David Shapiro has a long-standing reputation for protecting the rights of those charged with crimes. While in law school, David fought for the rights of prisoners during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and continued on to defend the rights of older prisoners. He was able to hone his skills while working in the San Diego Public Defender's Office for four years before founding his own law firm, the Law Office of David P. Shapiro.

Not too long ago I was pulled over for a DUI. It was a stupid move, I know, but at the time I didn't think that I was too intoxicated to drive. I'd only had a few drinks but hadn't eaten much that day, so as I was driving home the cocktails hit me. No excuses. I was pulled over while driving down Imperial Ave in San Diego, the officer asked me how much I had to drink. I told him, he asked me to step out of the car, and then breathalyzer-ed me. I failed and was arrested (thankfully my sister picked up my car so it wasn't towed!). After an awful night, the next morning I talked to my sister again and she told me about this criminal attorney that she knew, David Shapiro. So, I called him up and scheduled a consultation. From the first second that I met him, David was truly great. He treated me like a real person, not just another case or another person who had messed up. He actually cared about me and the charges against me (1st offense ever), and got me off with just a warning!
