other appliances. Throughout this experience, Dr. Styrt and his terrific staff clearly communicated with our children and with us about their progress. Another important factor to consider is his respect of his patient's (and their parents) time. We have NEVER had to wait more than 5 minutes when we have arrived on time for our appointment. His staff has always been friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating when we have had a scheduling conflict - they definitely go the extra mile. I couldn't more highly recommend Dr Styrt for his technical skill, his communication with patients/parents and his choice of qualified, capable and caring staff to work alongside him.
I ‘m so lucky to have Rob Robinson of State Farm Insurance has my agent. On June 9, 2011(Thursday) I discovered a spraying hot water leak in my Condo. It was a common area pipe. The HOA plumber fixed the pipe but I would have to take care of the clean up. Not knowing a company to rent blowers from I called Rob Robinson. Instead of giving me a name of company he came over early on Friday morning to see the damage. He felt there were more repairs to be done than just soaking up water. He called a contractor to estimate the damage done by the leak. It was a lot of damage. I had mold & mildew in a large area of my home caused by the spaying of the hot water. Without Rob’s honest assessment of my condo and his quick response to my problem it would have left me without knowing how much damage was done. I can not thank him enough for coming out personally to see what needed to be done & helping me put in a claim. Rob and the claims department did a great job in making me feel good about what needed to be done. If you are looking for someone who will help not only with the correct coverage but if a claim needs to be filed Rob Robinson is the best person for you.
Dr. Perlich and her team made one of the BEST DENTAL EXPERIENCES I've ever had! For starters, I hate going to the dentist- it can be expensive, scary, painful etc... but none of that was the case with my recent visit. Everybody was very friendly and warm (the girl who first checked me in (sorry, I forgot your name), Amy who got me started (dental hygienist??- took my xrays), and Dr. Perlich herslef. The facility is beautiful, the equipment high tech and everything is created to make it a nice experience (they even have coffee and tea etc. while you wait). Dr. Perlich herself was amazing- friendly, gentle and thorough, explaining everything as we went along (I'm the type who likes to know everything), and put me at ease about everything. She told me about new options I'd not heard of ('been to several other dentists) to make my fighting-middle-age-self's teeth stronger and prettier, plus, gave me options I could live with to improve my dental health (instead of things like "never eat candy or drink coffee again" type advice that I just wouldn't really follow... I HIGHLY recommend her and her staff- thanks to the Dr. Perlich team for making my visit a great one!
I haven't had dental insurance for some a few years now. I recently had a tooth that exploded in pain and needed to be pulled..SD Smile was able to get me in same day and get that horrible thing pulled out of my head....on a Saturday...as far as i know about dentists, that doesn't happen. My family Dentist that i had been going to most of my life( i had seriously been going to him for 25 years) couldn't "fit" me in on a Saturday. SD Smile were great and prompt and very efficient...i checked in using an iPad!!!! totally awesome!!!, i watched Family guy until the dentist was able to see me, they served hot tea which helped the pain, very nice, efficient...I can't say enough good things about this place. It probably took 30 mins in the office to get my tooth out..start to finish...and that wasn't cause i was the only client..i think i was the 4th tooth pull that day.. BTW, did i say an emergency call, on a Saturday.. bottom line...I FOUND MY NEW DENTIST!!!!! and i'm stoked on it..full exam, cleaning, and x-rays next time.. San Diego Smile Dentistry ROCKS!!!!!! Thank you very much..
Some people use their garages to keep their cars safe. Others use them to store boxes of books and home decorations. No matter how a garage is used, there is one key factor they all must have in common to protect the precious items within: A functional garage door.
There is no shortage of variety when it comes to choosing a garage door. Options include different materials, styles and lifting or opening methods, each with its own unique pros and cons.
When deciding on the right garage door, the first thing to consider is the style.
Garage Door Styles
The two most common styles of garage door include:
The benefits of swing-out doors are their classic look and the ability to keep the garage ceiling clear for added storage space. The major downside of this style is the amount of time it takes to manually lock, unlock, open, and close them. They can be manual or operated by a remote control.
Perhaps the most common and recognizable style is the roll-up garage door. These features are much easier to automate than their swinging counterparts, making them a preferred choice for many homeowners. However, ceiling space must be sacrificed to make room for the door when open. These are typically automatic, but manual models are also available.
Aside from these popular models, homeowners can choose between:
Once you've determined the style of garage door, you can move on to choosing the material. Some considerations you might keep in mind include:
If you're looking for something that will withstand the test of errant basketballs and driver's education students, a vinyl door might be your best bet. These doors are hard to dent or break and don't need much maintenance to keep up their appearance. They are usually built on steel frames with polyurethane insulation and come in a limited variety of colors.
Wood can stand up to plenty of the abuse a garage door may be subject to from time to time. They are also attractive doors with many color options. They can be painted or stained at the factory or on site. One of the biggest downsides to wood garage doors is the upkeep - they may need to be repainted or restained regularly to maintain the color.
Fiberglass doors can break with a strong impact but in general are pretty sturdy. Like vinyl doors, they are built on steel frames and insulated with polyurethane.
Wood composite doors have the same aesthetic advantages of wood doors but are less expensive. They usually have a wood frame and are filled with polyurethane insulation. Some may have fiberboard skins and are designed to closely mimic wood.
It doesn't take much to dent these doors, but they aren't very expensive and require little maintenance. However, they are subject to rust, especially in damper climates.
These doors can also easily dent but don't rust. They are also lightweight, which is ideal for larger garage doors, as more weight on such a large frame could put added stress on the lifting or opening mechanism.
Five basic designs of garage door openers are available to homeowners. Two are relatively recent developments, while the other three are fairly standard and have been around for decades.
One of the biggest advantages of the direct-drive opener is how silent it is. With the motor being the only moving part of this machine, it's said to be the quietest model available. This is one of the newest designs and was developed in Germany.
Another relatively recent design, this model is ideal for a homeowner who wants to keep the ceiling clear for storage. It is set up on the wall closest to the garage door as opposed to on the ceiling, like most garage door openers.
This opener is powered by a motor that rotates a threaded-steel rod on which a trolley rides. It is a relatively quick garage door opener, though most garage doors close at the same rate for safety reasons. Additionally, they are said to be the easiest to maintain, given that they don't involve many moving parts. However, these doors have a history of problems when the temperature quickly changes, and they are noisy. If there is an apartment or office above a garage, screw-driven openers may not be the best option.
These use a chain similar to that of a bicycle. The chain pulls a trolley connected to a bar that lifts the garage door. It can be noisy and cause vibrations, given the metal-to-metal contact, though more recent models are said to be a little bit better about this.
The function of belt-driven openers is the same as chain-driven openers. The only major difference is that instead of metal chains, these door openers are built with a belt made of fiberglass, steel-reinforced rubber, or polyurethane. This brings down the noise level but increases the price.
As with most things mechanical, garage doors may begin to develop problems after a few years of use. Many typical problems are easily identified and, with the right knowledge or help from a professional, aren't too difficult to fix.
Transmitter or Remote Won't Work
The first thing you should check in this instance is the transmitter battery. Dead batteries are often the culprit, though there are other causes seen as well. If the batteries are in good shape, take a look at the cables and tracks to make sure they are clear, clean, and sturdy.
Door Doesn't Close All the Way
If you notice a gap at the bottom of your garage door after closing it, try resetting the close limit. Your door might be set to close at a higher point than the ground. It might also be set too low, and when the door reaches the ground, the sensor reacts in the same way it would if an object was obstructing its path: by retreating upward.
Door Shakes When Opening
This could be caused by debris on the tracks or wheels. Clean these first to see if this is the problem. If not, the springs might be stretched unevenly or worn out.
Door Squeaks When Opening
The rollers are most likely dry and need to be lubricated.
Door Closes Faster Than Usual
A quickly closing garage door could easily become a safety hazard. The problem is usually springs that are too stretched out. They should be replaced by a professional. Working with these large springs can be difficult, and they can quickly turn into dangerous, fast-moving metal whips.
Door Makes a Strange Sound at the Same Point Every Time It's Used
This might mean your tracks are either dented, falling, or otherwise misaligned. This is not just annoying; it's dangerous. Misaligned or damaged tracks can cause the door to cease working or to fall off its tracks. If your door seems to be working fine overall, feel free to inspect the issue further. But if your door is stuck, slanted, or looks unstable, call a professional who will have the right tools to fix the problem.
Door Sticks When Opening or Closing
If you begin to notice this around a change in seasons, check the lubricant on the tracks. Weather patterns will affect lubricant's effectiveness. Dirt or debris on the tracks could also be the cause; make sure they're clear and clean. If the tracks look fine, make sure the doors are hung evenly.
It's not uncommon for a garage door to have a problem or two every once in awhile. But, if the same issue keeps coming up or one cause has led to a variety of problems, it might be time to consider replacing your door altogether.
For someone who's familiar with tackling tough home improvement projects, installing a garage door might be a viable do-it-yourself project. It'll likely take the better part of a Saturday, and it's not a bad idea to ask for help, especially when taking off the old door.
But if you're even a little bit wary of taking on such a large task, reaching out to a professional would probably be a smart move. On average, a new garage door installation will cost around $1,000. Most homeowners end up paying somewhere between $740 and $1,400, including the installation and the door itself.
Likewise, a custom garage door could be a project that an experienced wood or metal worker can take on with the right materials, tools, and knowledge. However, for the amateur DIY-er, contacting a professional might be the best way to go. If you are unfamiliar with the project, the weight alone could prove to be an issue. Depending on the size, it could weigh as much as 200 pounds, though some smaller or uninsulated ones could be less than 100 pounds.
To keep your garage door functional for as long as possible, try to inspect it every so often to ensure everything is working properly. A problem that goes too long without attention can only get worse and wind up costing you more to repair or replace the door.
About once a month, carefully observe the door as you open and close it. If you hear or see anything unusual, take a closer look at it. The regular motion could easily loosen up some of the hardware, so take a few minutes to tighten everything up. Also, be sure that tracks, tires, and other moving parts are properly lubricated.
If your door is painted, make sure it isn't chipped or peeling. Deteriorating paint on a wooden door could let moisture in, which leads to warped doors, while a steel door could rust if water gets in.
