Holly and Tony will hard to try to please you: Really, I was shocked by the other review posted online, because I (and hundreds of other Alamo Heights regulars) have been going to Holly for about six years now and have been impressed. If you want the BEST pedicure, ask for Tony. But, as with anything, be direct about what you like and how you want things done -- for example, I have natural nails, so I have to ask for them not to cute my cuticles back, just clean them up and trim overgrowth, since, like most nail techs these days, they are used to just fake nails and fills and I like mine very natural.
I can only think that the other writer got her feelings hurt or was offended by the all-Vietnamese staff at Holly's. The salon has a devoted following of the city's well-heeled for a reason. Great pedicure in a wonderful relaxing massage chair. Like any other service, it requires communication.
Holly's is pricier than many others, but they do give detailed service, they take their time, and they have an autoclave for sterilizing tools on site. Kudos.

I'm used to getting good service at nail salons. The language barrier can be a bit hard to translate at first but most salons have a good understanding of salon English. This was the first time I had visited Holly's and this will be the last. I was treated rudely and ended up leaving in tears. They abused my legs during the pedicure and had to fix my nails 3 times. In the process of screwing up my nails one of the techs assumed I was pregnant because I wanted to stand while he was fixing my nails. If I was pregnant I wouldn't be inhaling the fumes from a nail salon. To top it off I was charged $80 for the whole process. You're better off doing your nails at home than going to this wreck of a place.
