Arthritis
Orthoses (shoe inserts) may be useful in controlling abnormal foot movement, and may reduce symptoms for those with a painful bunion that has not yet caused a significant bony abnormality at the joint. If a systemic disease like rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis is related to the bunion, appropriate medical treatment may be recommended.
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, the band of tissue that spans from the heel to the toes. Heel pain results from the fascia becoming irritated and then inflamed.
Cryotherapy
Topical and oral treatments, acid treatments, laser therapy, cryotherapy (freezing) or surgery may be used for wart removal.
Emergency Care
An ankle injury should be evaluated by Dr. Radovic for proper diagnosis and treatment. If Dr. Radovic is not immediately available, the patient should go to the emergency room for initial evaluation, then follow up with Dr. Radovic for a more complete examination.

Dr. Radovic achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Molecular-Cellular Developmental Biology in 1982 at the University of Colorado and went on to obtain a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine, from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1987. Medications, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or cortisone injections, may be prescribed to ease pain and inflammation caused by joint deformities. Physical therapy, ultrasound treatment, whirlpool baths or other techniques can also provide temporary relief.

Joint Replacement
For a severe bunion, a combination of the following procedures may be necessary: removal of the enlarged portion of the bone; cutting and realignment of the bone; and correction of the tendons and ligaments.If the joint is destroyed beyond repair (commonly seen in arthritis), it may need to be reconstructed or replaced with an artificial joint. Joint replacement implants may be used in the reconstruction of the big toe joint.

Achilles Tendonitis
Achilles tendonitis and Achilles tendinosis are two disorders that often occur in the heel cord. Achilles tendonitis is normally a temporary inflammation of the Achilles tendon. If not resolved, the inflammation may lead to Achilles tendonosis, a degeneration of the tendon. This tendon degeneration results in loss of organized structure and most likely leads to microscopic tears. At times, the degeneration involves the site where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel bone. Rare cases result in chronic degeneration with or without pain that may result in tendon rupture.
Ankle Instability
Chronic ankle instability is the sudden collapse of the outer side of the ankle when standing, walking or playing sports. This instability usually develops after repeated ankle sprains. A number of athletes and other people suffer from chronic ankle instability.

A serious bone fracture, or other severe ankle injury may have occurred in addition to the sprain. If left untreated, such conditions may lead to serious complications.

A neuroma is an inflamed nerve that can occur at any point along a nerve. Morton's neuroma - the most common type of foot neuroma - affects the interspace between the third and fourth toes. Intermetatarsal neuroma is another name for this condition, as it is located in the ball of the foot between the metatarsal bones. Neuromas also occur less commonly in other areas of the foot.

Podiatric Deformities
Athletes are commonly affected by disorders of the Achilles tendon. People with jobs that overstress the ankles and feet, such as laborers, are at high risk as well. “Weekend warriors” - individuals who are less conditioned to undertake athletic activities on the weekends or infrequently - may develop these injuries. Lastly, people with foot deformities and excessive pronation place greater demands on the tendon when walking. Coupled with unstable footwear, their over-pronation could aggravate the Achilles tendon and result in inflammation.
