My dog is an established patient here. Unfortunately had an accident mid pay week and I couldn't pay until Fri (this was on Tuesday) at which time I could pay the bill in full. My dog was is severe pain and unable to fully weight bear on her hind leg. When I called her vet, I was told, "nope..no money now, no doctor visit". They were 100% ok letting my dog suffer. (I do not qualify for Care Credit as I had a rollover MVA a few years ago and I'm still repairing my damaged credit from that). So, I called my sons vet, St Francis of Assisi on Potrenco, who, after hearing the issue, saw her right away and took a post dated payment for the full amount for Friday. I now have a vet who actually is in the business because of a love of animals and not $$$ as a priority. Another shocker was the amt of $$ VCA charges for meds. Gabapentin, Carprophen and Tramadol (which Sassy takes for a lumbar sacral nerve compression and arthritis) was almost $200 there. At CVS with Good RX was under $40 for all three. Plus at the new vets, I paid $50. VCA is a price gouging vet preying on your the health care of your pets. I will say Sassy's vet was caring and knowledgeable but after letting money come before care, I will never recommend them to anyone. I've been in healthcare 37 years as an RN. If I treated my patients like this, I would lose my license.

UPDATE: St Francis of Assisi found a torn ACL in Sassys right knee. She needed to be sedated to even exam and XRay her due to the massive pain she was in. She is now much more comfortable as we wait for her swelling to reside. Surgery will be within the next 2 weeks. Her pain is well controlled now as she is on adequate doses of Gabapentin and Tramadol. They had absolutely no issue waiting until Friday to charge my account. My son is very happy with them and they now have another new client. Thanks SFoA!

There is absolutely nothing Oak Hills manager can say that can excuse refusing treatment to an injured animal, especially an established client. I begged your staff to see her because of her pain but was refused numerous times. I was told to bring her in on Friday. Let her suffer for 3 days. Absolutely no compassion or empathy. Walk of shame for VCA Oak

I adopted a dog from the local shelter who was heartworm positive. The staff was very knowledgeable and professional in the treatment of my dog, and to me, the mama. As for the review of please don't go here..., that dog was probably already messed up before getting services here.

Please don't go here....

I had read a review that said these people were horrible & the owners pet came out scared to death. I figured I would try it anyway because there first visit was free. The vet tech DROPPED my dog on the way to the back. When I picked my dog up, he was so scared he wouldn't move. Once home, everytime we picked up the leash he cowered and ran and hid. What the hell did these people do to my dog?! Don't go here, don't learn the hard way like I did.
