Mercy Air is a disaster. Do not use this service. They transported my wife who had just suffered an MCA/ACA stroke from Riverside Regional Med Ctr in Moreno valley to LLUMC ICU in Loma Linda. Deplorable unprofessional conduct on the part of the crew. No sense of urgency. Instead of transport in minutes it took over an hr of pre-flight bungling before they finally got off the ground. The next insult was the bill for transporting the patient 11 nautical miles for $37,178!! Then they demanded I deposit the insurance check into my personal bank account and initiate an EFTS xfer. I made the funds available then waited 4 days for them to transmit to their side then removed the funds back to my other acct. Several days later we retried the process and they delayed again to complete the xfer. Finally they withdrew the funds after stalling another 3 days for no apparent reason. Next insult was when they botched the paperwork and claimed they did not receive the $37.2K implying I was engaging in some type of fraud or subterfuge when it was their lackadaisical attitude and ineptitude that was the root cause. I sent them copies of my detailed bank records then they acknowledged an accounting snafu. These folks are a bunch of incompetent greedy knuckleheads. They charge Nieman Marcus rates for K-Mart service. The flight crew consisted of a bunch of unprofessional goof-offs oblivious to the serious nature of the stroke victim. They are repugnant, reprehensible bozos. There needs to be some accountability for this amateurish conduct. The CEO really needs to call Larry, Moe and Curly onto the carpet, crack the whip, and provide a line-by-line dime-by-dime accounting of this egregious gouging of a helpless patient.
