Great atmosphere and outstanding service. Romantic but yet family oriented. The food was out of this world... A must have experience! For me and my party of 30 people was fairly easy to find parking.

What a mistake-not a good place to eat. No parking, and while all the staff was friendly and helpful-the food was so not worth the $. The caesar salad was fine, but small. The skirt steak was tough, and the flavor wasn't worth all the chewing it took. The wine they recommended with it was a poor choice. The desserts were the worst-when there is a chocolate cake I won't eat, it's pretty bad. My sister had the lemon tart, and the crust was inedible. Completely inedible. I would never go back here.

Thr food was uninspired and quite frankly not very good. Service was somewhere between disinterested and incompetent. Our server wanted to take our dinner order without offering to take a beverege order first or explain the specials. When asked whether there were any specials, he said something to the effect of ""Oh, I'll have to go check"" and disappeared for 15 minutes, still not having taken a drink order. When we finally sorted that out and got our order in we found the seared duck risotto was way overdone as was the ahi tuna. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Town or up the street to Cafe La Tosca.

While the food and ambience could be described as adequate, the service and service practices leave much to be desired.
On a recent date evening at Piacere, my glasses and sunglasses were left at our table.
Despite the fact that we were pretty much the last couple out, AND that we had the waiters name, neither of the items ever re-appeared. Rather the management insisted, that we lost them somewhere else - which was simply impossible.
Anyway - not an experienece to be repeated.

I had been to Piacere a few times before my most recent visit this past Tuesday, but this was first occasion at which I actually sat down for a full meal. What was I thinking, waiting all these years?
They have full Bar but It's true, though, you can enjoy Piacere just as a wine bar, and be quite happy with that. they serve wine in a small half carafes .Most of their wines are from Southern Italy and California as well. The scene out front is a bustling one, and the bar scene is one of the more social and flirty ones . Everyone knows everyone shaking , hugging ,kissing each other
The restaurant is packed most nights so definitely make a reservation. The dining room is spacious Like New York design and lively, and there's outside (heated) seating as well. We we're sitting next to San Carlos Mayor

My wife and I dined at Piacere around Christmas. It was a disaster. Bad food. Bad service. My wife had previously also had a so-so experience there. Being a slow learner or a forgiving sort, I wanted to give them another chance. I recently dined there solo to give them a final try. While my meal was not disastrous, it certainly didn't merit a third strike. I ordered a salad and gnocchi. The salad was unremarkable. The gnocchi were heavy, hard and buried in a thick sauce. I was sitting on the patio outside and had to work hard to get the waiter's attention. There are too many good restaurants near by to waste time or money at Piacere.

We have been there a couple of times and we decided this last time we had to give this place a review. Save your time! Who cares about the money... the evening starts off with the parking, which there is none. The bouquet of flowers in the entrance are gorgeous but still can not make-up for our late and lousy food. The wait staff know nothing about pairing wine and food. With so many other places, why go here? Who's cares about the money, what about your time?

My wife and I were regulars at Piacere before they ""refreshed"" the design and expanded. Among the crowd of Italian restaurants in San Carlos this was our favorite. They recently closed to rebuild and have opened with a ""cool"" new look. If you like crisp, modern design you will probably appreciate the look. If you like your modern with some warmth then this is a miss (cool sometimes means cold). Foodwise, the taste seems to have gone down while prices went up.

Piacere is really a very fine place to dine. The food is so enjoyable, and the service is really so complete, that I know it was important to my waiter that I remember my time with great pleasure. Whenever I am in the area, I will always hope to have time in my busy schedule to come by again. Please keep up the good work. I know it is a difficult undertaking, and you are to be highly complimented. Thank you Piacere Ristorante, and thank you DINO for the excellent service.

after we saw all the comments hee we thought we should go to piacere and see waht happened after the remodeling and wow we were impres.the way they did this is amazing. we dont know any restaurant in the bay area wich is nice , stylish and futuristic like piacere.we went there this past friday they had live music which was realy nice . the food was outstanding like the service we had our waiter was alex and he did a great job and the wine he recommended was realy great.overall we will be back and tell our friends that they have to see the new piacere.

After sitting at the bar for a good 15 minutes without being acknowledged and watching approx. four waitstaff figure out how to make a drink, we had to ask for a wine menu. The food is overpriced and the staff is unfriendly and slow. Unless you have a lot of patience and time on your hands, don't bother wasting your time.
The recently reopened and enlarged ""Piacere"" does not hold a candle to the old restaurant. Gone is the old staff, good italian food and the cozy Roman/Tuscan ambience. Replaced by the contemporary mausoleum-like design, a skeleton menu, poor dishes, a limited choice of wines (available only by either glass or half a bottle) and overstaffed personnel. No wonder the place is empty. They must be running under the new ownership ans (mis)management. What a waste!
A one time favorite, it has been scrached from our ""favorite restaurants"" list. Our meal was about the only positive experience of the evening. Untrained wait staff is the biggest culprit to our poor visit. 20 minutes after being seated and three request later water was finally poured, bread served after appeticers where cleared. Three manager type staff spent most of the time figuring where to sit customers but not one of them ever approched any tables to check on customers. What should have been a very special evening (Birthday celebration) turned out to be just another evening at a over priced eating establishment disguising it self as a fine restaurant.
