My fist time and will be my last. Service was horrible & the food. I had the tortilla soup it was cold. I wasn't going to send it back, cuz it might of taken them a hour to get it back. My other friend got barbacoa tacos they had no flavor. We had to ask for salsa and a spoon which we never got. I could go on and on.but this is like the white version of panchitos compared to the one on zarzamora. Way different food it's like day and night. If you want real awesome food. Go to the one on zarzamora. This place was a joke SMH

"" We don't EVER take Reservations!""

Mr. and Mrs. Reyes; What a shame! I read about your restaurant and really felt that you valued ""family"" and tradition, So what better place to have a breakfast gathering for our family.I attempted to reserve the party room on a Sunday for a group of 30 people, was told that they NEVER reserve the room but will likely allow us to have the room if we came on time. I even offered to place a monetary deposit, as it was going to be an important family function. We arrived, the whole party, at 10:30 am sharp, only to be told that a party of 17 guests were seated already in the room. What turned out to be"" just 10 more minutes"" turned into an hour. The hostess never approached us to even make contact with us to let us know that they were at least working on it. A third of our guests had to leave before we were even seated. Guess when you have a constant stream of business it doesn't matter to go above and beyond to attend to a large group. So what if we never come back, they still have their regulars to count on! So much for Customer Excellence! Remember, at some point you will alienate enough people that your business will eventually suffer.Guess next time we will go to another retaurant that appreciates large groups.

Nightmarish.

I had my first experience with Panchito's a couple weekends ago. Sunday breakfast. I am still having panic-inducing flashbacks. We ordered Huevos Rancheros, and it came out looking like someone had peed all over it. I bravely attempted to fold some of the watery mix into one of their foul, storebought tortillas, and what did I find? The eggs, which I had ordered over medium, were RAW. Not undercooked, not over easy, not rare, Raw. Quivery mucus. Oh, and the service was nonexistent, and we had to wait. Why? Why is there a wait at this place? Why do San Antonians like to eat bland vomitus?

Worst Mexican Food

Service, slow. Margaritas overpriced and make with mix.. Food, let's say more was left on the plate than we ate. This is as bad as Mexican Food gets!

Avoid breakfast, customer service not that great.

The breakfast is terrible! I have eaten there for breakfast like 3 times on my way to school. I should have learned my lesson the first time. The taco's are tasteless, cold and non-authentic. I went for dinner one time and we got horrible service. I will not go back ever again. The atmosphere is nice though, maybe just to go on a date for a few drinks.

Great Value, Authentic (Delicious!) Tex Mex, Competent Service, Tidy and Simple

Do not mistake this location for the others. There is no comparison. I have been going here since 2001 and have never been disappointed (or when I have, I was taken care of). Anyone I've ever introduced to the McCullough location has gone back repeatedly and invited others.

Now, I always order the Enchiladas de Queso with double rice (I don't like beans). I've also had the grilled fajitas (marinated expertly) and the caldo. All very delicious. Oh my God, don't even get me started on the tortillas; both flour and especially corn are delicious, great for wiping your plate clean. The Margaritas are good (not great, but good). This is great Tex-Mex food that appeals to even Mexican nationals (my friends from Monterrey love it). When I feel like staying home but hosting a nice meal I order take-out and I'm never disappointed.

Simple, unpretentious, tidy, and a surprisingly great value in Olmos Park. It gets PACKED so be prepared to wait (but don't go elsewhere until you've tried this place at least once, because then you'll be one of the patrons who helps to pack the place). Also, don't be turned off my the hoity toity address; this is down home Tex-Mex. You might see a Trinity faculty member at one table, and an AC tech eating with his kids at the next.

Avoid

On the last visit to the West Ave location, there was one particularly insulting waiter. As food is no better than average, I won't be returning to be insulted again.

great tacos, fun on Friday

The best advice I can give a first timer at Panchito's is plan ahead. Get there early, your dining experience will be better off. Friday's are the best because they have awesome drink specials and a very enjoyable musician playing random music while you dine. Try the bacon wrapped shrimp plate, pricey but very delectable! Also the Olmos Tacos are very different and tastey.

breakfast not good

I ate at Panchito's located on Mccullough street on March 23rd 2006 at approximately 6:20 am. I did not like the salsa, which is brought out to you with chips, it tasted like it was from the jar. The taco's were cold and they didn't taste fresh.
Aside from the breakfast, I had already eaten there for dinner, and the dinner is amazing. The food quality is better for dinner, in my opinion they should not serve breakfast until they learn a little bit more.

Frequent Customer

I am a frequent customer at Panchitos even when they were located at the small building around the corner. My favorite is the Carnitas plate, and most my friends order the same when we meet at Panchitos for lunch during the week. This place is so popular that we try to meet about 11:30 am or after 1:00 pm for lunch. Service is always great and they are attentive and the food is served timely. I have tried many other plates including breakfast and the plates are all huge and taste fantastic. I always leave satisfied and full.

SA's best-kept secret

Great flour tortillas. Solid food at a reasonable price.

This is one place we SA residents need to keep quiet about -- we've got to keep some of our outstanding places to ourselves.

Bad Service

I am from out of town and ate once at Panchitos Rest. once. I thought the food was great. However, the service I have received in trying to book a party for two weeks after calling long distance fell upon deaf ears. I call every two days, long distance and unfortuntately, the date I had tried to reserve to show off one of San Antonio's restaurant was now not available. If I had receive mediocre response, perhaps I could have been successful in bringing 200 out of town guests to San Antonio and boast about the food. The service in obtaining information was dissatisfactory, I will take my business elsewhere. The wrong people work for this place. Even the managers attitude is off key. Good luck in boasting your success, but never count on me going there again. A fast food chain is better in responding to request. -Houston, TX

Greatest Tex-Mex Breakfast in San Antone

Come and sit down for a cheap and great breakfast at Panchitos. Their tacos range from a buck to two bucks and 2 to 3 will easily fill you up. Their migas are second to no one. I eat here 50 or 60 times a year as my gut will testify. What really makes their tacos so great are the freshly made steaming hot tortillas. Come and try it out, spend nothing, and leave full.
