Their meat is prepared fresh each day and you can taste it. The best burger I have found in all of San Antonio. I sometimes try other burger joints looking for others that know how to make a good one, but only Fatty's has come close.

My husband and I have been going to this little burger restaurant since we were in high school and dating over 9 years ago. We ALWAYS make sure to grab our combo meals (we even order the same kind of burger we've ordered since we were teens every time!) on the way to the MIssion Drive-In Movie…

Drinks are big, strong and good. But you can get a better burger at whataburger for a lot less. I've read alot about this restuarant and was really surprised at how blaise the hamburger was. I got the guac burger and almost sent it back cause I thought they forgot to put the guacamole on, but th…

I have visited this location for dinner several times but this last visit was the first time I have ever ordered dessert. I ordered their dessert minis which are strawberry cheesecake, key lime pie, and chocolate trifle. I ordered one of each and thought they were very cute when the waitress brought them out. They were all lined up in shot glass like dishes with the spoon sticking straight out. For being so small they defiantly got your attention. The Cheesecake was probably my favorite, it was nice and creamy and had a wonderful flavor in the graham cracker crust and paired with the strawberries was very delicious. It was also a nice alternative to the traditional presentation of cheesecake. The key lime pie i didn't like so much though. The flavor of the key lime was pretty spot on it was just the crust that made the dessert not what it could have been. The crust tasted as if it could have been frozen and then thawed out or like a stale vanilla wafer cookie crumble. The chocolate trifle would have been my favorite since it was for sure made for a chocolate lover like myself but the mousse that was layered in between the cake was a one-note item. It had great texture but that was about all you got from it, it needed some added flavor like a liquor or a coffee or hazelnut or something to give it something special. The chocolate cake that was in it though was very good and my favorite part of that dessert it was light and moist and had just the right amount of chocolate flavor. One thing about the cheesecake and key lime that i didn't like was the whipped cream. It tasted like it came from a can and a bit oily it was not anything like a fresh whipped cream so that is one thing i would definitely change. I had a overall great experience and minus the few set backs in the desserts i did really enjoy them. I would just suggest a few alterations and then i would most defiantly order them again.
I am not sure if many places...especially of the fast food sorts...would fit the bill for a 5-star rating. Still, Podna's Catfish and Po'Boys was an easy choice for a top rating. Having spent 6 months living in San Antonio, this place became one of my favorites. Although it is a place that could be easily overlooked on Austin Highway, and generally would not be fit for a 30 minute lunch if you work downtown, I found as many opportunities to go back as my co-workers would allow. The food in general is really good, but of course, you should shoot for the po'boys. My favorite was the 12" 1/2 fried oyster, 1/2 fried shrimp. Whatever you choose, it is overflowing with meat, the roll that it comes in is fresh and the sauce that you can add on your own is great. The fries weren't necessarily my favorite, but they are still really tasty and not overly fried or salty. This is a pretty basic restaurant, and watch out for the high noon lunches, as it might be difficult to find a table. But the staff is really nice and the owner, who willingly shares about his visit to New Orleans which led to the start of his business, is definitely a friendly character. Although I was never that rushed, they even have a drive-through, and I have heard that you can call in orders and have them cater. Now, I am off to new eating adventures in Dallas, TX as a next step in my own professional pursuits, but Podna's will definitely be on my list when I take my next trip to SA.
First off, Bubba's new hours are Thursday-Saturday 11-8. It is Family Owned and Operated. My family and I have been wanting to try this place and finally we got the chance. We drove up to the building which is a small white house and gravel parking lot. We arrived around 3pm and there were 4 other vehicles. We walked into the house which was filled with race car memorabilia and a gentleman at the counter where you place your order. The place was nice and cozy and people came and went with to go orders. I ordered the 1/4 pound burger with cheese, lettuce, tomatos, onions pickles, fries and a drink. The burger was delicious, very tasty and juicy. The meat was not dry and the vegetables were fresh. The french fries were cut just right and nice and warm. Most burger joints seem to think that they have to make a huge, over powered meat patty with an oversized bun ect....Bubba's burgers are just right and filling. They serve you in a basket and the burger is wrapped in white paper, so you don't make a mess. The staff was very friendly and seemed to know most customers that walked in. They seem very LOYAL to their customers. They also serve chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and I think I even saw a burrito on the menu. My family and I like to find the best burger joints and we've frequented many. I would have to say this burger is by far one of the best I've ever had.
Hey Dawg! Don't know what kind of mood you and your friends were in when you ate there, but I tell you, all in my party of 4 thought the food was great. Your comment is what made me go running to try Bubba's out; to see for myself! I had the Cheeseburger Combo, consisting of Huge Burger, huge bun, with cheese, mayo, chili, pickles and onions, plus an extra one, and unsweeten ice tea - free refills. (Yes I WAS HUNGARY!).... My son had the chili cheese dog combo, plus and extra one also, with onion rings and coke; two friends each had the hamburger combo with the usual condiments, plus fries (good ones, not HEB Orida type), very good and tasty. We would go back again, also recommend it. Chili did have the "can taste" but it was still good..........(haven't found a chili yet that tastes like the kind we cook in Lexington, NC; nor the Lexington BBQ - I just can't get use to the smokey taste in the TX BBQ)... but it's good if not too smokey to me. Come on, give it another chance. Everyone I told about your review, there in the restrauant, couldn't believe it, they thought I was wrong, etc., thinking it was another Bubbas.......... SEEMS THE ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD LIKES TO EAT THERE.........By the time we got through with our order, people were lined up to the front door and around tables............
In an era of cutting corners and passing along the bill to the customers, its great to know that their are restaurant owners who still care about the community they are a part of. The staff at Tresca are proud of their ellegant spot in the Plaza at Concord on Sonterra. The hostess explained to us that tresca meant "a love affair." And that the owners indeed have a love for the city they are part of. All of the art is local, and the food is exceptionally fresh crisp and tasty. The server informed us that Tresca is commited to using friendly farm meats and organic veggies. The wine list is extensive yet not over priced and if your group has varied tastes you can order bt the caraffe, glass, bottle, or just a splash. I thought this offering was unique and perfect for diners in this area. I love trying different wines, and it is obvious that Tresca has designed their wine menu with their guests in mind. The service was the best Ive had in quite a while. When it came time to move between courses, it felt as if the entire staff made our group the priority! Thank you and we will be back soon.
I have been to Pat O's many times for lunch and hurricanes and always have had a great time. Lately I have not been going out because San Antonio Bars are all the same. Meat markets with guys trying to grab you in places they should'nt. Tonight I was downtown with my girls and we ended up on the patio listening to an acoustic band jamming and drinking Yup you guessed it Hurricanes. I went to the ladies room and discovered a stairwell going up with people making their way up there. I followed a couple and ended up in a bar that reminded me of a place I went last winter in Berlin. OMG. it was amazing! I totally forgot about my friends and got lost in the middle of a packed sweaty dancefloor. The Dj was playing the most amazing techno I have ever heard in San Antonio much less the United States and the Bass just grabbed a hold of me and moved me all night. My girls ended up finding me and we had the time of our life! Forget all the other clubs in the city and go there. I promise you will have a blast!
The best guacamole that we have every eaten. It is made fresh by your table. Also, the Blue Crab Tacos are the best. The Tuna Margarita made with Prickly Pear Cactus juice was fantastic as well. Prices are reasonable for the River Walk ranging from $8 to $28. However, the quality of the food is worth every penny. By the way, a previous reviewer commented on the salsa's appearance. It includes roasted tomatoes, so the color is somewhat brown. However, it is delicous! We dined here twice on a recent visit to San Antonio and found that the service excelled during the lunch hour due to the lack of crowds. The second time, we had a reservation for Saturday evening and wow what a difference in the number of people and unfortunately the service due to the demand on the wait staff. We prefer the peaceful lunch over-looking the River Walk to the busy evening scene. Overall, a restaurant that shouldn't be overlooked while in downtown San Antonio.
Wow Dwag I too tried it because I had only heard good things about it then read your review. I got the chili fries and I have to tell you that chili is pretty damn good. It was canned but I didnt see any big signs promoting any "homemade" chili. I am pretty sure their burgers are what they are proud of and with reason!!! My husband got the double meat cheese burger combo and it was fabulous!!! You get a generous helping of fries also. my 2 kids got the jr combo I wouldnt call 3.50 pricey for a kids meal!! I dont think you can go anywhere else where you can get that kind quality of food for so cheap! The people were SUPER friendly when we walked in the girl behind the counter greeted us warmly and several people including the owner told us all thank you when we left. My 2 boys loved the Nascar theme but i loved the view outside the huge picture window in what the owner called "her room" We will definitely be going back for years to come!
This is the first Rainforest Cafe I have visited. When I heard my fiance, his parents and myself were going THERE for lunch I was disappointed... I thought it would be really tacky and embarassing to be there without kids... anyway, I was wrong! It was so cool inside - they don't just have decorations here and there, they go ALL OUT. It is really neat, a very cool place to eat a meal. Our waiter was a little inattentive, but the atmosphere and the food made up for it. Our portions were HUGE (even for America), and all of our food was very tasty! The aquariums inside were especially impressive... it would be a LOT of fun for a kid to go there, but it was fun for us adults as well!! Their menu is not cheap... not expensive... right in the middle... if you're looking for a fun place to enjoy a yummy lunch/dinner, go here!
I ordered online. There were two people in line when I arrived. I walked up to the counter next to the sign for online orders (I'm supposed to be able to skip the line). Then, two more customers walked in. All of the walk-in customers were helped before I was. The employee who helped me did not make sure the other employees knew I was there. I waited 15 min. after I arrived and I already got there after the website said my food would be ready. The manager paid more attention to the fry guy who was already busting his behind than the guy at the counter not doing anything. Unacceptable. I've had a few experiences like this at this location. The food's always delicious. I just wish they would put the fries in a separate bag if they're just going to dump them in. I know it's a trademark thing, but I hate it.
