Everyone is right about being scammed. I over payed for 4 days. After all the fees & insurance they up sell you. Your going to pay about $611.45 for 4 day. Dont buy the insurance. Make sure you fill the gas tank because they faild to mention. They charge $7.99 per gallon.

NEVER AGAIN

I rented a car for about 3 weeks. I called both on-site where I picked the car up and 1800 number to confirm I could drop it off at another location closer to me, being that I found the information on the COMPANY WEBSITE, where it clearly states "PAYLESS CAR RENTAL SERVICED BY OTHER KNOWN VENDOR. I got a clear yes from both actual location and call center to be sure. When I got to the second location they informed me that they could not return the vehicle because they DON'T SERVICE PAYLESS. THE WEBSITE information was false and both representative and management were inaccurate. Then to make matters worse I called in a corporate complaint, they didn't return my phone calls or even call to resolve the complaint. They sent me an email stating I would continue to be charged. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND or USE THIS COMPANY EVER.

DO NOT rent from Payless! PAY MORE is more like it!!

I'm not sure that I have the words to express how aggravated and upset I am with this company. They should be out of business entirely. My husband arrived into San Diego around 9:30 pm, and had a long day of flying across the country, with stops along the way. Not to mention that my husband is recovering from a serious spinal surgery and was going to San Diego for an important Dr. visit. He informed me that he had arrived in San Diego, but was waiting for the Payless shuttle to come. It took them over an hour to get there to begin with, so the situation started off badly. As my husband arrived at the Payless location on Kettner, He went to the front desk with his reservation information (which he had made on Expedia along with his airline tickets). The price seemed to be the cheapest in town, so it made sense to make a reservation with them. However, there was no written regulations or other fees presented with the original reservation. It looked to be easy enough, and hassle free. WRONG!!! They tried to charge us a $1000 deposit because my husband was using a debit card!!! He had left his other credit cards with me, and was not expecting to have them put a $1000 hold just for a 1 day car rental! I am used to most rental companies charging up to $300 for a hold, but $1000 is absurd? I mean, most people don't have that kind of money, and if they do, it's because they're on vacation in California and need that money for hotel and fun... not for a stupid car! My husband and I are livid about this issue. They didn't offer to call him a cab or anything. No apologies, no anything. It's now 11 pm, and my husband had to call a cab to come pick him up just because of Payless' ridiculous fees. Also, just for the insurance, they wanted an extra $250 for 2 days!!! Um, really? That is so far beyond stupid, that I can't even wrap my head around it. We will NEVER, ever ever rent from this company again. I would suggest you do the same. They will be getting a written letter stating our opinion of not only terrible customer service, but not disclosing the fact that their deposit amount is out of this world, and that they would rather lose business of people, then lower their fees. It's just not right to let people make a reservation online, and then not tell them what to expect, especially when it's late at night and the customers are tired from traveling all day!



SHAME ON YOU PAYLESS! You can count on the fact that I will spread the word around of how terrible of a company you are.
