Great business, knowledgeable, courteous staff, have answered many questions for me over the years. Have been coming here for over 12 years faithfully every week for the care and feeding of my Rosy Boa, Ozzy. He's doing very well; happy and healthy. Got info on this store by word of mouth and have referred many others.
I'm not sure about the negative reviews here. Perhaps they're reviewing the wrong store. Seriously though, while a couple of the employees here aren't the friendliest, most of them are very nice and helpful. The knowledge level does vary a bit from employee to employee. If you do your own research, this is not a problem. The knowledgeable ones are VERY good. The livestock selection is very good and they're generally very healthy. The ones that aren't are usually new arrivals. It's worth noting that I've never had a fish I bought there die, except one that jumped to his death. Their selection of non-living supplies is very good, though I've never found one store that has everything. Definitely worth shopping there.

I used to come here all the time as a child, and it has changed. I recently went here to purchase some tropical fish, as well as re-live some childhood memories.
I entered the store and began looking around like I did as a child, always entertained by the assortment of animals. I went to the fish section and was sad to see the Betta fish that were kept in their own little cups, just like at the larger chain stores. They were also selling the tiny 1/2 gallon kits for Bettas, when any experienced fishkeeper can tell you Bettas need atleast 3 gallons of water that is also heated. I was saddened by this, but not as much as what happened next.
I found the fish I was searching for and was astonished at the price of 3 for $10, however, I read online that they were 'rare' and took this to be a good deal. When I went to find an employee they had all but disappeared, I had to go to the reptile section to find someone, just for him to go off looking for the fish section employees. I purchased 6 for the price of $20. The fish died the next day, and my aquarium is established and cycled. When I later went to a larger chain store to look around, I found the same species of fish for $1 each!
They might have some rare and exotic animals here, but the prices are much too high. I have better luck at the chain stores around town, and the fact that it was a 30 minute drive doesn't help.
one of the best pet places you can get in imerial it has really good service and the workers do help out and ask if you need it so you dont have to go up to them they have some of the best foods for pets like science diet and its even cheaper than you can get it at petco witch is about the only other pet store in imperial valley that sells the high quality foods and supplies for animals.
What a great store! This is one of those one-of-a-kind stores with real personality. It's around 5000 sq ft and has just about everything in it. It's a bit cluttered and the interior isn't fancy like the big national pet store chains, but they have stock that the big chains have never even seen.
I was amazed by the variety and friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit if you have any pet related needs. Or if you're just bored and want something interesting to do.
Pet kingdom has a wide selection of products and animals of all sorts which they provide with great knowledge and expertice. They are very educational and have helped us a lot when we purchase fish at their store. I would definitely recommend going to fountains for supplies and or animals.

Store employees here act like they're doing YOU a favor by shopping there. They rarely ask you if you need help with anything. Anytime you walk into the fish department none of the employees even notice you. They'll just be working on their tanks or talking to eachother or eating their lunch. Even when I walk up to one of them and look them in the faces they won't make eye contact until I actually ask for help. Talk about making the customer feel awkward. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THIS STORE FOR 2 YEARS AND THE EMPLOYEES STILL ACT LIKE THEY DON'T RECOGNIZE ME. That is it though, I am not shopping here anymore after today. Plus this is probably one of the ugliest pet stores for its' size I have seen. Only plus about this place is that you can buy pets they don't have at places like Petsmart or Petco.

Pet Kingdom is one of the greatest stores ever! Their only concern is for their animal's well being; when they sell you an animal, they make sure that you have everything you need for it, whether it be a book on how to take care of your new pet, or a properly sized environment. I often bring my cat into the store because the employees like him and are kind enough to let him hang out (and watch him too) while I shop around the store! The incident with the animal with no water in a cage was blown way out of proportion and it started and ended up in what I feel was a roommate argument that I should've taken outside. My cat was in the cat condo for about 45 minutes without water, but the entire time leading up to the incident he had been hanging out on the counter with plenty of fresh drinking water. After the incident occurred, 3 different employees brought out water for a cat that wasn't even theirs. The employees have been nothing but kind and helpful to me, and they are 100% in the pet business for the animals. They clean the cages, the water dishes, and the counters everyday, and they always give their animals fresh fruits and veggies. If you want one of the largest selections of reptiles and fish, Pet Kingdom is the place to go (and they also have small mammals too)!!! I highly recommend this store to any animal lover, I know that I will always go their for as long as I live in San Diego!!!!!!!!
