I went to the 151 location about a week and a half ago complaining of severe pain in my stomach, nausea and vomiting... I've been woken up by these symptoms before, and it generally goes away after about 3-5 hours... This time was a little different, it was going on 8 hours and everything kept on getting worse, so my mom convinced me to go to the med clinic (it would have been more affordable than the Er)...
When I signed in and told them of my sypmtoms and at the time was 10-11 weeks pregnant, they took me back in a timely manner and got me in a room right away... of course i didnt see the doctor for another 30-45 min... they needed to get a urine sample from me before they could do anything... i couldnt go at the time so they gave me a cup of ice water to help me out... anything in my stomach came right back out, so they decided i was dehydrated and decided to pump me full of IV fluids... i am not a hard stick at all, and the staff here seemed very inexperienced and seemed unprepared for situations like this... it took them 3-4 people about 2 tries each before one of them FINALLY got the IV started...
after about an hour - hour and a half, 2 trips to the bathroom, the doctor came in, asked me of my symptoms AGAIN... i told him what they were, trying to be a little more specific, but he acted like he wasn't even paying attention (you know, nodded and gave the occasional ""uh huh"")... anyhow... after i pointlessly told him, he basically told me i had a UTI and was experiencing what they call ""morning sickness""... (you know because im almost 3 months pregnant and i have NO clue what morning sickness is like)... he tried to sound so sincere in taking care of myself, and eating crackers and whatnot, taking antacids for heartburn, which was causing my stomach pain, gave me a prescription for antibiotics and told me to drink more water... WHATEVER... i was so livid... i couldnt believe this guy... he's lucky my husband didn't tear him a new one...
when we were checking out, they asked if i felt better, i said ""NO"" and they acted surprised, that their special ""miracle"" treatment didnt work... all they could say was ""sorry, have a nice day""...
so my husband and i went home and i tried to endure the pain for another 5 hours until i just couldnt take it anymore, and had my husband take me to the ER... i registered and told them i was pregnant, they took me back right, drew labs (took them 1 stick) got samples and had me admitted... the doctor came in, went over my symptoms, assessed me told me they wanted to check on my baby... he sent me for an ultrasound of my abdomen, and when the results came back, he told me i had a severe gallbladder infection and would need to have it removed...
the next day, the med clinic called to see how i was doing, and i told them im not doing well, was still in pain, i was admitted to the hospital with cholecystitis, and scheduled to have a lap chole the next day. the lady on the phone was shocked, told she was sorry and said if i needed anything or had any questions to give them a call... all i told her was that i would never go there for anything else again, because apparently theyre not much help to begin with...

This place is terrible, I thought doctors over there
cared but I realize none of them do. I think this
place has greedy doctors that should not even
be working there. I called to get a presecription
for an asthma inhaler and the doctor said she
wouldn't see me unless I have wheezing.
So since I don't have wheezing now I can't get
my asthma inhaler. Asthma patients need to have an
asthma inhaler at all times but those people have the
nerve to turn a patient down! I think that is just evil and
cruel! It is a bad place to go to that treats people
with cruelty and brings bad things as a result.
We all should avoid this place. I do sympathize
with others that have been treated badly like me,
I hope they can find a caring doctor.

I took my 3 year old daughter to the Texas MedClinic in the Forum because she was exhibiting sudden, severe symptoms; vomiting, high fever (102-103), chills & shaking, loss of appetite, fast heartbeat, malaise, coughing. After he examined her tonsils, he proclaimed--""they dont look too bad""--he had his nurse perform a strep test. The strep test came back negative. He nonchalantly passed us off with, ""it must be a virus"". He provided no explanation, further tests, or suggestions for care or prescription medications. He spent all of 1-2 minutes with her during the entire 2-1/2 hour duration of the visit.
Her symptoms worsened throughout the afternoon, evening and early morning hours. I took her to her real MD the following morning. They were alarmed with her 103.4 temperature; raspy, wheezing chest; severe symptoms listed above. They immediately gave her a breathing treatment and stabilized her. A flu test and chest X-rays were ordered. My 3 year old baby girl ended up having the flu and pneumonia!
I told my real MD of the experience with Dr Ottmers and the Texas MedClinic. She asked me not to ever return. She advised me of the critical care and crucial hours Dr Ottmers deprived my daughter of. If you can take Tamiflu within 48 hours of showing symptoms, it can shorten the duration of the flu.
I submit this review so no other child or adult is neglected by Dr. Ottmers. I've never had a doctor not perform his job. Instead he showed blatant negligence of my daughter's health. He did not properly explain what is wrong and how to proceed. His gross negligence caused my daugther to suffer longer and more severely. I am and will continue to exhaust all avenues to ensure he is reported to every entity possible.

I have used the clinic at 1604 and Bandera a few times, and every time they were so helpful. From the moment we walked into the clinic we felt like we were important. The front desk staff were very helpful. The nurse that took our vitals was very helpful. And the doctors were great, they take the time to listen to what we had to say and showed real concern for what we were going through. Would def recommend. Plus how can you beat the fact that they fax your script where ever you want so you don't have to drop them off and then wait forever.
