Overall

My 5 friends and I got a Groupon for a 3 hour BYOB class, and went last night (6/13/14) to do the "Cafe Terrace" painting from 7-10 pm. It was a horrible experience. The "teacher" did not really teach at all. She started painting and we were all confused at what to do; I even had to explicitly ask her to move her microphone to her mouth because we could not hear her. We continued to not be able to hear her the whole night, particularly over the loud music. After about 30 or 45 minutes one of my friends gave up on the scheduled painting due to the lack of instruction and just started painting something abstract. When the instructor saw her changed painting a few minutes later, she made a very rude comment about how "some people just cannot handle painting when they don't have their hand held." We were all appalled at her lack of customer service and also her seeming lack of teaching ability. As she walked around, I heard her at least 5 times put down different people's paintings, making them feel bad. She actually referred several painters to another one of my friends (who knows how to paint) to look at her painting and get advice on how to make theirs better, instead of just helping them herself as the teacher. The only enjoyable things about last night were my friends and the other painters (who all commented on how poor the teacher and experience were as well). I will never go there again, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
