Great Job Shelter Island Boat Yard

I give Shelter Island Boat Yard my highest marks! Integrity, quality, innovation, knowledge and friendly and attentive service characterize my long term experiences with SIB. What qualifies me to make this declaration? I am an experienced yacht owner spanning over 30 years and my most recent project at the yard was likely the largest project completed by SIB and one of the largest in the San Diego area. Many of your readers may recall the BIG WHITE TENT at the yard for several years

Consistently Good Service

As a yacht captain I have been coming to Shelter Island Boatyard for many years now. They have always been very accommodating to the boat's schedule and fairly priced. The boat's that I usually work on, are too big for them to haul out at their yard, but I still go there for all of my other work. Between Es Iverson, John Gumb, Chuck Walling, and Wayne Morrison, they can take care of any problem or improvement, big or small. I cannot begin to list all of the work they have performed for me over the years but let me put it this way;

My job depends on the boat's owner being happy with me and the boat, and I have worked for the same owner for 18 years now. Shelter Island Boatyard is a big part of that. They have always come through for me and I cannot recommend them enough.

Time to say ""THANKS""

As a captain, I have worked with shipyards up and down both the East Coast and the West Coast. My yard work has been as simple as bottom painting to major refits on boats of 20 feet to 80 feet. Recently I asked Es and Wayne to extend an 80 foot power boat 4 four feet, move the hydraulic stern thruster, add underwater lights, replumb the bait tank, new interior custom cabinets with burl tops, remove a sea chest and replumb the main engine just to name a few of the countless jobs that occured. While at the yard and seeing firsthand the complex jobs they can handle, I added several change orders and each was performed professionally. Their workmanship was flawless, the results were better than our expectations and the billing was precise and timely. As I said, a simple thank you is not enough! We will be back again for any further work we may need in the future.

Great service, great flexibility.

We've had three experiences now with SIBY. All of them honest and fair.

A previous poster complained about unfair treatment at SIBY.. Some people love to BASH when they can do it anonymously and when they think they can slander good businesses, just because they are less than ethical themselves. Shame on them.

Wayne has always explained what our haul would cost and has even gone so far as to uphold a warranty despite the fact that the major product's company had gone out of business. You won't find this kind of service or business ethics often. You'll find them when dealing with SIBY. Wayne and the crew provide the best haul out experience possible.

We had to put our boat into storage to serve a year in Iraq. Wayne took care of us on both sides of the experience. He didn't even flinch when I needed an extra day in the yard.

Kudos as well to Hoffman Yacht Management for providing the services we needed while hauled out. Honest, fair service.

We intend to use SIBY for all future haul outs and recommend them without hesitation.

Outstanding Service!

Shelter Island Boatyard, located at 2330 Shelter Island Drive, has been a great supplier of boatyard services, haulouts and bottom jobs, for us (Mikelson Yachts) for many years. They can supply any number of marine services, and we have found all the staff at the boatyard as well as the independent subcontractors there to all be of outstanding character and ability. We

First Class operation

I renovated my 48ft Hatteras at Shelter Island Boatyard including a hull extension, paint, stainless, mechanical, etc. The yard and those who work there are outstanding professionals and if I were doing the same work again I would use them again. I will continue to use and recommend them to my friends.

Outstanding Service

Shelter Island Boat Yard is efficient and reasonable. The work they do is far surpassed my expectations and I was treated with great respect. I wouldn't trust my boat with anyone else. I will be returning to this business for years to come.
