Bethany E. Karl, DO, is board-certified nephrologist. She is an assistant professor in Department of Medicine and works in the Divisions of Nephrology as well as Hospital Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Karl completed a fellowship in nephrology and hypertension and a residency in internal medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Maine. She is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology.She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology and Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California. Prior to medical school, Dr. Karl worked as an emergency medical technician and wilderness medicine Instructor.
