Overall

Had my surgery and when i called up there to talk to my doctor they told me he was no longer there and i had a new doctor. I never got any information i was going to be switching doctor or that my doctor was no longer going to be available. So i dusted it off my shoulders stayed with there office but i have noticed Very poor service dealing with phone calls. You would think since they are a Neurosurgical doctor they would get back to their patients asap. Nope, I called three weeks ago and again last week and have still not yet got a call back. I am going to call again today and leave another voicemail but i just dont know why they are not responding fast enough. I love my doctor but wish they would get back with you sooner.

Best Neurosurgeon in Texas (maybe the world)

I suffered with a back problem (sciatic nerve) for several months. The pain was so intense I could not walk 30 feet without having to stop, bend forward and rest for a couple of minutes before continuing. I could not sleep in a bed. I slept in a overstuffed chair as that was the only way I could get any kind of pain relief. I slept less than 3 hours a night. I had three injections of steriods but they had not effect. My family doctor, Dr Ralph Wells and Dr James Wiliams, radiologist, both recommended Dr Donald Hilton. Dr Williams saw something on my MRI that looked like a piece of disc that fragmented and was pressing against the sciatic nerve and causing all the pain. I visited with Dr Hilton and was very impressed. We went over the MRI and he said that I was a perfect canidate for the for his procedure and on September 5, 2007 I had my surgery. Less than 4 hours after surgery I walked out of the hospital nearly pain free. Only the incision site was sore. Now 5 days later I am feeling great and I have not taken any pain killers. None, and I was taking vicodin like a druggie before surgery and still had the pain. If you have back problems that you have been living with for months or even years, trust me, make an appointment with Dr Hilton and let him determine if surgery is necessary. If you have questions, please e-mail me and I will be glad to give you all the details. I am sixty eight years old and I feel great and I want others to learn from my experience and ease their mind about arthoscopic surgery. Get you life back! I did.

NeuroSurgeon Needed Look No Further

I am a 32 yr old female w/ lumbar disc degeneration. I tried for multiple strains, years, and non-evasive procedures to overcome the pain, but the last back strain that put me out of commission and 12 weeks of work had me at no other point but surgery. With todays advances and Dr. Fichtel's explanation and website I felt very comfortable going into my procedure, Microscopic Diskectomy. It was performed on an outpatient basis and immediately alleviated me of my back pain. I have had to recover in other ways due to the deterioration of the muscles that I had to work back into shape and am still working very hard at my physical therapy, but I know bcse of his help I am on my way finally to recovery, whereas I have been so limited for so many years. His follow-up appointments have proved him to be a very attentive physician and he did not just write me off after the procedure when I was having some other difficulties. I am very greatful to have found and utilized him.

Excellent neurosurgeon, good bed side manner, explains questions, very, very good

Excellent experience with this neurosurgeon. His office staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and clients flow through the office as they should. Dr Swann is an excellent surgeon, had excellent ""bedside"" manner with his patients. Very patient in answering all the questions I had on options, what would happen if no surgery, etc. He was great. Great follow up in hospital with family, and during my entire recovery
