Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
His other clinical interests include distal radius fractures, thumb (CMC or basal joint) arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, dequervain's (first dorsal compartment) tendonitis, hand, elbow and shoulder fractures, the treatment of difficult extremity malunions and nonunions with the use of vascularized bone grafts (free fibula or medial femoral condyle, etc.), distal biceps tendon ruptures, and peripheral nerve injuries including brachial plexopathies.

General Surgery
Dr. David W. Person was born in Rochester, Minnesota. Before his third birthday, his family moved to Houston. After matriculating from Bellaire High School, he headed to The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated magna cum laude in biology. He next moved to Dallas to study medicine at Southwestern Medical School on a military scholarship. It was in Dallas that he met and married his wife Suzanne. They moved to San Antonio where Dr. Person took his internship and residency in general surgery at the famed Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). In his last year of training, their first daughter, Madison, was born.

Dr. Srinivasan has authored multiple journal articles and book chapters. He has presented his research at the national American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), American Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) meetings.

A native Texan, Dr. Green grew up in El Paso but went to New York City for his orthopedic and hand surgery training.

Following a brief period as a surgeon and house officer in Zambia, (featured in a March 2012 New York Times article) Dr. Desai came to the United States to pursue further surgical training. Despite significant challenges he was able to obtain a residency in General Surgery before being selected into the highly competitive integrated Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery program at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School. Along with his wife and two children, Dr. Desai eventually moved to the grand state of Texas and the Hand Center of San Antonio, where he completed fellowship training in Hand & Micro vascular Surgery. Among the 85 fellows that received their hand surgery training in the Hand Center of San Antonio, Dr. Desai is one of the very few who were invited to join the practice as a partner.
Arthroscopy
He has served as a national instructor for the AANA wrist, elbow, and shoulder arthroscopy courses in Chicago. He also serves as a local, regional and national instructor for anatomy courses pertaining to arthroscopy and upper extremity fracture treatment.
Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Person moved his family to study plastic and reconstructive surgery under Dr. Luis O. Vasconez at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. There they had their third daughter, Mary-McKinley. After two years of intense specialty training, Dr. Person and his family moved back to San Antonio. It was there he subspecialized in hand and microsurgery at The Hand Center of San Antonio.

As a resident and fellow, Dr. Desai became actively involved in clinical and lab research in the areas of solid organ transplantation, remote ischemic preconditioning, wound healing, etc. that lead to presentations at numerous regional, national and international meetings including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and American Association of Plastic Surgery (AAPS). His research efforts have resulted in the publication of numerous scholarly articles as well as book chapters in peer-reviewed journals and books.

Physical Therapy
Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper limb, which includes the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder girdle. It is a merging of occupational and physical therapy theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure of the upper limb with function and activity. Using specialized skills in assessment, planning and treatment, hand therapists provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb in order to enhance an individual’s ability to execute tasks and to participate fully in life situations. Occupational Therapy
Gerardo Huerta was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1999 with a bachelors of science in Occupational Therapy and a minor in Spanish. He has been an Occupational Therapist for 19 years and a Certified Hand Therapist since 2006. He is very active in the local "hand therapy" community and has served as a guest lecturer for the Occupational Therapy School here at UTHSCA for the past 4 years.
