If there was a negative star, I would give it to them!! Unprofessional and lack integrity! They called me and cancelled for my daughter less than 24 hours before my appointment! They have all of these rules of conduct for clients, but I guess they do whatever THEY want to do! My stylist was also 30 minutes late for the appointment the week before! This owner put a lot into her website, but everything else is lacking: customer service and the look of the salon!! This place is not professional...don't waste your money!!
Only go if you have a spare 5 hours on your hands. They must book the appointments 15 minutes apart because, you will arrive for a 10:30am appointment and not be able to leave before 5pm. The worst of it is, most people pay money to spend time with their stylist... here you spend most of your time with the other people who are waiting hours as well as the "understudy". Then they still want to charge you full price. Boo to that! I've been seeing Melvin and he is nice and so is his understudy, but of your 5 hour visit I'd probably say that I spend less than 30 minutes with Melvin. So, only go IF you have a spare 5 hours, bring a lunch, and a computer so you can watch movies while you wait. I gotta find a new place ASAP. Need to change business name from Mane and Glory to Hurry up and wait.

I recently moved to San Antonio and was in fear of not being about to find a salon. Back a home I had a specific person for everything I wanted done (micros, sew ins, nails, toes, eye brows) It's a challenge getting comfortable and learning the city. Most places here cater to the hispanic race. I decided to do a google search for "black hair salons". Mane and Glory immediately grabbed my attention before others due to their website being so informative and showing pictures of their work. I was impressed. After my first visit I decided that this is where I will be getting my hair done as long as I'm in San Antonio! My hair came out beautiful. LOVE IT!
I love Mane and Glory!! They do such a fabulous job with my hair. I am in the process of going natural and I am not the person to wear it looking natural so they get it straight without the chemicals. I wasn't going to go natural but the transition has been so easy because of them. I have been getting my hair done there for over a year now and I don't know what I would do without them. If you live in San Antonio or visit San Antonio go over to Mane and Glory and get your hair done.
Let your "Hair-do" the Talking!
Ladies, I can;t say enough about Terre Wafford and the Mane and Glory team of professional stylists who take pleasure in reviving hair that has been dyed, fried, and laid to the side to break off and leave you with an unmanageable hot mess. I was one who was addicted to relaxers "hair-crack" until Terre and team gave me the Ceramic Phusion treatment. I used to relax literally every five weeks for that bone straight look i thought was the way to go. Happily I am relaxer free for almost three years and am never going back. My hair has bounce, body, and length like never before. Black hair can and will grow if you treat it properly...not you but the professionals at Mane and Glory. Make an appointment today. You will never regret going natural...an yes you can wear it straight. Trust me it looks like relaxed hair without the relaxer. Valarie Fluellen
When it's Hottt, it's Hottt!! Mane & Glory is the spot to be especially if you want healthy, chemical free hair. The growth and strength of my hair is amazing still to me. The Mane & Glory staff offer and friendly, educational environment. They give you the education to be able to maintain your own healthy hair, even in the windy state of Idaho. Terri and her stylist have swept SA with the ceramic phusion process constantly producing happy, healthy haired customers and all without the use of the "creamy crack". Thanks Mane & Glory for laughs, the best conversations, Melvin (my stylist), my healthy hair, the free H2O and WiFi, last but not least my healthy mane and the education to maintain it.
After moving from GA to TX in 2009, I was in desperate need of an educated stylist who could promote healthy hair and offer a skill set for clients wanting to transition from relaxed hair to natural and was blessed to find M&G and my stylist Melvin Walker!
My initial consultation was informative and timely. At the time, I had blond highlights and shoulder length hair. I wanted to keep my length during the transition process and was able to do so by establishing a weekly shampoo & steam routine.
Three years later, I am loving my natural texture and weekly shampoo, steam and flat iron routine! Although I have cut my hair and went with a short crop, my hair has grown back and is healthier than ever. I now rock a semi perm red rinse, I love and have maintained for the past year. We all know red is a high maintenance color, however the products the shampoo techs use help my color to last only requiring color touch ups every other month which is great for someone with a weekly shampoos conditioning / flat iron routine!
I am a weekend client who travels often and appreciates the ability to make a appointment on line, call in for a last minute appointment or get 'worked in' to a busy day full scheduled. The M&G team is fun, outgoing, personal and educated. I always have and enjoy the music selection, movies or news on the flat screen or having lunch or dinner with other clients and or staff in the break room if and when I have to wait for my services.
Not to mention, the M&G team collaborates and doesn't mind do what ever is necessary to make you feel comfortable. I appreciate the level of education all the stylists have, which has allowed me to comfortably try schedule appointments with all the stylists whenever Melvin is unavailable! That, in itself speaks volumes....
The salon offers Design Essential products and the best styling tools out there for at home maintenance. Clients are offered the payment option of using your credit or debit card for a small fee and booking on line and paying an on line deposit. The atmosphere is friendly and the facility offers complimentary bottled water and Wi-Fi.
Please check out the salon for yourself and view the hair gallery at http://manenglory.com to see pics of clients like myself with natural hair. For those with an active lifestyle and rocking a natural texture with no desire to establish a hair straightening routine like myself please consider the braid specialist also located in the salon.

Where is ""Tabitha's Salon Takeover"" when you need it?! It is apparent that Mane and Glory is on the cusp of greatness, but is in need of a major overhaul! My service, shampoo, steam treatment and ceramic phusion on natural hair, should have taken a maximum of 2.5 hours. I WAS IN THAT SALON FOR 5 HOURS and I had an 1.5 hr WAIT UNTIL I WAS SAT AT THE SHAMPOO BOWL. I stayed only because I had an event to attend the next day. However, I did miss my class due to the salon's lack of time management. Another customer was in the salon from 11:30 am to 9 pm! Her stylist was so behind that she called her husband to bring their daughter to the salon to get her hair styled as well. No water, no food, for far too long!!!!!!!! Black salons are known for this type of inconsideration, but I have never given my business to such an establishment, until now.
Two hours after I checked in, I received an apology from the receptionist that they were short staffed. I should have been told that crucial piece of information when I checked in and then I could have made an informed decision to stay or leave.
I made my appointment online and was pleased that Mane and Glory appeared to be a progressive establishment. The online booking system gives an option for ""new client,"" which I selected. This should have immediately flagged me in the system and notified the stylist. I had questions about my hair damage and only saw the stylist when I made a request while at the shampoo bowl (2 hours after checking in). I should have seen the stylist first for at least 5 minutes. It's just that simple. She acted as if her only job is to style hair. WRONG ANSWER! A stylist's job is to partner with clients to create a win-win dynamic by sincerely asking/answering hair questions, educating clients and styling hair. My stylist was not interested in having a basic conversation about my hair and giving helpful feedback/solutions. She was more concerned with talking to co-workers, treating her clients like cattle, checking off a list and getting everyone in and out of the salon.
DECOR: Not as polished as I thought it would be; Unfinished floors; improper seating for hair steamers (a grown woman should not have to ""climb"" on top of pillows and balance in position to use a hair steamer)
STAFF: Not knowledgeable about products that harm natural hair (i.e. parabans, sulfate), simple tricks like using cold water to close the hair cuticle in order to banish fly away hair, and does not explain processes to new clients who are trying new services for the first time.
PROS: I was not drenched in water at the shampoo bowl, steam treatment results, and the look/feel of my hair as I walked out of the door.

I am natural and usually keep my hair in braids. My edges were looking horrible indicating that I needed to give my hair a break. I wanted to relax my hair because I didn't know how I would manage while in army uniform. I decided to book an appointment with Mane and Glory upon a recommendation from a classmate in IPAP. I was a little hesitant because of the one bad review but I was willing to give the shop a try.
My worries were certainly needless! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist, Pepper. She saw my hair and instantly informed me of another option besides the relaxer, a ceramic phusion. This option allows me to have straight hair or revert back to natural if I desired! I was still skeptical and she offered me a discount on a relaxer if I decided I did not want to keep getting a ceramic phusion. So I agreed.
The shop was very clean, comfortable and very stylish. All of the stylists were friendly and professional. I was included in their conversations, even though they did not know me. I was also educated about my hair the entire time. My stylist, Lisa, changed my Celie (from Color Purple) hair to a bouncy, shining, low maintenance hair style! I was VERY impressed and I intend on coming back regularly. This will be especially true when they start offering eyelash extensions!
Kudos to Mane and Glory!

I am a Cosmetology Instructor and I have been getting my hair done at Mane & Glory for a few months now and the experience has been exceptional. My hair is 100% natural and after I walk out of Mane & Glory several people of all ethnicity want to know how my hair is so shiny, healthy, and full of life. My husband cant keep his hands out of my hair after I get it done. ( Everyone knows thats a no no :} )
I have had my hair styled by Terre and Melvin and they both do an awesome job. I worried about not fitting in because they have so many regulars but when I am there they include me in there ""debate of the day"" and they keep me laughing and smiling the whole time I am there. Terre also has other stylist there like Sybil and they are awesome too.
For the ladies who had a bad experience I am sorry but that just leaves a slot open for me to get in and get my hair styled by a professional and friendly staff. From the time I walk in, to the shampoo bowl, to the styling chair, and out the door I am welcomed and invited back.
Thank You Terre, Melvin, Sybil, Peppa, and staff of Mane & Glory for making me feel beautiful.

Terre and the entire Mane and Glory staff are wonderful. I did not mind having a week-day appointment, but I definitely plan on being one of the 'regulars'. She is patient and works on maintaining healthy hair, incorporating the latest hairstyles. I was welcomed immediately and enjoyed the salon's 'debate of the day':) Terre is professional, patient and is good at what she does. I give this salon five stars!
Not sure what the complaints on decor were, but the salon was immaculate, tasteful and calming. Anyone from TX knows there are some bad areas in every city and this is not even close to being one of them.

I have been going to Terre for years she is in deed very professional, friendly, and has prefected her craft. Terre is current with the latest styles and techniques needed to maintain healthy hair. Yes, it is true that Terre is currently the only stylist in her salon at this present time, so due to this and respect for her clients she does not double/over book her clients. So, if you are business minded you will know that you cannot give everyone a Saturday appointment. As the previous writer stated if you want to receive a great hair style in a relaxing environment Terre is the stylist for you. However, if you need a psychologist you might need to shop around because she does not specialize in that area. Love your work Terre.

I was actually a client a few months ago. I had just moved here to San Antonio, and someone recommended me to this salon Mane & Glory. I thought I would try it, but was shocked to see that there was only one stylist, and she didn't accept Saturday appointments. That should have been my first red flag. I was told on ""regulars"" could have a Saturday appointment, which was unusual for a salon? I scheduled anyway against my better judgment. When I got there, I was shocked by the poor decor, and ""attitude"" of the stylist Terry. I tried to engage in a little conversation with her, and was verbally attacked regarding my views on San Antonio people, and the city. She was very rude, and boisterous. I was so upset at her demeanor; I purposely booked another appointment with her, and just didn't show up. I WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a classy, upscale, FRIENDLY, accommodating, safe salon. It is located in a strip mall, on a bad side of town. DO NOT GO if you value a good salon experience. I would have to agree with the first ladies posting here.

This salon was recommended to me by a friend. I was actually in town visiting a few weeks ago and needed to have my hair cut and styled for an event. This was a bit unnerving for me because I was taking a friend's word and really did not have room for any errors. Well, my initial thoughts were unmerited. WOW!!! I was so impressed with the quality of work!!! My husband could not stop complimenting me. Needless to say that whenever I return to San Antonio I will visit Mane and Glory. Thank you so much Terre for taking good care of me. God bless you and your career. You are a true talent!

If you only care about getting a nice hairdo, then this is the place. There is only one lady there that styles hair, and she has SERIOUS attitude, and is very unpleasant to be under. Her work is good, but it's not worth being uncomfortable. You would like to have decent, if not a fun converstation with your stylist (it makes the time go by), and if you don't have that...then you might as well do your own hair at home! The main stylist is a short, fiesty, snappy, defensive, firecracker with no personalisty. Other than that of ""hood girl"". The salon is very poorly/cheaply decorated with no energy at all! Again...if you want a decent hairstyle, then she (Terry) is your girl. If you want an energetic, friendly, welcoming, warm, up-to-date, and variety of stylist- - This is NOT the place.
The last ""kicker""...get this: She (Terry) doesn't offer Saturday appointments UNLESS you are one of her regulars! Can you believe that? What stylist would not want to aquire more-new clients by restricting them to ""weekday only "" appointments? Talk about arrogant and full of one self! I could see if this was a fancy, upscale salon, but it's in a strip mall, next to a liquor store for goodness sake! ""Only my regulars can come on Satuday's..."". Nice way to run a salon and accomodate your clients (when Saturday is the most common day for salon service).
Good Luck and I hope my review helped!
