We came for my birthday last night and got an unforgettable experience in exchange. We had an amazing server (King Julien) who made the night very special and very seriously deserves a raise for how well he took care of us. The food was delicious as well.
My only complaint was the food was rather slow to arrive BUT they were incredibly busy so it's understandable.
DEFINITELY COMING BACK!
My husband, son, nephew, and I ate there for lunch on our way back home and had a pleasant experience. The salad bar was good.....the burger and fries were average......the pizza was not so good! Our waitress was very strange.....we never even knew who she was suppose to be! She didnt chanrge us for any of our drinks or our cheesecake! Guess it was her little way of making some extra tip money......but we would certainly go back!

Avoid this restaurant. It is in a terrible part of town with theft and break-in issues. Our vehicle was broken in to in broad daylight 6 car spots over from the front door. When we went inside to have the restaurant call the police, we were told that this is something that happens all the time and that we couldn't use the phone. When I inquired of the manager whether or not they had video surveillance in the lot, we were told no, that it was too expensive for them. They like to have the SAPD in the lot and restaurant for just these types of occurrences. If we had know any of this, we certainly would have chosen a restaurant in a nicer part of town.

I had seen the place for years and always wanted to go. A group of my girlfriends and I decided to go and celebrate one of our birthdays there finally! Best decision ever! We have been back as a group for every birthday since then! and a few times just to go! The prices are a little high, but u get a ton of food! Order one plate and share! We dont eat much when we go anyway! We go for the atmosphere! Captain Jack, Ace Ventura, Poison Ivy, The Joker, Zorro, they all know us by name and treat us like friends and family when we go in! I HIGHLY reccomend the place if you want to go somewhere to have FUN! you are sure to walk away with a smile every time!

We are from Austin and have driven by the Magic Time Machine for years on our way through San Antonio. We finally made a special trip even after reading the reviews. The food was terrible except for the bread. The bread was really good. We were lucky to get Captain Jack Sparrow. He was the best part of the night. If not for him the enitre night would have been a disaster. We decided if we ever go back we will only go for desert. Do not eat the food. Overpriced.

I've lived and dined in SA for 62 years and visited MTM often, with years in between. Last time, my husband, another couple and I went to hear a group playing in the bar on a Friday night. We went early so we could eat before hand, but the wait to get a table in the restaurant was long. We asked if we could eat in the bar, and they were SO accomodating. My husband and I each had prime rib, and it was WONDERFUL! The service was great, attentive but not too much, and very polite and fun. I'll be back soon.

My gf and daughter and I stopped by on a Sunday a couple of weekends ago and had a great experience. Tinkerbell(Crystal) was our waitress...she was very entertaining for our 4 year old as well as ourselves. Service was fast and Tinkerbell was fun and funny and definitely not hard on the eyes. Its definitely a great place for special occasions but also just for a change of pace and some interactive service/entertainment I would definitely recommend it.

I went to the Magic Time Machine in San Antonio to celebrate the victory of my daughter's cheerleading squad, and they had the grosses food ever. I ordered ribs and chicken combo and the chicken still had blood in it, That was so gross, then the fries were cold. This place is so over priced.I had viewed the remarks before I went , and I thought people were excigerating, but it is true. After we had gone and wasted all that money, we didn't eat were hungry and went to Mc Donald's. Waste of money in that place and to top it off, as soon you walk in it smell like a dirty old bar,my family and I weren't comfertable at all.

Pretty poor overall... like most of the reviews say, if you're 12 you'll probably love it. If you've entered adulthood and no longer need your waiters to be costumed characters, consider someplace else. I'll eat just about anything, but even I barely touched the Chicken Parm. The chicken was obviously bought with grill marks already on it, the pasta was terrible and the sauce came from a jar. I even found a bone in my boneless chicken breast. We went there on the recommendation of two of my wife's coworkers... Definately overpriced for what you get. I can't even remember the last time I went to a restaurant with a salad bar. Bottom line, grow up and go to one of the thousand excellent restaurants in San Antonio.

Our car was broken into- despite all of the signs in the parking lot that say there is video surveillance. There is none. When we went inside to inform the manager that our car had been broken in to, she informed us that the police USUALLY get there quickly. The restaurant offered not an apology when we contacted the corp. office, and the manager was happy to act like nothing happened. There are no windows to view outside of this restaurant, and the thieves have figured that out.
The food is overpriced, and the atmosphere is not as good as the one in Dallas. I would suggest going to the Rainforest Cafe if you want overpriced food with a fun atmosphere.

I was visiting San Antonio this weekend and as we drove down the feeder a mile or so from our hotel, I saw the restaurant. I had been here probably 15 years ago, and loved it, so I told my friends about it and we decided to go. We had so much fun! Rufio was our server, and he was great! The food was no more expensive than any other sit down restaurant, and it was delicious.
This is a theme restaurant and if you don't have a sense of humor or are in a hurry to get in and get out, this probably isn't the place for you. We were there for probably 2 hours because we were having so much fun. Some in my party even asked to use the restroom, just to be paraded around. Its funny, its loud, its obnoxious, and its one of the best times we had on our visit to San Antonio!

Although it seemed promising as a fun place to go with family and friends, and something different- it was a terrible experience! Although it took a 1/2 hour to be seated, we waited 2 HOURS to get our food. The table next to us ordered at the same time, and were packing up to leave and we were still sitting there. Instead of acknowledging confusion in the kitchen or ticket, our waitress (Miss Swan) made awkward eye contact with us and chose to ignore our table. The food was horrible and so overpriced! Not one apology or explanation from the waitress or the manager, instead just a sarcastic ""I'm not the one in the kitchen"" from Miss Swan...not the best time to stay in inappropriately rude character.

My husband and I took our two kids back in 2008. The place was very interesting looking. But the food was terrible. We thought it was just a bad cook. So we tried giving it another chance in March. The food ended up being sooo bad our oldest (who will eat anything) said she wasn't hungry. We knew then that it wasn't just us that thought the food sucked. We were all sick on the way home. Only eat here if you have no taste buds. Even the drinks were horrible.
Atmosphere cool, staff was funny and kept in character. But the food ruined the whole expereince. Nothing appetizing about this place at all.

Magic Time Machine was terrible! Thank god we had a 25 gift certificate from resteraunt.(dot com)or it would have been a complete waste of money! The food was overpriced and disgusting. My shrimp was hard and had the consistency of freezer burned chicken. The place was OMG filthy. My poor husband desperatley had to use the bathroom but held it becuase he did not want to be embarrassed by the staff screaming 911 potty emergency at the top of their lungs! If you go here dont make my mistake and wear shorts, the benches are dirty and gross! This is a definate DO NOT RECOMMEND!

My 9 year old daughter, husband and I went when we first came to San Antonio. We were staying at a nearby hotel. The idea of the place was nice, I can kind of see where the owner was heading...it did need a good scrubbing though. I wasn't sure what to think when my daughter said she could see Thelma's underwear (she was in the kitchen adjusting herself). The food was overpriced and terrible. My husband and I left hungry. My daughter thought it was cool, but like I said she is 9. We saw people that had to use the restroom and the staff seemed to delight in embarassing them...they yelled out crude rhymes as they showed the way to the bathrooms. We decided to hold it.
It was nice to visit once, but I don't think we'll be going back any time soon. Very expensive for what you get.
