Sigrid Williams, MD, MPH, is an obstetrician/gynecologist who provides expert prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, as well as comprehensive gynecological care. She is part of the maternity care team at UC San Diego Healths Hillcrest location, where low-risk mothers and babies can plan for deliveries at UC San Diego Medical Center. Dr. Williams also provides well woman visits, family planning, and treatment for issues such as abnormal Pap smears, fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, gynecological infections or sexually transmitted diseases.Her clinical and research interests include public health, health policy and advocacy, and providing care for the underserved. Dr. Williams has been active in community service and recently served as a member of WorkLife Laws Pregnancy Accommodations Working Group in San Francisco, where she collaborated with lawyers, health care providers and policy makers to prevent legal discrimination against pregnant women. Her published work has appeared in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UC San Francisco. During her residency training, Dr. Williams was selected for her clinical and leadership abilities to serve as chief resident. She was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her exemplary efforts in humanistic patient care and stature as a role model to medical students. During her residency, Dr. Williams received the San Francisco General Hospital Julius R. Krevans Award and the James R. Green Award, both for clinical excellence. Dr. Williams earned her medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona, where she graduated with distinctions in community service and global health. She also holds a masters degree in public health from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Outside of work, Dr. Williams enjoys running, learning to surf and literature.
