Saying Payton is a music teacher is an understatement. He is an artist, a gifted artist, with a plethora of skills and decades of experience and wisdom playing and producing. He is truly a sage whose skills and patience can develop the musical sensitivity and confidence in all his students.

If you are a novice or just want to hone existing musical skills, don’t overlook this talent in San Antonio. Amazing, I walked into his studio not sure I could––and now I know I can, thanks Payton!

Payton is a great guitar teacher and instructor. He is a talented guitar player with 45 yrs experience and loves to share his knowledge of guitar playing. You will not find a more friendly, patient, and flexible guitar instructor.

Payton Brown of Guitar School of Texas is the real deal. He has over 45 years of playing experience and has been in very talented bands. Payton does more than teach you how to play songs he will also show you why the song works - that is he explains the music theory behind the song and can show many different ways to play it as well as when and how to improvise within the song. I have yet to be able to stump him on anything when asking him if he can explain a song to me. Payton is versatile and could easily be a recording artist in his own right. Some of his own compositions are just amazing. He is truly a vessel for music.

The atmosphere is great. All the family has musical talent and they are very gracious in welcoming people into their home. BTW the coffee isn't only complimentary it's some of the best you'll find in the city.

Payton will not only bring you up to speed with your playing but will also challenge you to go beyond what you never thought you could do. He's not just a great teacher he is a great coach too. He is wonderfully friendly and always has a positive attitude.

My son (12) and I (43) started taking guitar lessons with Payton in June 2011. Our experience to date has been wonderful and we give him our highest recommendation. Payton is a fantastic guitar player and more importantly a skilled, positive, and inspiring instructor and mentor. He understands the age and skill level of his students and tailors his lessons to provide a challenge while maintaining a fun experience and encouraging a love of music. We were complete novices, having never played guitar previously. We are grateful to have Payton as a guitar instructor.
