I have visited this location for dinner several times but this last visit was the first time I have ever ordered dessert. I ordered their dessert minis which are strawberry cheesecake, key lime pie, and chocolate trifle. I ordered one of each and thought they were very cute when the waitress brought them out. They were all lined up in shot glass like dishes with the spoon sticking straight out. For being so small they defiantly got your attention. The Cheesecake was probably my favorite, it was nice and creamy and had a wonderful flavor in the graham cracker crust and paired with the strawberries was very delicious. It was also a nice alternative to the traditional presentation of cheesecake. The key lime pie i didn't like so much though. The flavor of the key lime was pretty spot on it was just the crust that made the dessert not what it could have been. The crust tasted as if it could have been frozen and then thawed out or like a stale vanilla wafer cookie crumble. The chocolate trifle would have been my favorite since it was for sure made for a chocolate lover like myself but the mousse that was layered in between the cake was a one-note item. It had great texture but that was about all you got from it, it needed some added flavor like a liquor or a coffee or hazelnut or something to give it something special. The chocolate cake that was in it though was very good and my favorite part of that dessert it was light and moist and had just the right amount of chocolate flavor. One thing about the cheesecake and key lime that i didn't like was the whipped cream. It tasted like it came from a can and a bit oily it was not anything like a fresh whipped cream so that is one thing i would definitely change. I had a overall great experience and minus the few set backs in the desserts i did really enjoy them. I would just suggest a few alterations and then i would most defiantly order them again.
The food had no real taste, the local in the group said as well it wasn't authentic texas food. They also elected not to warn us about the jackhammer prior to seating. Worst dining experience in a long time.

I haven't been in San Antonio in over 6 years and a buddy of mine agreed to try this place for dinner. When you walk in, the entire area looks like it has not been vacuumed in at least two days. The woman who seated us was rude and quickly told us that our waitress will be with us and walked off to talk to someone near the bar. We ordered the steak and wild mushroom flat bread, and boy was it flat. It fell apart when you tried to pick it up and the quality of the food was mediocre at best. Halfway through my coca-cola, I had the distinct pleasure of having something that was not ice go into my mouth. It looked like part of a nail, but I couldn't be sure. I got passed it and got another drink. This particular restaurant has an outside section to be able to view the RiverWalk and we witnessed over 25 pigeons, ranging from different sizes of height and weight having their way around two tables that had leftover food and plates from previous patrons who had left. It got so bad that another patron tried to get the pigeons to fly away. After 10 minutes of this and myself and others filing this, one of the waiters finally came out and tried to remove the plates. I ordered the New York 12 ounce steak and it was cooked very well. I didn't have any complaints regarding the steak, broccoli and potato. This is honestly not that bad of a place to eat, I will more than likely never eat there again just because of the issues I had when I went.
have you gone to el sol the food is very good and the waitresses are very careing especially sandy and nancy they are sisters and they take real good care of you and your guest,felipe is a man with great respect ,morals,helps on tables and communicates with his customers too,asuring all was good and if not he will correct it fast with no problem,i enjoy my meals there everyday and admire felipes hard work in keeping it going with good food and service , and like any other resturants if something is not right adress it to mr.felipe and he will take care of it,this resturant is my best place to eat anytime and who ever does,nt like it can go else where because el sol is booming in business., without your money, always pack so visit and rank or judge for yourself thank you felipe and el sol staff !!!!! angel
If you are looking for authentic Puerto Rican food, this is not the restaurant for you!! I am Puerto Rican, raised in Chicago. Their Jibarito had roast pork on it, they would not make it with steak. Their accapurias were horrible and they charged $2.50 for one. In NY or Chicago one is $.75. Their prices are way too high! These are simple dishes they are serving. The rice had little flavor I could tell they didn't use sofrito an they used little sazon. The ropa vieja was average. The cooks are Mexican. Not to say Mexicans can't cook good PR'n food but generally we season food diferently. I wouldn't get asada tacos from a restaurant that is advertised as a Puerto Rican Restaurant, hopefully you get the point! Don't go there with high expectations, especially if you are familiar with PR'n cuisine.
I come here for breakfast tacos. They usually take like 10 mins in the drive thru which I dont mind because food is usually hot and fresh. But today they had me wait at least 30mins, I drove up to go inside just for the lady to tell me the card machine is broken but that my order has been ready. I just dont understand why no one would let me know instead of wasting my time. I really like their food but its not worth waiting that long just for 4 tacos.
I went here for lunch with a large group.The restaurant looked very nice inside.I had a Bacon Swiss Burger. The burger was excellent; one of the best I’ve had in San Antonio.I did not care for the fries that came with it. They were very thin.The wait staff was very friendly and attentive.The prices are very high. Too high for me to go there more than once every few years. (If that even.)The burger was $12! Geesh.
The staff is friendly and the food is ok at best. I hate that when I order a bean n cheese to go for my son he won't eat it and when I try eating it for it not to go to waste I understand why. The beans are dry scrapes off the pan with some cheese sprinkled on it. Tortillas always look burned. I don't know if the place is clean but from the small tiny drive thru window it doesn't seem to be a clean kitchen.
We came for my birthday last night and got an unforgettable experience in exchange. We had an amazing server (King Julien) who made the night very special and very seriously deserves a raise for how well he took care of us. The food was delicious as well. My only complaint was the food was rather slow to arrive BUT they were incredibly busy so it's understandable.DEFINITELY COMING BACK!
This is THE very best Madre y Padre Mexican Food Restaurant of San Antonio. True, if you want good food and all the colorful pottery, birds squawking in your ears and a bunch of yankee gringas telling you how to order good food on the riverwalk, go there.
