Disaster. He never finished our pool even though we had paid 95% of the contract. We had to spend another 50% of the original contract value to get someone else to complete it. Have a pending lawsuit against him and he has been non-responsive. Spending good money to chase bad.... Avoid Shavano and Clyde at all cost. You get what you pay for. He is a scumbag who doesn't care. He does not know how to manage a business much less manage his cash flow. I wish we would have paid attention to the other reviews but when we asked him about them, he said they were lies. Clearly not the case!!

Our experience with Shavano Pools was a nightmare. They were punctual and got everything done quickly until we paid at gunite per the contract. Once they had their money that was the end of the progress. Our pool sat there for 6 weeks until they started working on it again. It was like pulling teeth to get anything done and it was only because we are down the road and could harass them in person that the pool was somewhat completed. The plaster has cracks and when Clyde's new plaster crew came out they even said it needed to be completely redone. Clyde has avoided us since then and we still don't even have automatic fill as promised. We get to drag out the hose anytime it needs water. We were never given instruction on how to use the equipment and eventually even received certified letters from the pool deck company that they were putting a lien on our home because Clyde never paid the bill. It was an absolute nightmare from the time we gave them their final payment which was required half way through. You live and learn but I hope no one ever goes through the nightmare that we did.

Avoid Shavano Pools! We saw Shavano Pools at the Parade of Homes and thought they would be a reputable pool builder. This is not the case. They used to build a lot of pools in San Antonio when they were associated with a few builders, but now are down to a bare bones operation. We started construction over a year ago and still do not have a completed pool. The owner, Clyde Toscano, has stalled and stalled after getting paid as per the contract. He has high employee turnover, hires under qualified cheaper trades during construction, and does not follow through on his word. We are extremely disappointed, especially after seeing many of our neighbors swimming in beautiful pools from other companies that were started well after ours. I cannot stress enough how much you should choose a pool company other than Shavano Pools and Clyde Toscano.

outstanding work, and people to work with!

My headline speaks for its self! I find it funny if Clyde and Patty were so bad then why is the company still going strong? never been on the news before unlike the others. Thanks again Clyde!

Great Job

Shavano Pools built my pool in 2006. I have been extremely satisfied over the years with their quality, service and their honesty. If I ever have another pool built, it will definitely be a Shavano Pool.

Do I have to give 1 star?

80% of the work was done by sub contractors. This may be OK, if they were watched by the pool company. We've had countless items stolen from out back yard by subcontractors Shavano Pool hired.
Shavano's response is 'our hands are tied'...unacceptable.

OK Pool design. They didn't offer much input and seemed to be clueless..
Terriable quality of work. They used cinder blocks to construct a raised wall. (the proper way to build a raised wall is to built it with the structure of the pool in gunnite).

Flagstone work was HORRIBLE.

Clyde, Jonathan, and Patty are completely incompetent.

Clyde and Jonathan are nice enough at first.
Fairly good design, but as soon as gunnite is put in they are no where to be found.

It was like pulling teeth to get them to come out and finish the job.

I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

Lack of professionalism, craftmanship, and zero customer service focus.

I would have paid the extra 2k to get a Gary pool in a heartbeat.

Well Done

My parents used this company about 7 or 8 years ago and had a great experience with them so my husband and I called them to build our pool. The salesman Jonathan was great and personable. Construction never goes as planned, but Jonathan worked very hard to make it as smooth as possible. My parents have had no problems with their pool and I am confident we will have the same results. I have referred both of our neighbors to them. Thanks for the hard work and coming out to our house late at night and on weekends!

Worst Pool Builder in San Antonio

I was told the pool would take between 10 -12 weeks to complete. It took 9 months to see water in our pool. That’s if you don't count the downpour we had 3 hours after the gunite was shot in. He collects 95% of the money when you think they are really doing serious work. That is when things slow to a snail’s pace. The receptionist runs interference for Clyde. Clyde rarely returns phone calls. Our patio was poured after dark which resulted in uneven colored concrete and many imperfections. They poured our large patio in the dark with the use of one little shop light. Warranty work was not covered because we refused final payment. One of their subcontractors backed over our stone mailbox and it was up to us to get and pay for the stone to replace it. Overall this was a miserable experience. Did I have to put a star up?? If I had it to do over again I would spend the extra money and hire professionals. For the record, subs do the plaster, electric, and gunite. I should start a pool business next ;-)

Excellent Design, Price, and Construction

We checked out over 6 custom builders and were blown off by several. Shavano Pools came out and drew a layout that matched our yard exactly. They then created a custom pool to wrap around our trees and house. The construction was always on time and never had any issues with workmen. They were polite and respectful of my property. Since the product was completed, the owner personally came out to make sure we knew how to upkeep the pool and equipment. Highly recommend them!!!

Poor customer service after the sale.

Pool was built 3 years ago. When I call for service, their receptionist is always rude. Even told me once my issues were not a priority.

During the construction I did not pay them according to their draw plan. Who would agree to pay for 90% when only 50% of the work had been done.

I would not recommend them, keep looking, get referrals.

Avoid it!

Price was great. Pool still not finished 4 months after the origan tentative date to finish! Design was great; quality borderline. Very difficult to get them out to finish the work. Have asked my builder to stop recommending them as I would not want anyone else to go through what we have gone through. Dont expect to have a rapid response for repairs! I wish someone would have warned us!

Take your money elsewhere.

Great for design, LOUSY for service. It's all about a big push to get to rebar (by which point you've paid 90% of the total eventual cost) and then you have to beg or holler to have the project finished. As for service after the sale, forget about it - they've moved on to some other fool.
