I went to Lone Star Cafe in Atlanta on a business trip and thought it was amazing so I wanted to show my husband how good it was. We went to the Lone Star Cafe on Riverwalk in San Antonio.
The hostess was in such a hurry we lost her on the way to our table I had to ask a waiter that was walking by where she sat us. We found the table with two menus so assumed that was our table. I ordered my favorite, the Salmon which I had also ordered in Atlanta. When they brought the food to our table they left so fast we weren't able to tell them we wanted more drinks and they didn't ask, they disappeared, I guess with the hostess. When my food came, the rice and vegetables were cold. They got even colder with the fan that was right above our table and I couldn't eat any of it, it was horrible, the salmon was dry and tough. The waiter never came back to our table to see if we needed anything. I was very disappointed.
Been to the Lone Star a few times over the years. It has been fairly good in the past. But, this time was a disapointment. My wife's steak was inedible. Tough and full of gristle. My ribs were OK other than beeing 25 percent fat and and 30 percent overpriced. Waiter never came back to see how we were enjoying our meal. we won't be back. We have had much better meals at other places for a lot less money. The Riverwalk atmosphere isn't worth the extra cost.

I was in beautiful San Antonio recently on a symposium and decided I had to visit its beautiful riverwalk. The Lone Star Cafe was the first restaurant I came up to and the hostess was extremely friendly and warm. I decided to take a chance. Big Mistake. The food was cold, sub par and the service was, well to be fair, thay appeared to loath being there. No one smiled, or even looked happy at all. My drink wasnt refilled, and the bar prices were off the charts. I tried to speak to a manger, but the poor soul looked too stressed out and wasnt very coherent. He himself was greasy with sweat. I know Lone Star doesnt try to be anything that it isnt, its a good place if you're low on cash and want to be left alone, but I wish waiters didnt look miserable.
