Just got back from staying at this resort for 1 week. Great location on Mission Bay. Resort is nice throughout with great pool etc. Has a nice restaurant and seperate bar too. They have 2 seals that are in a huge pond that are part of the rescue mammel project in San Diego. They feed them twice a day. They also have a cool big paddle boat (like the kind that use to go along the Mississippi river) that takes you on a 1 hour tour of the bay. It only runs Fri & Sat nights. The 1 point that wasn't so good, is the room we stayed in had an old boxy tv - not flat screened which I expected for the price we paid a night, plus it being a suite. The Suite we stayed in was one of the first built years ago - and it had a bit of a musty smell.

I recently took my family here for a vacation and didn't realize until just before we arrived that I went here as kid myself when it was called Vacation Village. It has been upgraded (thankfully) but could use a little polish. But the set up is perfect for families. The pool has a long walk-in section for little ones and the bungalow style rooms let you put the kids down then sit on the patio, looking at the bay while having a drink. It is one of the few places that allows for bonfires on the beach at night. The smores taste good here. Close to Sea World and other SD attractions. Onsite restaurants make it all easy.
Whenever we visit San Diego (twice yearly), we make a stop at PB Resort Wear. I checked their hours this morning before leaving the hotel and their site said, "Open now, open 24 hours a day," which seemed odd, but OK. I arrived and the place was locked up tight. More frustrating was the fact that there was no sign on the door indicating when they ARE open! 9:00? 10:00? 11:00? Or perhaps the owner is on vacation!!! A simple sign with hours posted is standard! Otherwise, I love the store, but this is the reason for my 3-star rating.
One of my favorite places to stay in San Diego. The primo rooms here are the bunagalows (complete with living room and kitchenette) that open right onto the bay (with your own expanse of grass and sandy beach!) There are fire pits for roasting marshmallows in the evening, and five pools on the property. With two restaurants (one fancy/one slightly more casual) and a pizza place on site, you really don't need to leave the resort, but you are just down the road from Sea World if you feel the need to.
The staff was very nice and courteous; the location of the Hotel was convenient. As a business traveler, I get very little down time at the end of the day. So, the quality of the facilities during my down time is very important to me. “Mission Valley Resort” added to a pleasurable, peaceful, and satisfying down time. I will return when in town. Really lovely property just down the street from Sea World. It is like a hawaiian paradise on it's own island! Has multiple pools, tennis courts, beautiful beach with fire pits, gorgeous rooms, lush grounds, event rooms, restaurant, watercraft and bicycle rentals. It really is a great get away! We have stayed here at least 7 times over the past 10 years!
lot of plants and aesthetics, but rooms are too small atleast ones i stayed in and bathrooms are not properly designed
