I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews but our experience there was great! The man at the check-in desk was super friendly and helpful. Our room was nice, we had a king bed, tv, microwave, and refrigerator. I saw a review online that said they didn't have many channels and that their wifi didn't work but they had over 60 channels and the wifi worked great when I hooked it up to my room. Another review also said that the rooms smelled like smoke which is not true. The main hallway has somewhat of an odor of smoke to it but only because some rooms are smoking and some are not, so that makes sense. The rooms that are for smokers are next to each other and the ones for non smoking are together as well so there should not be a problem with the smell. The room was very clean,so where the sheets. I had to check them because I read reviews saying that they were stained, which again was proven to be wrong. I went there dreading my stay due to all of the negative reviews but it turned out to be great! It was comfortable and everything in downtown San Antonio was in walking distance. I will definitely be staying here next time we visit San Antonio. My advice is ignore all the negative reviews and see for yourself. It's a very good price and a comfortable stay!
We stayed at the Red Roof Inn for two nites and three days June 12th through June 15th, 2009. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful. We walked to the Alamo and also to the Riverwalk. We did not ever feel as if it was too dangerous to walk, even late at night. The underpass by the highway is lit up very bright at night and we walked back as late as midnight. The room was clean and well maintained. When we go to San Antonio again next year, we will stay at the Red Roof Inn Downtown by the Alamo again. We also were pleased with the hotel fee for our accommodations and did not feel as if we were overcharged. A great room at a great price! I will say this, I am the one who decided to make the reservations after researching other hotel rooms and also getting input from several friends in Missouri (where we are from). The reviews I read after already making reservations were not good and were very negative. After reading these reviews, was concerned but did not inform my husband of the negative reviews and I decided we would stay anyway. Today as I write this review, both my husband and I are glad this is the hotel we chose to stay in. The staff and the hotel were excellent and I would recommend it to anyone.
I travel the country for work and stay in different hotels every couple of days in different cities. I am very leery of motels that don't cost a lot of money. I chose this one because I was only in San Antonio for one night and it was closest to my destination. But I ended up staying for 4 days as my workload increased. This place impressed me. The accommodations were very clean. The staff was unbelievably personable and friendly. There was always someone making rounds keeping the place safe and clean. The parking lot was well-lit and the swimming pool was amazing. Everything I expect from a high-dollar motel I received here. The coffee was just like home. I hope whoever reading this takes my comments to heart as I am somewhat picky, and this place surpassed any expectation that I had.
This historic hotel definitely has many up sides (location near the Alamo and Riverwalk shops and plaza attractions). My family stayed here during Spring Break 2011 and we were disappointed with many things: "Mandatory" valet for $18.50 per night, cold powdered eggs for breakfast, small rooms for the $165 per night price. It's partnership with The Menger Hotel across the street allows kids to swim in a heated pool during early spring. This is a fabulous choice during off-season travel, but the staff at the Crockett does not handle capacity season well at all. Slow valet retrieval (30 mins) and terrible breakfast setup and hours (0630-0930) contributed to my review. Bottom Line: a $200 per night stay but below-average service and accommodations.
While I've always enjoyed staying at Fairfield Inns, a visit I recently had as a charter coach driver for a group of students to a state science fair in San Antonio was particularly memorable. As I believe all FIs have, this one has complimentary breakfasts. The menu items were typically good, but Rosemary, the "Breakfast Hostess" was the reason this visit will remain most memorable. Her gracious & charming personality sparkled in her eyes & smile as she [obviously] enjoyed preparing various items for her awaiting guests. She interacted joyfully with them & each was smiling in happy anticipation as she handed out the freshly prepared meals. She deserves a whole-hearted THANK YOU!!
if you don't drive a porsche or look over the age of 40, plan on getting treated like crap. My husband and I went here on our weekend getaway while he was down from Iraq and we are in our 20's, we're paying just like everyone else and the front desk staff was extremely rude to us. They let a cougar skip us and didn't say anything about it, just let her do it. I didn't say anything, but I did let them know when I checked out and now I am telling you! Everyone else in the hotel was extremely nice and very personable, even the guests! You can't beat the location and I felt very safe. The rooms are very nice and we didn't go to the bar because we had a stocked fridge :)!
I had a late check in, which I noted on my reservation I made through the Travelodge website. The woman at the counter was friendly when I got there at around 11 pm. Since I had my printed confirmation there was no problem. Yes the hotel is on the old side, but most in San Antonio are. As a woman traveling alone I felt much safer coming and going from this hotel than I did when I stayed downtown and parking was free and convenient at this hotel. The location is great, a little hard to find the first time, but convenient to the highway and lots of restaurants. Should I travel to San Antonio again I'll stay here again.
I cannot say enough kind things about the helpful and friendly staff at the travellodge. Our room was ready, clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was fresh and filling. I might add that they had a free gourmet coffee machine available 24 hrs in the lobby that was the best coffee in all of San Antonio. I really appreciated the staff going the extra mile and printing out our boarding passes for the following day. That was very helpful and they didn't have to do it. I would not think twice about staying there again or recommending it to someone else. They made you feel like family.
I stayed at this motel while in San Antonio for my cousin's graduation from Air Force basic training. It was about 5-7 min away from the base. The people at the front desk were nice and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The coffee maker, fridge, and microwave were very convenient to have in the room. Since it is right off of the freeway, there are a lot of restaurants nearby. Overall I was very satisfied with this motel and I would recommend it to someone going to Lackland for the graduation if they wouldn't mind the 5 -1-0 min drive. ..
Although the booked room for my birthday weekend was amazingly small & I was told they were all the same size, I learned from a staffer that they weren't. I returned to the front desk and was given a small suite over looking the garden. The air conditioning unit was noisy. However, it was a charming suite, the room service and dining were very good. Time spent in the lobby with piano music and holiday decor was wonderfull. And the spa on the premises was perfect. I would stay again but be very choosy about my room/suite.
