I took my 2006 Expedition to Gene Brown Transmission on Grissom for transmission rebuild and they really took care of me. They kept me updated on everything and they were very reasonable. I felt they were very honest and real experts. I would recommend them for any vehicle maintenance/repairs.

After having a very good mechanic friend move away, we entered one of our greatest fears. Finding a Mechanic we could trust. I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic. We'll unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options. Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carl's prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED. 2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled "burnt, rotten eggs" (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had "exploded". Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery. Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughter's birthday party in 4 days. We didn't need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal. I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan. TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!

Distrust

Took my 1975 Chevy C10 Truck in on a saturday after a phone conversation with the establishment inquiring about getting a leaking TH350C automatic sealed (transmission runs and shifts fine). Quoted under $100. Received a phone call from establishment quoting me $600 for work (sounds like a rebuild price). I advised would just like the transmission sealed for the first price quoted. They will call me back after they get it back on the lift. Received a call from business and was advised driveshaft was jammed in tranny tailhousing and could not work on vehicle. (I recently swapped out 3 speed manual for the automatic and had no issue putting the driveshaft in). O.k. , no problem, i thought i had done something incorrectly on the swap. Took truck home, pulled in my garage and slid under side to take a look. I had 1 inch and 1/4 of the yoke showing out of the tailhousing (plenty of travel space). Definately not "jammed" into the tailhousing. Removed bolts from u-joint at rearend, slid the driveshaft yoke 1 1/4" into the tranny tailhousing and driveshaft came off easily. Now, if i didnt want to get the $600 rebuild done, and to seal the transmission was going to require a little more time/labor than the $100 quote, couldnt i have been quoted a new price (somewhat higher) instead of being fed such a blantant story? (i use the word "story" as the word "lie" is not nice. If you were not or could not make money off this service, a simple phrase on my initial telephone call could have went like this "My apologies sir, we do not do that type of work, the labor cost would just be to high.

Thorough

I have been a patron of this repair shop for about 2 years. As a single woman it is important to me to find and keep an honest and knowledgeable mechanic. I have found the owner Randy Zands and Rick to be exceptional in diagnosing problems. They are very thorough and always offer advice on other "potential" problems they may find as they are diagnosing the current problem. In the past vacuum leaks were repaired which were not part of the initial problem. Every effort is made to repair what is needed and to repair or notify me of potential issues as they are discovered. When I request additional services like " check the air filter or reharge the permanent filter" or adjust headlights on my 1999 Beetle my requests are handled with enthusiasm and without delay. In addition, my questions of what may lie ahead in terms of a Bettle that has quite a few miles on it.. I am given honest and specific information. Rebuilt parts are offered as an alternative to new ones. I feel as though we are working together as a team to mitigate repairs and increase car performance. I have confidence that once I drive off the shop property, if I experience additional problems with work completed, it will be attended to quickly and with a high work ethic. I highy recommend this shop and its mechanics for quality performance, a high work ethic and a committment to its customers to continuously offer exceptional value for every repair dollar. Right now I am giving Performa...

Right now I am giving Performance automotive 4 stars for now. This may go up or down from here on this is what happened to me. My prelude was not leaking oil but eating it. And I kept getting code for an ERG insufficent air flow and I didn't feel I was getting the gas mileage I should be either. I brought it to them and they replaced the ERG valve to the tune of about $500. Soon after leaving the engine light came back on and I ignored it out of frustration na d knowing it wasn't a serious problem. But after a couple weeks I checked the oil and it was bone dry. So I put oil in it and brought it back to performance auto not too happy I spent $500 and didn't fix not one of my problems with my car. They spent a couple hours looking at car free of charge. Told me I need new o2 sensor and rings and seals needed to be replaced in engine. And even took the time to show me why they rings and seals needed to be replaced. With the oil cap off while the car was running exaust was coming up through the manifold and out the oil cap. They said the would change the O2 sensor for just the cost of the part they would not charge me labor. I know it is something easy to change, but it was nice of them to do. I go back today to have them do that. And I will find out about the cost to replace rings and seals in the engine. I hope I don't get gouged on this, because I already spent my savings on replacing the erg valve on the car.

I'll begin with positive comme...

I'll begin with positive comments: Richard was very knowledgeable and answered all my inquiries and concerns. His customer service skills are excellent. However, with the positive comes the negative. 1. The website claimed to provide towing service. I was told that the owner had and the towing provider had a few disputes. Thus they could not provide it at the moment. RED FLAG. 2. This place might not be ideal for newer model cars or well taken care of cars. Especially if you value the appearance and cleanliness of the vehicle. The car was returned with grease smeared on the seats. NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL. 3. Before commencing work on the vehicle, I had inquired if they accepted credit cards or GE money card. I was assured that they did. However, they did not accept this form of payment and claimed that the machine was down. Don't advertise the service if they equipment is not stable. It was very inconvenient. 4. I was also told that my car had other things wrong with it during the repair. I was 100 percent sure that nothing else was wrong with it prior to my issue. It turned out to be their mistake. Overall, I would not recommend this place. It is a good starting point for an assessment but I would take to elsewhere.

There is no misrepresentation of our warranty. It is stated, in bold print, on the front page of a signed invoice. It is the identical coverage we gave you on another vehicle we repaired for you in 2012. We extended our mileage warranty to 50,000 miles for you, of which you accumulated 47,479 miles. We agree that you were within the mileage warranty period but unfortunately we don't have coverage in Ft. Stockton. We tried to locate satellite locations that can assist us in getting you back on the road but there is very few shops in that part of Texas other than the Dealership. You told us that you were having the dealer install a transmission--regardless. We contacted the service department and spoke with the ******* *******. We asked him what was wrong with the transmission and his diagnosis. He told us that no formal inspection was done, no electronic scan, or pan inspection. The only thing inspected was the fluid level and condition. He stated to you that there was an option to pull, inspect and repair what was wrong but you told him to order and replace regardless. Had you been anywhere near San Antonio or the surrounding area, even if you were out of warranty by 2,500 miles, we would of covered the repairs.

My story was this - started having clutch problems with my 07 VW Jetta. Took it to the dealership just to see what was going on, and they informed me that I needed a new clutch kit and flywheel, quoted me a little over $1900. That stung. I took my car into European Car Parts and was immediatly put at ease by Rick. He asked me to bring my car in to have a look at it. All, in all, they were able to save my flywheel, thus saving me money. They installed a new clutch kit, and now my baby is running so smoothly! I had this work done over the Christmas holiday, so needed a rental for a few days. Even with 6 days of the rental (did I mention European Car Parts has an awesome deal with Toyota Rental cars??) I still managed to save over $400 from the dealerships original quote. AWESOME! This is a small shop, off the beaten path, but is a GEM! I will definitely be bringing my car back for any other repairs/routine maintenance in the future. Rick, Randy, and their crew are professional, reliable, and I cannot recommend them more. Hope this helps! I know car repairs (alteast for me) are always a daunting area....

Very Satisified Customer

As a repeat customer of over 3 years I thought I would write a review. I have a 99 honda civic, 04 Ford F-150 and a 01 Mercedes. Cris has been the manager since I first brought my 99 Honda Civc in for a diagnostic for gears sticking. I needed a new transmission but he was able to rebuild my old transmission at a fraction of the cost and in a timely manner efficient manner. Cris kept in contact with me each step of the way. Offered a payment plan and an awesome warranty. I have since brought my 01 Mercedes and 04 Ford F150 for regular maintaince that the dealer would charge me an arm and a leg. In this economy I highly recommed this shop. They save all old parts for your review and completely walk you through each repair required..

Quality transmission rebuild

After my carpet cleaning van was sabotaged by 210 motorsports, I was quick to turn to hi-tech transmissions. The co-owner Gerrald was very professional, honest and didn't bs me on anything he had to offer. He even went out of his way to check other parts on my van that had nothing to do with the trans, free of charge. I owe this guys everything and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thanks to them my van, employee, and business are back on track. They saved my business and it was done fast, affordable and built the right way. Although I live in Austin, I'll always take my transmissions to them for now on. Remember, there's some things you absolutely can't take the cheap route on and you get what you pay for!!

Thanks guys for a great job ! ...

Thanks guys for a great job ! I went to another transmission shop dont want to say no names (MR.TANSMISSION) and they said my car was in great need of a rebuild trans. But when i asked, after they took my 55.00$$$ what the problem was, they could not answer me but that it would take about 1000.00$$ to start So I went down the road and talked to a pro ,a real pro. his name Richard . This guy looked me rite in the eye and said just what was wrong with the car and that it would cost way less(700.00$$) less and he was rite. My wife is happy so well of course this means i very happy. thank again for a Great Job Guys. God Bless....... Steve Villanueva
